The federal government is investing $64 million in COVID-19 vaccine education campaigns to help combat vaccine hesitancy and misinformation in Canada, while also encouraging Canadians to get the shot.

“We urge Canadian media to uphold the correct position on issues concerning China’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and other major core interests, abide by the one-China principle, and not to provide a platform for the activities of ‘Taiwan independence’ forces so as not to send wrong signal,” claimed the Embassy.

The Atlantic province of about 520,000 people is on the brink of insolvency, with a net debt of $16.4 billion. The province spends more on debt servicing than on any government service other than health care.

It’s quite the juxtaposition: Much of Canada remains under some fairly strict public health measures due to COVID-19. Masking, business closures, a curfew in Quebec and a stay-at-home order in Ontario.
In the United States, the opposite is happening.

At what point will Canadians stand up and say “enough is enough” with hypocritical politicians endlessly expanding their power as a substitute for their errors?

As expected, the government will claim they are ‘protecting Canadians,’ while actually seeking to protect government from the criticism that is necessary in a free society.

The politicians and political staffers who came up with the idea to stick air travelers in quarantine hotels for COVID-19 testing and “isolation sites” for positive cases, seemed at first to be just extremely bureaucratic with their unreasonable measures, but through the implementation of the isolation policies, they have become downright authoritarian.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared in a panel conversation with Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean and hockey legend Willie O’Ree to speak about social justice and racism on Monday afternoon.
During the event, Trudeau gave an opening statement and condemned the issue of discrimination within the sport.
“Hockey brings Canadians together and there’s no place for racism or discrimination of any kind in Canada’s game,” said Trudeau during his opening statement.

In my view, the French and bilingual lyrics of O Canada now need revision. The bilingual version uses two lines from the French version. First, “ton histoire est une épopée des plus brillants exploits,” officially translated as “your history is an epic of brilliant deeds.” I embrace this line as an eloquent evocation of the best moments of our history and an aspirational goal for the future.
The second line, however, gives me pause: “car ton bras sait porter l’épée, il sait porter la croix,” translated as “for your [Canada’s] arm knows how to wield the sword, your arm knows how to carry the cross.” These words, of course, reflect the importance of the Catholic church in 19th century Quebec, the context in which O Canada was written. But to me, as a Jew, they now sound non-inclusive and obsolete.

When all the Kings horses and all the Kings men had vacationed all over (and some got caught) it’s now time for those of us who had ever dreamed of sunshine and warmth to shut up and stay at home. So, you can’t go to the Caribbean or Mexico (or you may through the USA as many are doing) where the variant is very low, but you can actually go to India, the USA, South Africa, the UK, and Europe where the cases of COVID are very high.

A consortium of some of Canada’s largest companies, representing 350,000 employees nationwide, has launched a rapid testing program aimed at reopening the country’s economy.

“So you’re adding a new layer of a mandatory test for everyone landing. So that’s a new burden, a new invasion, and a new cost. But there’s no upside for passing that test. Why would you do that if there’s no upside for finding out that someone’s not sick? Why are you insisting that people still quarantine if they are healthy, and you know they’re healthy?

“The Black Unity Collection pays homage to the rich tradition and craft of quilting in the Black community and celebrates the colours of the Pan-African flag: red for the blood that unites people of the African Diaspora and was shed for their liberation, black for the people whose existence is affirmed by the flag, and green for the vibrant natural wealth of Africa, the Motherland,” explains Apple.
