Majority of Canadians think COVID-19 U.S. border restrictions should lift this year: Nanos

OTTAWA — A majority of Canadians are in favour of lifting all pandemic-prompted travel restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border this year, according to a new survey from Nanos Research.

As conversations continue about when the federal government will lift certain border measures like mandatory testing, quarantines, and limits on who can cross into Canada for non-essential reasons, new data indicates that most people will be ready for a return to pre-pandemic rules by the end of 2021.

The Campaign Against ‘Extremism’ Looks Like an Attack on Speech

Some Facebook users have recently received warnings about “extremism” and offers of help for those with acquaintances attracted to “extremist” ideas. It’s part of an international push to discourage and restrict communications considered radical and hateful. While often couched in concern about the potential for violence, this effort looks increasingly like a scheme to narrow the boundaries of acceptable discussion and muzzle speech that makes the powers-that-be uncomfortable.

The House Select Committee to Criminalize and Obstruct

The House of Representatives just voted to create a select committee to investigate the unrest on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021. And — surprise, surprise — Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger crossed over to vote with the Democrats in support of their select committee. Cheney found herself appointed to the select committee by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She says she is “honored to serve.” Cheney’s Republican primary opponent(s) must be overjoyed.

Pelosi advanced the creation of the select committee when an earlier effort at a so-called joint “independent” commission failed after Senate Republicans blocked the initiative.

Biden Is Unfit to Be President — And the Media Is Unfit to Cover Him

His slip-ups and their cover-ups are total embarrassments.

Joe Biden is not mentally or physically fit to be president of the United States. This has been obvious to anyone with eyes or ears for the entirety of his presidency. Acknowledging this simple fact should not be a partisan issue. Regardless of policy disputes, Republicans and Democrats alike should want the leader of the free world to exhibit strength, power, and reassurance on both the national and the world stage. But Biden is merely a figurehead. He is a facsimile of a leader in an office that normally demands sharpness, stamina, and clear-headedness.

All Lives Matter When It Comes to Murder

In the wake of the killings of George Floyd; Daunte Wright; and Andrew Brown, Jr., which have received huge national attention in the media, it’s time to establish the truth in our thinking about race and crime. How common are killings of blacks by police officers, most of them white, or, for that matter, by whites in general? And how common are killings of white police officers, and other whites, by blacks? And why is it that only the killings of blacks seem to receive extensive media attention?

Young people don’t want a Great Reset

Returning to pre-pandemic normality won’t fix structural disadvantages

Young people have suffered immensely during the pandemic. A 70% spike in demand for mental health services, a rise in financial insecurity and accounting for over 80% of the jobs lost in the past year have all contributed to feelings of isolation, alienation and despair. Now, as double vaccinated adults book their summer holidays, the young must again wait.

LA mom recalls her shock after person with a ‘beard and penis’ got into women-only hot tub with her six-year-old daughter at Wi Spa

When Anita took her six-year-old daughter to a Los Angeles Korean spa last year, she went with an open mind and a desire to experience a different culture.

But she never expected to encounter a person with a beard and an exposed penis in the women-only hot tub.

She was so shocked to see what appeared to be a naked man confidently joining the women’s space, which included several small children, that she reported the incident to police, feeling her young daughter had been a victim of indecent exposure.

New national chief calls for reparations for Indigenous people

The newly-elected leader of the largest advocacy organization for First Nations in Canada has thrown her support behind the idea of reparations for Indigenous people.

Speaking at a virtual press conference one day after being elected national chief of the Assembly of First Nations, RoseAnne Archibald said settler colonialism has had dire effects on Indigenous people in Canada — effects that continue to this day and demand redress.

“Reparations are an essential part of the journey on reconciliation,” Archibald said. “Our communities have had longstanding negative impacts as a result of colonization.”

They get 24 Billion a year as it is. Fuck that shit.

Diane Francis: Trudeau’s inability to stand against China is a stain on Canada

Last year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government sent millions of dollars to the People’s Republic of China — in the form of contracts and foreign aid — despite the fact that Beijing has been holding two Canadians hostage for more than two years and has threatened Canadians living in Canada for opposing the regime’s mistreatment of the Uighur people and its takeover of Hong Kong.

Justin is a puppet merely doing the bidding of Canada’s China class.

Why I’m not proud to be a Canadian

This country is run by cowards and imbeciles

It came as no surprise to me to see activists ‘celebrating’ Canada Day by setting fire to churches and toppling statues of Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, while chanting, ‘No pride in genocide.’

Canada has managed to cultivate a culture that is simultaneously self-hating and self-righteous. We have no pride in being Canadian. Yet we are confident we are better than everyone else.

Pop Culture Isn’t Popular Anymore

What’s causing the current retromania?

Humanity, despite the prophecies of Edward Bellamy and H. G. Wells, never mastered the technology of time travel. The art of it seems another matter. Our DeLoreans drive in one direction: reverse.

The ensuing Butterfly Effect alters the future rather than the past. We leave little in the way of cultural legacy as we continually mine our inheritance.

Fyre Festival ticket-holders proposed payout slashed

Ticket-holders to the 2017 Fyre Festival fiasco have seen their proposed payout slashed.

They are set to receive just $281 (£204) each, according to court papers filed in New York last week.

That amount falls short of the April settlement reached in a US federal court, which concluded they could have had up to $7,220 returned each.

Lawyers have struggled to recoup money from acts and models who promoted the festival that fell apart.
