Booster uptake lags initial vaccinations. Experts worry pandemic fatigue at play

Some nations are already looking to a fourth vaccine dose to help contend with a huge Omicron-driven spike in COVID-19 cases, but early signs suggest repeat vaccination may be a hard sell as beleaguered populations enter their third pandemic year.

Uptake of the first round of boosters in recent months – the third shot for most – has lagged initial vaccinations.

Axios, CNN, WaPo: Let’s face it, the CDC has a major credibility crisis

How good of them to notice! Most people discounted CDC and FDA credibility after they admitted to “noble lies” such as that on masking, but recently the CDC have stepped up their game on obvious incompetence and politicization. The impression of desperate flailing had already been made on many Americans prior to this, but now media outlets like Axios have sat up and taken notice…

Coronavirus: ‘Deltacron’ discovery not a mistake, says scientist who claims he found new variant

A Cypriot scientist defended his assertion that a new strain of Covid-19 exists that combines characteristics of the Delta and Omicron variants.

Other scientists have speculated that Leonidos Kostrikis’s findings are a result of laboratory contamination. But he said in an emailed statement on Sunday that the cases he has identified “indicate an evolutionary pressure to an ancestral strain to acquire these mutations and not a result of a single recombination event”.

GOLDSTEIN: Even Trudeau knows targeting unvaccinated un-Canadian

In May 2021, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the definitive statement on why Canada did not have mandatory vaccination laws and why he opposed them.

It’s a position he is now undermining with his indiscriminate political rhetoric linking the unvaccinated to racists and misogynists.

Compulsory COVID vaccine mandates are coming to Europe

At a small coffee shop in central Rome on Monday morning, the door was wide open and the few patrons who chose to drink cappuccino indoors to escape the cold had to show the masked baristas proof of vaccination for the first time.

The new Italian restrictions came into place after the government made vaccination passes – not just a negative COVID-19 test – mandatory to use public transportation and gain access to public spots such as gyms, hotels, restaurants and bars. Last week, the government also required anyone over 50 to become fully vaccinated, making Italy one of only three European Union countries to mandate vaccines for an entire age group.

Omicron continues to drive up COVID-19 hospitalizations across Canada

… Former CEO of the University Health Network and Ontario deputy health minister Dr. Bob Bell says every Western country dealing with COVID’s fast spreading Omicron variant has a stressed hospital system right now.

“There is no convincing case for compulsory COVID-19 vaccinations,” Bernier wrote on Twitter. “Mandatory policies are a blunt tool aimed at covering up government ineptitude.”
