Sources: Many top NBA players hesitant to promote coronavirus vaccines

Many of the NBA’s top players are expressing apprehension about accepting invitations to participate in league-sponsored public service announcements to bolster broader acceptance of the coronavirus vaccine, sources told ESPN.

The NBA’s outreach to the agents of many of the league’s elite players — with hopes of getting stars to participate in PSAs to promote the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine — has been met with a tepid response, sources said. Player apprehensions about receiving the vaccine are consistent with those that also exist in Black communities throughout the country, agents and players told ESPN.

They probably don’t want to offend China.

Tory raises taxes while citizens & businesses are locked down and going broke

City council has approved the lowest property tax increase of Mayor John Tory’s tenure, despite hundreds of millions of dollars of ongoing financial pressures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Council voted 20-3 in favour of an inflation-based, 0.7 per cent residential tax hike during a special meeting on Thursday.

That Tory, he’s got the city runnin like a top!

GOLDSTEIN: Toronto’s tree department should be chopped down

In the carefully-controlled language of Toronto Auditor General Beverly Romeo-Beehler, city property taxpayers are “still not receiving value for money for tree maintenance services” and “a culture shift is needed” in the department.

Another way to put it would be that the goldbrickers in this department, including workers and the managers who are supposed to be supervising them, are ripping us off for millions of dollars every year by “actually working on trees” an average of 3.5 hours out of their eight-hour day.

Many lined up at the ‘Bank of Barry’ Sherman: Inside the $10 billion succession battle

Jonathon Sherman, wearing a boxy black suit and narrow tie, separated from his three sisters and crossed the floor of the convention centre-turned funeral home, walking stone-faced toward a row of dignitaries. He shook hands and embraced Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario’s then premier Kathleen Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory. In his eulogy, Jonathon had celebrated the lives of his parents, describing them as “exceptional people” and the “glue that kept us all together.” Returning to his shattered family, he clasped his husband’s hand, and, with his sisters, fell into step as the coffins carrying Barry and Honey Sherman were wheeled side by side towards two hearses.

UN Goes Full Sauron Of The Reset

UN: Huge changes in society needed to keep nature, Earth OK

Humans are making Earth a broken and increasingly unlivable planet through climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. So the world must make dramatic changes to society, economics and daily life, a new United Nations report says.

Unlike past U.N. reports that focused on one issue and avoided telling leaders actions to take, Thursday’s report combines three intertwined environment crises and tells the world what’s got to change. It calls for changing what governments tax, how nations value economic output, how power is generated, the way people get around, fish and farm, as well as what they eat.

France: “It was Allah who gave me this car. Come on, give me the keys ”

Note Google Translate: A man arrived back at a car park located at avenue Raymond Dugrand towards Port-Marianne, in Montpellier (Hérault). He came to pick up his car parked at this location. He owns a recent model: an Audi A5. It was there that the owner of the vehicle discovered a man of African descent. He was sitting in the driver’s seat and reportedly refused to get out of the car. “ I will not go out, it is Allah who gave me this car. Come on, give me the keys, ”the individual repeated several times.

Thankfully this is not yet legal in France!

Federal law on municipal gun bans could take precedence over Alberta bill preventing such gun grabs

New gun control legislation proposed by the federal government would likely take precedence over a private member’s bill that aims to prevent Alberta municipalities from passing municipal gun bans, according to a constitutional law expert.

The federal government introduced Bill C-21 on Tuesday. The proposed legislation would give municipalities the power to ban handguns by passing bylaws on their storage and transportation.

Michaela Glasgo, the UCP MLA for Brooks-Medicine Hat, introduced Bill 211 the Municipal Government (Firearms) Amendment Act on Dec. 8.

Wow! Way to go Alberta! I bet Doug Ford will enact similar legislation! Who am I kidding.

GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau said he admired China’s dictatorship — believe him!

There should be no surprise Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he needs more evidence before concluding China’s horrific treatment of its minority Uyghur Muslim population is a genocide, despite having agreed two years ago that Canada’s treatment of its Indigenous population was a genocide.

As Maya Angelou famously put it: “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.”

It runs much deeper than the idiot within the Liberal Party.

“Mysterious” metal monolith destroyed by Congo mob

A metal structure that mysteriously appeared on a roundabout in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been destroyed over fears about its origins.

People in the capital, Kinshasa, stoned and torched the 12ft (3.7m) triangular prism that looked like other metal monoliths that have cropped up around the world over the last few months.

It had begun to draw selfie-takers, which fuelled rumours on social media.

Some feared it was satanic or put there by aliens or by a secret cabal.

Facebook Has ‘Unfriended Australia’: Prime Minister Scott Morrison

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has labelled Facebook’s decision to ban Australian users from viewing news content as “arrogant” and warned that he is in regular contact with world leaders, who are all contending with how to better regulate Big Tech.

“Facebook’s actions to unfriend Australia today, cutting off essential information services on health and emergency services, were as arrogant as they were disappointing,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Google has been cutting deals with publishers such as News Corp, and now also is in talks with Canadian publishers but I suspect Facebook isn’t acting independently of their brethren in the Oligopoly.

This seems a suicidal position for FB to take. Or is it?

Ontario Reports 1038 New China Flu Cases… and about that AstraZeneca vaccine Justin promises

Good news from Justin? Serum Institute of India says will ship AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to Canada in ‘less than a month’

Or is it? AstraZeneca’s vaccines go unused in EU as mutants spread

Just weeks ago, the European Union was clamouring for AstraZeneca Plc’s COVID-19 vaccine. Now, fewer than one-tenth of the doses delivered to Germany have been administered in the initial days of the rollout, and some health-care workers say they’re concerned about side effects.

… In an ambulance corps in Dortmund, one-quarter of the 300 people vaccinated late last week with the AstraZeneca shot called in sick afterward, a local newspaper reported, citing internal fire-department documents. Health officials in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where Dortmund is located, recommended vaccinating smaller groups of health-care workers at a time to avoid staffing shortages, DPA reported.

Liberal MP asks Speaker to strike Ramesh Sangha’s comments about Sikh support of Khalistani extremists from official record

Liberal MP asks Speaker to strike Ramesh Sangha’s comments about Sikh support of Khalistani extremists from official record

A Liberal MP has asked the Speaker of the House of Commons to strike a former Liberal caucus member’s comments from the official record after he made a statement he said “impinged on the reputation” of Sikh MPs.

Ramesh Sangha, who was removed from his party’s caucus last month, read a statement before question period today accusing Sikh MPs of pressuring the government in 2018 to have the word “Sikh” removed from the 2018 Public Report on the Terrorist Threat in Canada.

Sangha said the Sikh MPs — he did not name them — had a “hidden agenda” to “camouflage” the names of Sikhs linked to the Khalistani extremist movement.

Only one of the 20 handguns seized by Toronto police so far in 2021 are legal for Canadians to own

Despite pushes by federal and municipal leaders to end legal handgun ownership, Toronto’s criminals prefer to pack illegal iron.
