No more Chinese-made masks in Parliament, federal buildings

Speaker of the House of Commons Anthony Rota ruled on Monday that Chinese-made masks will be banned from Parliament by the end of January, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

MPs also voted to ban Chinese-made masks from all federal buildings across Canada. The move comes after MPs realized that their masks were being imported from the communist regime and not coming from local manufacturers.

New York Times Admits America Sacrificed Children’s Well-Being For Sake Of Adults’ Safety In The Name Of COVID-19

On Tuesday morning, The New York Times’ “Morning Newsletter” said that since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Americans have accepted more harm to children in exchange for less harm to adults” in a piece titled, “No Way to Grow Up.” That is, of course, a true statement. Yet that admission left many conservatives frustrated for having warned of the damage that lockdowns were doing to kids for nearly two years, only to be met with ridicule and dismissive attitudes from leftist media and politicians.

New York Covid Testing and Treatment: White People Need Not Apply

Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of a day when people would be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. That day has not yet dawned in New York, at least when it comes to Covid testing and treatment. On December 27, the New York State Department of Health issued a memo to health care providers and facilities on the authorization and “severe shortage” of oral antiviral and monoclonal antibody treatments for Covid, directing that non-white people be given priority for such treatments. Meanwhile, white people are also being passed over for Covid testing in New York City.

The hell of ‘Zero Covid’

China shows just how dangerous public-health fanaticism can become.

Imagine a nation in such a state of distress that its citizens were reduced to bartering for food. A nation where women were so desperate for something to cook and eat that they started swapping sanitary towels for vegetables. A nation where families were so hungry that they would trade their cigarettes for a cabbage. This country actually exists. And it isn’t one of the poor, sometimes famished nations of the global South. It’s China. More accurately, it’s China under the policy of ‘Zero Covid’. If you want to witness the hell of Zero Covid, the dystopian derangement of subordinating every facet of life to the crusade against coronavirus, look no further than the country where this virus first emerged.

Unvaccinated to be banned from booze and marijuana in Quebec – media

If taking away jobs and large gatherings isn’t enough to coerce some people into getting vaccinated against Covid-19, cutting them off from hard liquor and marijuana might do the trick. Canada’s Quebec province may soon find out.

Quebec Prime Minister Francois Legault’s administration is expected to announce a new requirement for proof of vaccination at liquor stores and cannabis outlets later this week, the Journal de Montreal reported on Tuesday. Minor details of the latest mandate, such as whether to require the passport at entrances or cash registers, are still being ironed out, the newspaper said, citing unidentified sources.

New COVID-19 Variant Identified In France With 46 Mutations – 12 People Infected

Information on the new variant is extremely limited, but it is thought to have originated in Cameroon and carry multiple mutations in the spike protein. The area most affected, which is near Marseille, has shown a significant increase in hospitalizations, but it is possible that lower vaccination rates and an older population may be to blame and it remains far too early to draw conclusions on the new variant’s epidemiology.

Toronto planning for ‘worst case scenario’ in which 50 to 60 per cent of staff are absent as zoo and some library branches prepare to close

The City of Toronto is planning for a “worst case scenario” in which 50 to 60 per cent of its frontline staff are sick or isolating as a result of COVID-19 exposures and some non-essential services have to be “adjusted or cancelled,” Mayor John Tory says.

Tory made the comment during a briefing at city hall on Tuesday morning as he discussed the rapid spread of the Omicron variant and the impact that could have on the delivery of services over the coming weeks.

Randall Denley: Ford is inflicting pandemic pain, but offering little gain.

It’s too early to say when Doug Ford’s pandemic performance will reach its low point, but Monday’s new school closure and semi-lockdown is a leading contender. One can argue that the Ontario premier’s latest move is too little, too late or that’s a gross over-reaction. The case for timely and appropriate is a lot tougher to make.

BBC: Omicron stats are huge, but look beyond them

Covid infections have risen to unprecedented levels in recent weeks because of the Omicron variant.

But, as early evidence suggested it would, this variant is causing milder illness, for now at least.

A fall in the proportion of detected cases ending in hospital, shows this. It is now five times lower than it was a year ago.
