Never have so many won so many accolades for so few real achievements on the world stage. That about sums up the Olympics 2021 — or, as I call them, the O-limp-ics 2021. Indeed, the time has come to retire the hallowed motto of the Games: “Faster, Higher, Stronger.”
In our modern age, it’s: “Woker, Weaker, Loser.”

One of Nikolai Bukharin’s last known observations about the Bolshevik revolution, before Stalin had him killed, was that it was driven by a hatred of the people it was supposed to serve. The revolution was supposed to create a society in which all people enjoyed the fruits of their collective production. By the end of the 1920s, Stalin’s revolution from above promised to unleash mass murder, genocide, and famine.
It is a well-known feature of history that revolutions not only eat themselves, but they unleash terror on the people. There is always a point where the aspirations that fueled the revolution slam into the reality of the human condition. Since abandoning the revolutionary vision means abandoning the revolution, the revolutionaries turn on the human condition, first on each other, then on the people.
Ariel Bradley wasn’t even the only Islamic jihadi from Chattanooga, Tennessee. On July 17, 2015, a fellow resident of the Chattanooga suburb of Hixson, Mohammad Abdulazeez, murdered four Marines at a Navy base in Chattanooga. Six years later, Ariel Bradley is dead, and Aminah is being brought back to a United States that is even more riven now by the divisions and confusions that drove her mother’s life so wildly off course than it was when her mother made her fateful choices.

An executive order to mandate electric-vehicle sales presents economic and environmental problems.
On August 5, President Biden issued an executive order setting a goal that, by 2030, half of new vehicles sold in the United States must be electric—including fuel-cell electric, plug-in hybrids, and full-battery electric. Today, only about 3 percent of new vehicles sold are electric. According to Biden, the measure will “improve our economy and public health, boost energy security, secure consumer savings, advance environmental justice, and address the climate crisis.” In fact, it is likely to do the opposite of all those things.
We are constantly told that we need to “trust the experts” when it comes to Covid-19. But what happens when those health experts turn out to be partisan politicians or political donors?
Negotiators at the Vienna-based talks on re-establishing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) have reportedly drafted an agreement and returned to their respective capitals, apparently in the hopes of securing an endorsement for the revived “nuclear deal” with Iran, which by the way Iran never signed. While some differences still remain, the P5+1 nations (the US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) were trying to restore the JCPOA deal before the new Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi took office last week.
