Bjorn Lomborg: UN disaster report is a reporting disaster

A new United Nations report reveals the disturbing news that the number of global disasters has quintupled since 1970 and will increase by another 40 per cent in coming decades. It finds that more people are affected by disasters than ever before, which has prompted the UN Deputy Secretary General to warn that humanity is “on a spiral of self-destruction.”

Astonishingly, the UN is misusing data, and its approach has been repeatedly shown to be wrong. Its finding makes for great headlines but just isn’t grounded in evidence.

Moron John Kerry warns a long Ukraine war would threaten climate efforts

John Kerry – Lunatic

The longer the war in Ukraine carries on, the worse the consequences will be for the climate, the US presidential envoy John Kerry has warned.

Many countries are struggling with an energy crisis while also urgently needing to cut greenhouse gas emissions to limit global heating to 1.5C, he said.

“If it’s a long period of time, obviously that makes [staying within 1.5C] very complicated,” Kerry said. “It depends on what happens with the war, where the war goes and how long it lasts. If miraculously we can somehow find a way to resolve some of the fundamental problems in the next six months, then maybe we could just accelerate everything together. I think we can make up some distance [in progress on tackling the climate crisis].”

John Robson: Congrats to the Trudeau Liberals for making their dream of high gas prices come true

The public policy landscape is littered with the wreckage of ideas that didn’t work out the way their architects intended. It might convince lesser mortals than our politicians and their claque that good intentions are not sufficient. But at least they meant well. Which you can’t say about unaffordable gasoline.

Global Warming Was Going to Destroy Skiing, Then the Snow Fell

The weather “hates science”.

Vail, Colorado concluded its skiing season on May 1 a year after the Denver Post warned that “climate change is shrinking the Colorado ski season”.

It’s almost as if some higher power has made a point of mocking doomsday predictions by climate pagans who think the weather can be changed by raising taxes and driving Teslas.

But like a Gore-Tex parka, the climate consensus is impermeable to mere snowfall.

OK, St Greta, you’ve won

I KNOW one person who will be just loving this Cost of Living Crisis, and that person is Greta Thunberg. You remember St Greta, dear reader? Of course you do, how could you forget her? She is the climate change activist that British politicians were falling over themselves to get to back in 2019, when she was 16. She came to Britain to trash our energy policy, and I tell you the MPs just could not get enough of her.

The climate scaremongers: The weather disaster swindle

ARE weather disasters becoming more common? You’d have thought so, because we keep on being told so. A few months ago, the BBC informed us:

‘The number of weather-related disasters to hit the world has increased five-fold over the past 50 years, says the World Meteorological Organization. As global temperatures have risen in recent decades, there has been a significant uptick in the number of disasters related to weather and water extremes.’

Canada’s electricity grid will need substantial changes to help achieve net zero says really stupid report that states wind, solar & unicorns will provide 75% of needs!

… The institute’s report — called The Big Switch, Powering Canada’s Net Zero Future — relies on multiple studies that show demand will be double or triple what it is today by 2050. As much as 75 per cent of that additional power will need to come from wind and solar, if Canada is to meet its climate goals.

These are not serious people. Not once is nuclear mentioned.

GUNTER: Environmental racism is the latest cause for woke warriors

Call it the double whammy of environmentalism. Or maybe climate alarmism on steroids.

Federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault and the Liberal government have decided to get behind a private member’s bill being flogged by former Green Party Leader Elizabeth May that would require the federal government to “assess, prevent and address environmental racism and to advance environmental justice.”

Far-Left Dems Use Ukraine Crisis To Push For Green Energy Despite Glaring Problems

A group of six far-left Senate Democrats introduced a resolution Monday urging the federal government to quickly adopt green energy policies for national security reasons.

The U.S. must transition to green energy “as quickly as possible,” bring an end to alleged price gouging from oil companies and provide assistance to consumers battling high energy prices, according to the Democratic non-binding resolution first reported by The Washington Post.

‘The Supply Chain Does Not Exist’: Green Energy Industry Is In For A Rude Awakening

“One of the problems with this industry as a whole is that, since at its very foundation it is based on government subsidies and government mandates, its market value is never truly known,” Daniel Turner, the executive director of Power the Future, told the DCNF in an interview.

“It’s a big lie when the environmentalists say, ‘it’s cheap’ — we don’t know what it actually costs,” Turner continued. “It may be, I’m not denying it could be, but the fact is we don’t actually know what wind and solar cost.”

‘Just transition’ failures prove the Trudeau Liberals are eco-charlatans

The Trudeau government’s “just transition” for oil and gas sector workers who lose their jobs in the Liberals’ new “green” economy was always just so much horse hockey.

But now we have proof of how much rubbish it is.

Sure, the federal Liberals made it sound as if they understood the pain their eco-fantasies were going to impose on energy-sector workers.

Is wind power really the solution to our green energy needs?

Like many concepts created with good intentions, the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) label is causing as many problems as it solves.

Across the world’s investment desks, fund managers struggle to comprehend International Sustainability Standards, fill in IFSR Climate-related Disclosures, EFRAG Climate Standard reporting, and other stuff that induces narcolepsy. Occasionally, if they are lucky, they even find time to address the impact of inflation and war on the investment portfolios they now can’t run due to the regulatory and reporting burden put upon them.
