Big Tech’s Influence in Biden Ticket, 2020 Election Raises Concerns

Big Tech companies have been accused of meddling in the 2020 election, and their employees have obtained influential roles within the Biden-Harris organization, which critics say could signal a return to the friendly stance held by the Obama administration toward Silicon Valley.

At issue is how these companies used their funding or engaged in censorship ahead of the election. A report from The Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society alleges that $500 million from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was given to election officials and used to violate election laws. The money was allegedly used to improperly influence the election in favor of Biden, with the bulk of the funds going to a progressive nonprofit.

Nets Give Cold Shoulder to Eco-Terrorist Attack on Aspen Gas Lines

Bias by omission was the theme Tuesday for ABC, CBS, and NBC. While they ignored a dubious Democratic campaign event in Georgia and liberal California releasing sex offenders, they also turned a blind eye to an attack in Aspen, Colorado by eco-terrorists who targeted natural gas lines in the area, and killed the heat to around 3,500 customers as temperatures dropped to near ZERO with a snowstorm rolling in.

Air travellers entering Canada must have a negative COVID-19 test before arrival, Ottawa says

Air passengers entering Canada will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before arriving in the country, the federal government announced today.

Travellers must receive a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test within a 72-hour period prior to boarding a plane — a requirement Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc said will be in place “quickly,” though he did not provide an exact date.

The measure does not replace the federal government’s mandatory 14-day quarantine period, Public Safety Minister Bill Blair warned.

“This is not an alternative to quarantine. It’s an additional layer,” Blair said during a public health briefing.

‘STAND BY MY FRIENDS’: Toronto’s mayor dismisses Rod Phillips’ Caribbean vacation as ‘mistake’

After months of scolding Torontonians for not following COVID-19 public health measures, Toronto’s mayor says he stands by his friends.

One day after Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips admitted to shirking his government’s COVID-19 advice by jetting off to the Caribbean island of St. Barts, John Tory described the Ajax MPP’s decision to take a Christmas vacation in paradise as a ‘mistake’ — doing so no less than 12 times while responding to a reporter’s question during a press conference Wednesday.

Canada is turning asylum seekers away at the border, then changing its mind

Like thousands of others who have sought asylum in Canada in recent years, Apollinaire Nduwimana entered the country at Roxham Road, an unofficial border crossing between New York and Quebec.

But in this year of the coronavirus, the Burundian man was barred from making a claim. Instead, Canadian border guards turned him back to the United States, where he was arrested and detained with a final order of removal.

China clamps down in hidden hunt for coronavirus origins

China clamps down in hidden hunt for coronavirus origins

… More than a year since the first known person was infected with the coronavirus, an AP investigation shows the Chinese government is strictly controlling all research into its origins, clamping down on some while actively promoting fringe theories that it could have come from outside China.

The government is handing out hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to scientists researching the virus’ origins in southern China and affiliated with the military, the AP has found. But it is monitoring their findings and mandating that the publication of any data or research must be approved by a new task force managed by China’s cabinet, under direct orders from President Xi Jinping, according to internal documents obtained by The AP. A rare leak from within the government, the dozens of pages of unpublished documents confirm what many have long suspected: The clampdown comes from the top.

Hilaria Baldwin blames Spanish heritage scandal on everyone but herself

Hillary “Hilaria” Baldwin has opened up about being accused of faking her background — insisting it was everyone else’s fault for assuming she was Spanish.

Alec Baldwin’s wife told The New York Times in an interview posted early Wednesday that she had always hidden her parents’ true background as bourgeois Bostonians purely in an innocent attempt to protect their privacy.

And she claimed she was raised by a father with such “deep, deep, deep bonds” with the European nation that, “When we weren’t in Spain, we called it ‘we brought Spain into our home.’”

China Using Covid to Overtake America’s Economy

China Using Covid to Overtake America’s Economy

The U.K.-based Centre for Economics and Business Research believes that, due to China’s superior response to COVID-19, the Chinese economy will become the world’s largest by 2028, five years earlier than previously forecast.

“For some time, an overarching theme of global economics has been the economic and soft power struggle between the United States and China,” the Centre wrote in a December 26 report. “The COVID-19 pandemic and corresponding economic fallout have certainly tipped this rivalry in China’s favor.”

Archewell Audio podcast review — ‘Like Goop but without the fun’

Archewell Audio podcast review — ‘Like Goop but without the fun’

The first episode of Harry and Meghan’s podcast Archewell Audio introduces a world where chefs don’t cook, they “empower communities through food”; where people don’t do things, they “manifest” them; where people don’t “say”, they “share” and so on. It’s all blandly Californian. Like Goop but without the fun.

This opener explores the importance of “the power of connection” in the past year. Harry and Meghan introduce audio clips of various celebrities, including James Corden, Elton John, George the Poet, Stacey Abrams, Matt Haig, Naomi Osaka and Deepak Chopra, talking about what they’ve learnt in 2020.
