John Ivison: Now is CRTC’s chance to tell CBC to get out of the advertising business

The broadcast regulator styles itself as an administrative tribunal that operates at arm’s length from the federal government. It is a description that embellishes the degree of separation. The distance remains short enough that the prime minister can give the CRTC a slap across the head, if he has a mind (a statement, not a question).

William Watson: CBC searched high and low for Marxist profs to speak ill of the Queen

It must have been an awful dozen days for the woke folk who run the CBC Newsroom. In the first hours, the Queen’s death was very sad so, given most people’s quite human reaction, there was little opportunity for the ideological instruction, especially on matters of race, indigenousness and gender flux, that increasingly dominates what comes out of the corporation. And then, strangely, it turned into a good-news story, as the focus shifted to the Queen’s having hardly ever turned a foot wrong or spoken a hurtful or unwise word during 70 — seventy! — years of what only an ignoramus would deny had been dedicated service.

Are You A Dangerous Right Wing Extremist Who Denies Men Can Have A Baby? You Might Be Conservative Commentator Ben Shapiro Says CBC!

‘It’s a slippery slope’: How young men fall into online radicalization

“It started out pretty benign,” he recalls. “You’re watching something about teen fashion and then the next thing you know, the algorithm would push you to a Ben Shapiro video.”

Though Shapiro describes himself as a conservative political commentator, his views are controversial — and some are outright discriminatory. He’s suggested, for example, that transgender people suffer from a “mental disorder.”

But he has a combined 9.4 million subscribers and followers on YouTube and Twitter, many of whom are young people, like Brown was when he got pushed in Shapiro’s direction.

They do suffer from a mental disorder and the CBC is a dangerous enabler attempting to criminalize dissent. Why are our tax dollars supporting gender extremists on CBC?

CBC Has Nervous Breakdown! Convoy donors gave more than $460K to CPC leadership race — and many were first-time federal donors

Canadians who donated to the Ottawa convoy protest contributed more than $460,000 to Conservative leadership candidates — and many of them were donating to a federal political party for the first time — an analysis by CBC News shows.

A comparison of donations to Conservative leadership contenders up to Aug. 1 with the GiveSendGo crowdfunding campaign for the convoy protest found over 3,100 people who contributed to both campaigns, based on identical combinations of names and postal codes.

The lion’s share of convoy donors’ leadership campaign donations went to Pierre Poilievre’s campaign.

OMG! Convoy supporters donated! And many were 1st time donors! That must be against the law!

Poilievre is gonna be mean to Justin and CBC warns CBC

He made Justin cry.

In Poilievre, Liberals face a leader who gets under his opponents’ skin

A few days before he stepped into a boxing ring with Senator Patrick Brazeau in 2012, Justin Trudeau rose in the House of Commons and asked the Conservative government about its support for young people.

James Moore, the heritage minister at the time, stood to respond.

“My colleague will have to wait for the budget tomorrow but I know that he is very anxious to please Canadians,” Moore teased.

That’s a great kick-off – Hey remember when Justin beat up the drug and booze addicted Indian?

The CBC is about to get WAY worse

The CBC is about to get 30% more woke thanks to new requirements imposed on them by the Canadian Radio‑television and Telecommunications (CRTC). The CBC will now have to dedicate 30% of its English-language programming to woke causes such as promoting “racialized” voices,” “disabled voices” and language minorities. Did anyone on the woke left really feel that the CBC wasn’t serving them enough biased left wing content? Also, doesn’t the CBC already surpass that target? Harrison Faulkner breaks it all down on this week’s episode of Ratio’d.

CBC Host Implies It’s “Unfair” For Police To Inform Public About Gangs Because Of Political Correctness

What should a country prioritize:

Informing Citizens about gang violence, or political correctness?

To all common-sense Canadians, the answer is obvious.

But not for the CBC.

During a recent segment on how men from South Asia dominate the list of gang members that Vancouver authorities warned the public about, a CBC anchor implied that it was “unfair” to release the list because of how it could impact the “perception of young men of colour.”

Quebec’s Conservative party surges in the polls as some of its candidates spread conspiracy theories

“… The surge in popularity for Duhaime’s party comes as conservative libertarians across the country, at both the provincial and federal levels, are feeling emboldened by frustrations at pandemic restrictions.

Recent polling suggests anti-mandate libertarians, at both the federal and provincial levels, are attracting support of Canadians who are distrustful not just of government regulations, but of scientific authorities, mainstream media outlets and democratic institutions in general.

… A recent study, based on polling data, found that 50 per cent of the party’s supporters were either “convinced” or “moderate” adherents of conspiracy theories.

Among Quebec Liberal supporters, 31 per cent were classified as conspiracy theorists and so were 29 per cent of Parti Québécois supporters.

Distrustful of government regulations? That just being prudent. The government is never your friend said a wise lady I know.

Distrustful of Scientific authorities? Would they be the ones who tampered with the Alzheimer studies? Or the ones who with Big Pharma pushed meds for depression when no proof of their efficacy has been established?

Distrustful of Media! Thanks for the laugh CBC.

Distrustful of democratic institutions in general? This from the same CBC that ran with the Russia Collusion hoax for literally years?

Harper passes the Populist-conservative torch to Poilievre and he talks to Jews warns CBC

In practice, populism often seems more bent on finding scapegoats than offering solutions

Stephen Harper has said the Conservative government he led from 2006 to 2015 practiced what he calls “populist conservatism.” A Conservative Party led by Pierre Poilievre — endorsed by Harper this week — will fully embrace that description.

One can only speculate about why the former prime minister decided to take the unusual step of endorsing a candidate in the current leadership race — and why he chose to do so now. Maybe the Poilievre campaign has some reason to believe it needs an extra push to get over the line.

I found the CBC’s photo selection and accompanying caption an odd choice. There must be thousands of pics the CBC has access to but why choose this one? A random pick or a subtle message sent to fellow travelers that Harper and hence Poilievre not only support Israel but Harper has had dealings with the dread AIPAC… the feared “Jewish Lobby.”

How much CBC News does the world need? Is there a case for more?

… Hold on there now. Hold on. A new steaming service for CBC News? Sounds like it.

How much CBC News does the world need? Right now, there’s the main CBC TV network, which carries CBC News programs plus documentaries and current affairs programs. Then there’s CBC News Network (CBCNN), a cable channel delivering news 24/7, plus documentaries and current affairs programs.

The CBC’s Motto: Leave No Batshit Crazy Crank Unplatformed

Activists hold ‘Abolitionist Pride’ march to call for dismantling of police and prisons

About 500 people marched in downtown Toronto before the Pride parade on Sunday to call for the abolition of police and the prison system in Ontario.

The No Pride in Policing Coalition gathered at Nathan Phillips Square at 11 a.m. for an event it called “Abolitionist Pride,” then marched to various sites that the coalition says represent queer and trans oppression.

An online poster for the event said demonstrators were “reclaiming our radical histories and creating liveable futures without police and prisons.”

Justin’s CBC horrified to discover efforts to normalize exposing children to drag queens meets with resistance

Libraries in Canada hit by wave of hate, threats, as right-wing groups protest all-age drag events

Family-friendly drag events across Canada, many hosted by municipal libraries, have been targeted by a deluge of hateful comments and threats during Pride month, prompting multiple police investigations and renewed concerns about the safety of the LGBTQ community.

More than half a dozen libraries and drag performers, from Saint John to Victoria, reported being inundated online and over the phone by homophobic slurs and, in some cases, threats of violence.

Drag Story Hour events are popular at many libraries in the country, and usually feature a performer in drag reading children’s books about inclusion. They are often held in collaboration with local LGBTQ associations and have caused only minor controversy in the past.

Family Friendly? Because exposing children to drag queens is normal for the CBC.

When the national broadcaster is pedophile adjacent it’s time to pull the plug on funding.
