‘Nobody wants to be Putin’s slave’: on the Ukraine frontline as tensions rise

For Misha Novitskyi, the question of whether Russia will invade Ukraine is not theoretical. The enemy is just 50 metres away behind a concrete slab. From time to time Russian voices float eerily across a wintry no man’s land of ragged trees and scrub.

“When they light their stoves you can see the smoke,” Novitskyi – a senior lieutenant in the Ukrainian army – said, speaking from what is in effect Europe’s eastern front with Russia. He added: “Every day they shoot at us.”

The conflict between Kyiv and pro-Russian separatists has gone on for nearly eight long years. There are first world war echoes. Both sides face off along a fixed 250-mile “border” or line of contact which snakes across Ukraine’s Donbas region.

Also… How a Russian invasion of Ukraine could spill over into Europe

A senior Western intelligence official has warned that if Russia decides to invade Ukraine, a conflict could spill over further into Europe.

Speaking to journalists, including the BBC, the senior intelligence official, who asked not to be named, said: “Let’s not be blind. If Russia initiates a scenario of any kind it will also initiate action against Nato members”.

“To think war could be contained to one nation would be foolish,” they added.

Those concerns have been echoed by Britain’s most senior military officer.

‘Hey Google, Sing Me Some Vaccination Propaganda’

Android users around the world report that asking “Hey Google, sing me a song” has their phones playing a Soviet-style propaganda vaccine song.

Afghanistan opium trade booms since Taliban takeover

The cultivation of opium poppy as a medicinal plant has a long tradition in Afghanistan.

The milky sap extracted from the seed pods is dried to produce raw opium, an effective remedy for severe pain. Today, opium is used primarily as an intoxicant and as a raw material for the production of stronger drugs like heroin.

In the last harvest season, which ended in July, an estimated 6,800 tons of opium were produced in Afghanistan. This was an 8% increase over 2020, according to a recent report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

According to the report, Afghanistan accounts for 85% of global opium production, and Afghan opiates supply 80% of users worldwide.

Germoccan! German police foil Islamist terror plot in Hamburg with arrest of known-wolf German-Moroccan

German police revealed on Friday that they prevented a planned Islamist attack in the northern city of Hamburg over the summer.

Andy Grote, top security official for the city, which like the cities of Berlin and Bremen is a state in its own right, said that the plot had been “very, very serious.”

On August 26, police arrested a 20-year-old German-Moroccan man after he tried to buy a firearm and hand grenade on the dark web — unwittingly from an undercover investigator.

WaPo warns: Come and see the systemic racism of electric vehicles

Alternate headline: Will the Washington Post put the Babylon Bee out of business? We have barely moved off square one in the progressive push to eliminate internal-combustion engines (ICEs), and we’re already hearing about the upcoming systemic racism in their proposed replacement. Here’s the headline, which is almost a satire in itself of the old joke about media reporting on the end of the world…

COVID-19 infections are on the rise and omicron could supercharge daily case counts, federal modelling says

New modelling released today by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) suggests the number of COVID-19 cases could increase sharply in the coming weeks as the country grapples with another wave of delta infections and the highly transmissible omicron variant.

While there is a lot of uncertainty about how many cases might be reported, an increase from the current level of over 3,300 cases a day is likely, PHAC said, because Canada is experiencing a “gradual but steady increase” in infections.

The national “rT” — the metric that tracks the average number of people one infected person subsequently will infect — is now over one. That means the pandemic is again in growth mode.

Boinking For Xi! State media outlet says Communist party members must have three children

An editorial in a Chinese state-run news website has suggested Communist party members are obliged to have three children for the good of the country, as Beijing seeks to address plummeting birthrates.

The editorial, which was first published last month, went viral this week and drew sharp reaction from Chinese internet users, with millions of shares, views and comments. As the wave of reaction grew, the original article disappeared from the website.

The piece, published by a state media outlet called China Reports Network, said every member of the ruling party – of which there are about 95 million – “should shoulder the responsibility and obligation of the country’s population growth and act on the three-child policy”.

Prosecutors Make First Move to Break Up Antifa Cell as 11 Activists Charged With Violence

For the first time in the U.S., prosecutors are attempting to break up a network of alleged violent antifa cells.

This week, the San Diego County District Attorney’s office charged 11 alleged antifa members with felony conspiracy and felony assault charges, among other crimes, in a riot case where supporters of former President Donald Trump and random bystanders were beaten in Pacific Beach, California in January. Eight suspects were arraigned this week; they have all pleaded not guilty.

BONOKOSKI: Full Olympic boycott would have sent stronger message

Now that the U.S. has shuffled to the left enough for Canada to be a politically-aligned neighbor, it seemed the easy choice to follow President Joe Biden and also “diplomatically” boycott next year’s Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The China class is making sure Justin gives the appearance of defiance. It’s all a lie. It’s business as usual with the Communist Chinese slave state.

Beverly Hills residents arming themselves with guns in wake of violence

“I’ve always been anti-gun,” said Debbie Mizrahie of Beverly Hills. “But I am right now in the process of getting myself shooting lessons because I now understand that there may be a need for me to know how to defend myself and my family. We’re living in fear.”

During Black Lives Matter protests last year, Mizrahie told The Post, her neighbor’s home was firebombed with Molotov cocktails.

“My kids were outside and they saw a huge explosion,” she said. “[The neighbor’s] backyard went up in smoke. Trees burned down … But it’s only gotten worse. Beverly Hills has been targeted.”

Can’t find a PlayStation 5 console? There are supplies in … Gaza

It is surrounded on all sides, regularly bombed, and plagued by shortages of vital medicines. Yet in the lead-up to Christmas, the isolated Gaza Strip has – for once – ample supplies of something the rest of the world craves but can rarely find: a brand new PlayStation 5.

Sony’s flagship video game console is hot property this holiday season, although most people who have asked for one will be sorely disappointed on Christmas morning.

Can’t build a hospital despite millions in foreign aid because it’s diverted to fund terrorists and line the pockets of a corrupt leadership but game consoles? Gaza’s got em!

Lunatic Liberals demand mandatory EV sales quotas

Mandatory EV sales quotas needed by end of next year: Guilbeault

OTTAWA — Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault says he wants a national mandate that would force auto dealers to sell a certain number of electric vehicles to be in place by the end of next year.

Road transportation accounts for one-fifth of Canada’s total greenhouse-gas emissions. As Canada charts a path to net zero by 2050, eliminating carbon dioxide from passenger cars is a big part of the process.

A command economy! I bet that will work out just great said no one ever. The goal comrade is to eliminate privately owned passenger cars period.

Military chaplain retires after report reveals abuse of students at his former school

A high-ranking chaplain is retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces in the wake of a CBC Fifth Estate investigation that revealed decades of abuse at an elite Ontario boarding school where he worked as headmaster before joining the military.

The Department of National Defence (DND) confirms that as of Nov. 24, Lt.-Col. Gordon Mintz is no longer commandant of the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and is leaving the military altogether.

At least two former students at Grenville Christian College who took part in a class action lawsuit alleging abuse at the school were notified of his sudden retirement in a letter earlier this month.
