World leaders mark second anniversary since Oct. 7, call for end to war and hostage release

Numerous world leaders acknowledged on Tuesday the second anniversary of the Hamas attacks in southern Israel, with calls to end the war and the release of hostages.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that, “The horror of that dark day will be forever seared in the memories of us all. Two years later, hostages remain captive in Gaza in deplorable conditions.

Canadian Oct. 7 ‘martyrs’ events panned for glorifying terrorism

Hamas victims’ families and Canadian Jewish groups are condemning anti-Israel protesters’ plans for events commemorating the “martyrs of Palestine” on Tuesday, the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks.

“When you think they can’t sink any lower, they do,” said Raquel Look, a Montreal woman whose son, Alexandre, was murdered on Oct. 7, 2023, after attending the Nova Music Festival in Re’im, southern Israel.

2 years into the war, these figures illustrate the scale of Israel’s destruction of Gaza

Over the last couple of years, Palestinians across the Gaza Strip have faced unrelenting bombardment, mass hunger and recurring displacement as Israeli fighting continues in the territory.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed more than 67,000 Palestinians and seriously injured nearly 170,000, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The offensive followed the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which killed nearly 1,200 people and took 251 hostages, according to Israeli tallies.

Hamas fires rockets into town attacked on Oct 7

A rocket has been fired from Gaza into an Israeli town that was raided by Hamas terrorists on Oct 7 two years ago to the day.

The projectile struck close to Netiv HaAsara, a small farming community on Gaza’s northern border, on Tuesday morning, the Israeli military said. Nobody was injured during the attack, it added.

Hamas demands release of Oct 7 attackers in exchange for hostages

Hamas has demanded the release of captured terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre, sources have said.

The terror group has reportedly requested that “Nukhba fighters”, the elite special forces unit who led the massacre, be added to the list of currently imprisoned Palestinians slated for release in exchange for the Israeli hostages.

The demand risks scuppering any chance of a deal.

Trump is the Middle East’s best chance of peace

Negotiators from Hamas, the Israeli government and the United States today arrived in Cairo to thrash out the final details of a peace plan. After many false dawns, an agreement here could bring two years of bloodshed to an end.

According to reports in Israel, a breakthrough came when Trump realised that his one-man fixer Steve Witkoff was out of his depth, and added Jared Kushner to the negotiating team. It might be surprising that Kushner, whose great success in life is marrying Ivanka Trump, could have made the difference in such an intractable situation. Yet he has a greater familiarity with Benjamin Netanyahu, not to mention longstanding business contacts in the Arab world.

“The Jewish War”

Yesterday was the day fixed by President Trump by which Hamas had to accept his plan to bring an end to the unpleasantness in Gaza… or else!

While we wait for all hell to break loose. let us consider the words of Jewish Roman historian Flavius Josephus ben Matthias, in The Jewish War.

1950 years ago, Josephus wrote his contemporary account of the great Jewish rebellion against Rome. The insurrection began in 66 A.D. and lasted seven years.

‘An open nerve’: Israelis, Palestinians mark two years of the Gaza war

OTTAWA – Two years into the war in Gaza, the conflict continues to spread anger, frustration and pain across Canada, while Israelis and Palestinians fear the region will never exit the cycle of violence.

Hamas militants and affiliates attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing 1,200 civilians and soldiers and taking roughly 240 people hostage. Israel responded by bombarding the Gaza Strip, killing more than 67,000 civilians and militants, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry.

Israel insists it is neutralizing threats that have been supported by Iran’s government, and is seeking the destruction of Hamas so it can no longer threaten Israel. Israel also argues the United Nations hasn’t done enough to tackle these threats.

Reminder: Hamas and the Palestinian Authority Do Not Believe In Any Peace Process

Any attempt to portray Hamas’s purported acceptance of US President Donald J. Trump’s proposal to end the war in the Gaza Strip as a sign that either the Palestinian Authority (PA) or the Iran-backed Palestinian terror group is now interested in peace with Israel is misleading and baseless.

Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority are not, and never were, interested in peace with Israel. The only peace they envision is one that would see Israel eliminated and replaced with an Islamist state, preferably, each with itself as the head.

Majority of Canadians support Canada’s decision to recognize Palestinian state, Nanos survey finds

A majority of Canadians support the federal government’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state, but many believe it could negatively affect trade relations with the United States, according to a new survey by Nanos Research commissioned by CTV News and the Globe and Mail.

Last month, ahead of a meeting at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister Mark Carney joined a growing list of UN members to recognize a Palestinian state.

NHS doctor who made throat slit gestures to Jews escapes suspension

A junior doctor who made a “slit your throat” gesture to Jewish protesters escaped suspension after a tribunal found that she had a “right to freedom of expression”.

Dr Rahmeh Aladwan, who is training to be a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, has been allowed to continue working for the NHS after a panel of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service said that its duty to protect members of the public “must be balanced with the doctor’s right to freedom of expression” under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Interview with Noa Tishby: Two years after October 7, Israel has lost the PR war

Noa Tishby, one of Israel’s best-known advocates, is waging a narrative battle that she says is aimed as much at defending Western values as the Jewish state.

With an Instagram following of nearly a million and an X following of almost a quarter million, she has fought misinformation in real time since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks, against the TikTok bots, campus protests, and celebrities tilting the court of public opinion against Israel and the West.

Canada needs co-ordinated action plan to combat antisemitism, says former envoy

The federal government “has yet to appreciate the gravity of the threat” of antisemitism today and there needs to be a co-ordinated action plan to counter the problem, says former special envoy Irwin Cotler.

“We can’t continue to work in silos here or say it’s the others’ responsibility,” Cotler said in an interview with CBC’s The House that aired Saturday morning. “No, this is an integrated and collective responsibility.”

Too late. Unless you’re ready to ban islamist migration and carry out mass deportations, purge the universities and teacher colleges, the public service unions and of course the mainstream political parties.

The way things are going it will soon be an islamophobic hate crime to speak against antisemitism.

Oh The Humanity! Celebrity activist Greta Thunberg gets sore bum sitting in Israeli jail!

Celebrity activist Greta Thunberg being held in bedbug-infested cell in Israel: ‘Sitting for long periods on hard surfaces’

Celebrity Climate activist Greta Thunberg claims she’s been subjected to heinous conditions inside a bedbug-infested Israeli holding cell following her detention as part of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza.

Sweden’s Foreign Ministry notified Thunberg’s parents via email, which was shared with The Guardian, that they had met with the outspoken 22-year-old in Israel.

In the email, officials said Thunberg has complained of dehydration, claiming she hasn’t been given enough food or water.

UK Jewish leadership criticizes Tommy Robinson invite to Israel describing him as a bully representing the worst in Britain

The Board of Deputies of British Jews condemned comments by Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, who announced his intention to host right-wing activist Tommy Robinson in Israel later this month.

According to the Board, “Tommy Robinson is a bully representing the worst of Britain. His presence undermines the sincere efforts of those genuinely working to combat Islamic extremism and foster community cohesion.”

The ‘Board of Deputies of British Jews’ seems akin to the ADL suicidally left wing at heart.

I am not sure what allies the ‘Board’ expects to gain by ostracizing Tommy Robinson.

The ‘Board’s’ opposition is to my view dismissive of working class concerns regarding the toll population replacement scale migration has wrought on their lives.

Tommy has many well documented faults but he remains immensely popular especially among the white working class.

Condemning him will be perceived by many as identical to the ADL’s vicious smear of Charlie Kirk.

They best tread carefully or the silence will roar as never before.

Netanyahu says he hopes to announce hostage release in the ‘coming days’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he hopes to announce the release of hostages being held in Gaza “in the coming days”.

In a televised statement, he also said “Hamas will be disarmed and Gaza will be demilitarised – either the easy way or the hard way, but it will be achieved.”

The comments came after Hamas released a statement on Friday in which it agreed to free the hostages under a US peace plan, but did not mention disarmament and sought negotiations on other issues.

Hamas? No one can trust them.
