Can Canada become a global power?

Under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada is one of the only countries in the world, in the history of the world, to routinely sacrifices its own national interest to virtue signal. Instead of focusing on a vision for Canada in the future, the Trudeau government is focused on social justice, climate change, mass redistribution of wealth and equity.

Trudeau Trying to Shut Down Independent Journalism in Canada, Says Rebel News Founder

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is trying to silence journalists who challenge his policies while giving special privileges to those who toe the line, an independent Canadian journalist told Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tuesday.

Ezra Levant, founder and CEO of Rebel News, said the Trudeau government has instituted a “Qualified Canadian Journalism Organization license” that gives licensed journalists tax subsidies and other favorable treatment.

“It’s not yet illegal to do journalism without the license,” Levant said, but he fears that “the worst is yet to come.”

Rex Murphy: Flashbacks of the truckers’ protest are ‘haunting us still’

I know that with such fast-flowing events as the Conservative leadership race, the Liberal budget, and of course Joe Biden’s matchless press conferences — there will someday be a book called Profiles in Incoherence — that the dark hours of the truckers protest are receding from memory. The Emergencies Act has — I think — been lifted, and people are slowly repairing their spirits from that trying episode. Still, we are not completely out from under its shadow. To borrow a phrase, famous from another context, “it haunts us still.”

Can Canada really ban gas cars by 2030?

Canada’s federal government has announced it will ban the sale of Internal Combustion Engine vehicles beginning in 2030. That’s less than eight years from today. What if they do?

Canadians bought 1.5 million new motor vehicles in 2020. It was a down year during the pandemic. Who’s going to make 1.5 million new Electric Vehicles for sale in Canada in 2030? Who’s going to buy them? Those are market-making questions.

A far more important question is how are they going to power these EVs?

Liberals are infecting our military and police forces with wokeism. We will all pay the price

Years ago, American political philosopher Harvey Mansfield made a troubling observation that I cited in these pages five years ago. In case you’ve forgotten, events conspire to remind you that, and I quote a paraphrase not the original, “it may be possible to impose perfect justice, but … people may not be in a mood to live together when you are finished.” For instance, in the Canadian military.

If you were a young straight male would you bank on a future in the armed forces? I don’t believe going woke is going to fix their recruitment shortfall. Why would anyone sign on to an organization opposed to their personal values and that holds their very existence in contempt as the root cause of whatever mental illness its woke members care to declare.

Matthew Lau: Circling the toilet bowl of socialism

Had I been in charge of titling last week’s federal budget, it would have been called something like “Circling the toilet bowl of socialism.” We’re not quite in the bowl yet, but with this budget, we’re circling it. The Liberals instead called their budget “A Plan to Grow Our Economy and Make Life More Affordable,” a far less accurate description, for their policies are exactly the opposite of what they should be if they really want to grow the economy. As a matter of basic economics, to encourage economic growth, taxes must be low, simple, predictable, and broadly applied, in order to minimize distortions and provide certainty. The Liberals have broken all the rules of sensible taxation by making taxes higher, more distortionary, more arbitrary, and less certain.

Trudeau says his immigration policies have inflamed housing crisis woes

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took questions at a press conference on Monday he said that his government’s immigration policies have been a key contributor to Canada’s housing crisis.

“Population growth in this country hasn’t been matched by an equivalent growth in housing supply,” said Trudeau, in British Columbia.

Trudeau says “protests should always be legal” at stop in Victoria

At a press conference in Victoria, British Columbia on Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praised the right of Canadians to protest, saying he encourages people to express their disagreements with the government.

Trudeau made the comment in response to a question from reporters following an announcement highlighting the Liberal government’s 2022 budget spending on electric vehicles and infrastructure.

The Biggest Scandal in Canadian History

The radical left in Canada is being exposed, and the mainstream media is ignoring it.

When the Freedom Convoy protesters were in Ottawa, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the cabinet and the mainstream media told Canadians that the protesters were funded by Russians, dark money, Donald Trump supporters and foreigners. Canadians were told protesters committed violence, rapes, threats of rape, attempted arson and other crimes. The Freedom Convoy was marked as a national security threat and accused of terrorism and insurrection.

All of this has been proved false. All of the supposed evidence to support the invocation of the Emergencies Act and give Trudeau extraordinary wartime powers was a lie.

SIMS: The carbon tax is a no rebate rip-off

There’s a moment in the TV show Community where the character Jeff Winger is exasperated with his study group’s attempt to interfere in their friend’s life.

Predictably, the interference doesn’t work and Jeff explode: “I hate to say ‘I told you so,’ so, I will SHOUT IT THROUGH CUPPED HANDS!”

Taxpayers are shouting through cupped hands: CARBON TAXES COST MORE THAN THE REBATES WE GET BACK!

Canadians Didn’t Elect Trudeau To Work For The World Economic Forum

Lack of comprehension of a fundamental in Canadian governance has for decades eluded our citizenship. In terms of what political science refers to as “Classical Liberalism,” our country simply does not meet the standard.

Year after year, decade after decade, democratic governance in Canada has been under a process of erosion. The signs are obvious and apparent. Yet, because honest media reporting declines within the process, general society has difficulty recognising the transformation.

Liberal tax on banks really a tax on Canadians’ retirement

Do you know what a tax on banks and insurance companies is?

First, it’s not primarily a tax on rich investors, many of them foreign. So if you’re hoping the increased taxes on financial institutions, announced by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland in Thursday’s budget will be primarily a way to squeeze fat cats for their “fair share” of government revenue, you’d be wrong.
