Fauci denies scientists ‘deliberately suppressed’ Wuhan lab leak theory

Dr. Anthony Fauci denied that health officials “deliberately suppressed” theories that COVID-19 came from a laboratory — insisting he always encouraged scientists to have an “open mind” while investigating its origins.

“If you go back then, even though you lean towards feeling this is more likely a natural occurrence, we always felt that you gotta keep an open mind—all of us,” Fauci said Wednesday on “CBS This Morning.”

South Carolina court halts executions until firing squad is available

A high court in the US state of South Carolina has blocked two executions until the inmates are given the choice of death by electrocution or firing squad.

A new law requires inmates on death row to decide between the two methods if lethal drugs are not available.

But as prison authorities have not yet formed a firing squad, the executions have been halted by the supreme court.

Gun rights and medical marijuana activists join forces in Minnesota

Gun rights and medical marijuana legal reform advocates are seeking to join forces in Minnesota, where they hope to petition the federal government to drop its severe classification of marijuana.

The coalition of strange political bedfellows has emerged because medical marijuana users are barred from holding firearms permits, as the federal government designates marijuana a schedule I illegal drug – on a par with heroin, LSD and ecstasy – unsafe and without medicinal benefit.

Government defying order to produce documents on fired scientists from high security lab: Speaker

Government defying order to produce documents on fired scientists from high security lab: Speaker

OTTAWA — Conservatives want to invoke a rarely used procedure to publicly rebuke the head of the Public Health Agency of Canada over his refusal to produce unredacted documents related to the firing of two scientists from Canada’s highest security laboratory.

Conservative House leader Gerard Deltell moved a motion Wednesday calling for PHAC to be found in contempt of Parliament and its president, Iain Stewart, to be summoned before the bar of the House to be admonished by the Speaker.

The CBC headline on the same matter is designed to obfuscate on behalf of the LPCConservatives look to use rarely-invoked tactic to rebuke head of Canada’s public health agency.

China’s Plan to Dominate ‘Near-Earth’ Space

Communist China’s space program is demonstrating that it is on a trajectory possibly to surpass the US in the military and scientific exploration in our solar system. China is planning a space spectacular to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party on July 23, 1921. Today, June 17, China launched a three-astronaut crew who will inhabit the command module of its soon-to-be-completed Tianhe Chinese Space Station. This planned human launch follows the June 10 multiple satellite deployment from Northern China’s Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. One of these satellites is designed to track near-earth asteroids.

National security threat or nothingburger? Lawmakers send mixed signals after being briefed on UFOs

Lawmakers have dropped hints about the conclusions of a Pentagon probe into ‘unidentified aerial phenomena’ after receiving a classified briefing about the investigation.

The Navy and FBI informed members of the House Intelligence Committee about the government’s findings on Wednesday, ahead of a much-anticipated UFO report that is expected to be presented to Congress in the coming weeks.

Although remaining tight-lipped on what had been revealed, several lawmakers provided the media with vague but intriguing soundbites.

More than 200 rabbis SLAM Nancy Pelosi for failing to reprimand Ilhan Omar or remove her from Foreign Affairs Committee over anti-Israel comments

More than 200 American rabbis sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday, condemning her for her failure to reprimand Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and calling on her to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

‘We reiterate that the mob attacks on American Jews today are directly attributable to the rhetoric of Rep. Omar and those who stand with her within and beyond Congress,’ the letter, obtained by Fox News, read.

‘To protect Jewish Americans and, moreover, safeguard the integrity of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, we thus insist upon the removal of Rep. Omar from her appointment,’ the rabbis, members of the Coalition of Jewish Values, wrote.

Scientist Backing Probe Into Wuhan Lab: We Waited Because We Didn’t Want ‘To Be Associated With Trump’

A scientist that signed onto a letter recently backing a probe in the possibility that the coronavirus pandemic originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology admitted in an interview this week that she and other scientists did not come forward sooner to back the possibility that the pandemic originated in a lab because they did not want “to be associated with Trump.”

FATAH: There is no Islamophobia in Canada

Where else in the world would a Catholic prime minister, the leader of its right-wing Christian Conservative opposition, the left-wing party headed by a turbaned Sikh and the head of a separatist party join the city’s mayor, the province’s premier and tens of thousands of ordinary citizens to condemn the horrific mass murder of a Muslim family, allegedly at the hands of home-schooled Christian man?

The answer of course is Canada.

Heather Mallick all for CBC closing FB comments

CBC closing vile Facebook commentary a late but welcome move

The CBC’s decision to close comments for a month on news stories posted on its Facebook page is very much locking a stable door several years after the horses have left the vicinity, but still welcome.

Brodie Fenlon, CBC News editor-in-chief and executive director for daily news, has had the top job for just over a year. He’s proof that new editors bring new energy and can make tough decisions that reflect the world as it is, not as we wish it to be.

As it is, many of the public comments on CBC reporting have been fact-free, paranoid, obsessive and vicious. It is expensive to moderate these feeds, exhausting and upsetting for reporters to endure them year over year.

God forbid “journalists” should have to deal with the great unwashed!

The Delta variant or B.1.617.2 sub-lineage, which was first discovered in India late last year, was recently classified as a variant of concern in Canada. The first cases were detected in the country back in April and have since been rising.
