“It’s over,” said the late Hebrew U. antisemitism expert Robert Wistrich. “It’s a slow death.” It is actually speeding up.

“With the number of Jews plummeting from 3,000 to 600 in just a few years, the Swedish city of Malmö is the barometer of the slow demise of European Jews after the Holocaust,” wrote the late great Holocaust historian Robert Wistrich.

He continued: “It is not for nothing that former European Commissioner Frits Bolkestein advised the Jewish community of Holland to emigrate to avoid harassment by young Muslim fanatics. The prospects in Belgium and Norway are no better. The verdict is on the wall, for anyone with eyes to see. The reward for Europe’s regrettable and cowardly appeasement of Islamism will, however, be short-lived. Because bowing down and willful blindness come at a high cost in the long run. Muslims will eventually take their revenge on a European society that the most fanatical among them already loathe.”

Justin Trudeau’s anti-Islamophobia disaster reveals a government dangerously out of touch with voters

 

MONTREAL—By appointing Amira Elghawaby as his lead representative on the Islamophobia file, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has thrown the equivalent of a political grenade into his Quebec trenches.

The damage to his party and to the cause she is tasked with advancing could be consequential.

Here is an early assessment.

At week’s end, Elghawaby’s appointment had been disavowed by most of the leading figures of Quebec’s political class.

In 2014, her son, Jack Letts, a British-born Muslim convert, travelled to the Middle East to study his faith. His quest led him astray, to Syria and Iraq, the lands controlled by the Islamic State terrorist group.

Lane sent her son, who has Canadian citizenship, the money he sought to escape the war-ravaged territory only to be charged and convicted along with her husband, under U.K. terrorism financing laws in 2019.

She sought out allies to help Letts only to have them turn up as prosecution witnesses against her.

The public is in an uproar over news that a convicted 20-year-old Rochester, Minnesota rapist must serve only 180 days in jail for raping two young girls when he was around 16 years old.

One of convicted rapist Mohamed Bakari Shei’s victims was reportedly nine years old, while the other was four or five at the time.

André Pratte: Did no one vet anti-Islamophobia rep’s past?

We were told by the Prime Minister’s Office that Amira Elghawaby was appointed as Canada’s first Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia “following an open, transparent, and merit-based selection process.” It is beyond my comprehension how such a process would not have involved a simple web search to see whether Elghawaby had said or written something that could be embarrassing for the government or her, or both. For instance, writings that would have revealed a simplistic view of Islamophobia in Québec?

At least the government of Pakistan is more honest than the government of Britain.

The post in question is here. It’s an announcement that that the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest that Pamela Geller and I organized in Garland Texas in May 2015 was sold out, and an excerpt from a Breitbart article about the event. Why has Pakistan been so slow on the uptake here? The post has been out there for over seven and a half years. It could be, of course, because issues of “blasphemy” and the freedom of speech are once again in the news because of the Qur’an-burning in Sweden.

What would it take for Spain—or any society, for that matter—to reassess the scale at which it welcomes immigrants from Muslim-majority countries? Not that such a reassessment would necessarily make a practical difference, since most such immigrants (primarily from neighboring Morocco in Spain’s case) file asylum claims underwritten by EU protocols over which the member states have entirely given up their sovereignty. Though such claims are often long shots, the mere act of filing one immediately shields the applicant from deportation pending a judge’s ruling on whether to grant or deny it. Those immigrants who come in a plainly illegal manner, meanwhile, or those who overstay the denial of their claim, are admittedly a population which, if public opinion supported such a move, the state could more swiftly deport than it currently is.

‘Honour’ killing of YouTube star sparks outrage in Iraq

The death of a young YouTube star at the hands of her father has sparked outrage in Iraq, as so-called “honour” killings continue in the conservative country.

Tiba al-Ali, 22, was killed by her father on 31 January in the southern province of Diwaniya, interior ministry spokesperson Saad Maan said on Twitter on Friday.

Police had attempted to mediate between Ali – who lived in Turkey and was visiting Iraq – and her relatives to “resolve the family dispute in a definitive manner”, Maan said.

Police ban planned Quran burning protest in Norway

Police in Norway have banned a planned protest including the burning of a copy of the Islamic holy book, the Quran, hours after the Turkish foreign ministry summoned the Norwegian ambassador to complain.

A group of protesters planned to burn a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish embassy in Oslo on Friday, police said.

Is it worth having Turkey in NATO?

FATAH: Trudeau’s choice of Hijabi to combat Islamophobia is puzzling

… Just this Tuesday, an Islamic suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan killing over 100 and injuring scores more.

Did Elghawaby have anything to say on these atrocities being committed in the name of Islam? She expressed her discomfort at the protests against the Iranian Islamic regime when she tweeted: “People who are angry with the government in Iran are taking it out on Canadian citizens that are Muslims here.”

Are you taking it out? Clearly, the sight of thousands of exiled Iranians who now call Canada their home upset Elghawaby. What else could we have expected from Trudeau’s new czarina who, instead of criticizing the Ayatollahs of Iran, chose to target fellow Muslims who seek democracy, liberty, freedom of conscience and speech?

She is an Islamist Liar.

Erdogan: Sweden can’t join NATO if Quran-burning is allowed

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed Wednesday that Turkey won’t allow Sweden to join the NATO military alliance as long as the Scandinavian country permits protests desecrating Islam’s holy book to take place.

Turkey, which had already been holding off approving Sweden and Finland’s membership in the Western military alliance, has been infuriated by a series of separate demonstrations in Stockholm. In one case a solitary anti-Islam activist burned the Quran outside the Turkish Embassy, while in an unconnected protest an effigy of Erdogan was hanged. Even before that, Ankara had been pressing Sweden and Finland to crack down on exiled members of Kurdish and other groups it sees as terrorists, and to allow arms sales to Turkey.

At an impromptu shrine outside a shopping centre on the southern reaches of the Stockholm’s commuter belt, teenagers gatherered before photographs of a boy with a faintly goofy smile and voluminous black curls that made him look a little younger than his 15 years.

Ali Shafaei was shot dead here in Skogas on Saturday, the latest victim of a surge of gang violence around the Swedish capital in which at least four teenagers and young men have been killed since Christmas. Over the past month there has, on average, been a shooting or a bombing every day. “It’s extreme out there,” Nikoi Djane, a former criminal turned criminologist, said. “It’s tit for tat. It’s like a game to them now.”
