The Horror! Teacher faces ‘disciplinary action’ for sending home sheet depicting stereotypes

Indigenous student sent home with ‘offensive’ worksheet, prompting audit at Niagara school

Warning: This story contains the image in question. (CBC Trigger warning so you know it’s scary!)

A Niagara-area school is auditing the materials of a teacher who’s facing undisclosed “disciplinary action” after a student was sent home with a worksheet depicting two cartoon characters in stereotypical Indigenous clothing, including feathered headbands.

OMG! Those Little Indians are the stuff of nightmares!

The super-rich ‘preppers’ planning to save themselves from the apocalypse

Tech billionaires are buying up luxurious bunkers and hiring military security to survive a societal collapse they helped create, but like everything they do, it has unintended consequences

As a humanist who writes about the impact of digital technology on our lives, I am often mistaken for a futurist. The people most interested in hiring me for my opinions about technology are usually less concerned with building tools that help people live better lives in the present than they are in identifying the Next Big Thing through which to dominate them in the future. I don’t usually respond to their inquiries. Why help these guys ruin what’s left of the internet, much less civilisation?

Children Being Executed In Class For Not Agreeing To Reduce Their “Carbon Footprint”

A climate change infomercial released in 2010 by a prominent global warming activist organization depicts children being exploded for not agreeing to reduce their “carbon footprint”, as AGW (manmade global warming) skeptics are grotesquely blown up with innards and blood splattering everywhere, a frightening reminder of the fact that the environmental agenda is merely a veil for the hideous New World Order cult of death, and that the vehemently discredited and increasingly desperate global warming movement is resorting to increasingly extremist scare tactics.

Attributing responsibility for political discord to social media ignores the events driving dissatisfaction with contemporary American society.

Our Problems Aren’t Procedural

… Like many centrist arguments of our age, Haidt’s essay emphasizes the procedural over the substantive. Missing from the 8,000-word argument, though, is an acknowledgement that meaningful national problems might also account for the fracture of American democracy. Credentialed experts, smart centrists, and small-l liberals of all stripes held the reins of power right up to 2016. They presided over a catastrophic misadventure in Iraq, two decades of defeat in Afghanistan, a hollowed industrial base, an earth-spanning recession, a secret surveillance regime, an opioid epidemic, and stagnating livelihoods in both the black communities of America’s inner-cities and the white communities of America’s rural hinterlands. With events like these, retweets are hardly needed to explain faltering faith in the American creed.

Smoke and Mirrors: What’s behind the apparent rash of fires at U.S. food-processing facilities?

Is America’s food industry being sabotaged? Consumers got a sense that our food-supply chains might be fragile when Covid-19 outbreaks shut down several meatpacking plants in the spring of 2020. Supermarket meat coolers were thinly stocked for weeks. In 2021, some observers began noticing a seeming uptick in fires and other disruptions at food-production facilities around the country. Soon lists of “suspicious” fires at food plants began circulating on Facebook and Twitter. Our “food supply is under attack,” a typical tweet proclaimed.

By the spring of 2022, the lists of fires and other incidents had grown to include more than 90 events…

You’re (un)invited: ‘Unwelcoming Party’ planned by usual whiners in response to ‘Rolling Thunder’ rally

You’re (un)invited: ‘Unwelcoming Party’ planned in response to ‘Rolling Thunder’ rally

Still reeling from the weeks-long “Freedom Convoy” occupation that brought the city’s downtown core to a standstill earlier this year, anxious Ottawa residents say they want participants of this coming weekend’s biker rally to know they are not welcome in the community.

OMG they’re still “reeling”, I will vote for the politician who announces plans to nuke Ottawa.

What’s happening to the Marines?

Lately, when we think about what’s happening to America’s military under Biden, we’ve been focusing on the Pentagon’s obsessions with race, LGBTQ+++ issues (especially transgenderism), women’s rights, and political “wrong think” (i.e., conservativism). That obsession has consistently put progressive social policy ahead of military cohesion and readiness. However, Jim Webb, who was a Marine infantry officer while in Vietnam, then the Navy secretary under Ronald Reagan and, lastly, a Virginia senator during the Obama years, has written an op-ed about a different concern: The potentially damaging, purely operational changes Marine commandment Gen. David Berger intends to impose on the Corps.

Here’s another reason to hate Ottawa … and the CBC

The trucks have left Ottawa, but ‘phantom honking’ lingers for many downtown

Kevin uses one word to describe the first days of the protests in downtown Ottawa: torture.

“Literally there was trucks right underneath me,” said Kevin, who did not want to provide CBC a last name for fear of reprisal. “It was one thing for me, but I’ve got animals. I’ve got three cats, two dogs. So yeah, it was torture.”

I am ashamed of my country. Via Twitchy.

Revealed: Credit Suisse leak unmasks criminals, fraudsters and corrupt politicians

A massive leak from one of the world’s biggest private banks, Credit Suisse, has exposed the hidden wealth of clients involved in torture, drug trafficking, money laundering, corruption and other serious crimes.

Details of accounts linked to 30,000 Credit Suisse clients all over the world are contained in the leak, which unmasks the beneficiaries of more than 100bn Swiss francs (£80bn)* held in one of Switzerland’s best-known financial institutions.

The leak points to widespread failures of due diligence by Credit Suisse, despite repeated pledges over decades to weed out dubious clients and illicit funds. The Guardian is part of a consortium of media outlets given exclusive access to the data.

Sportswashing has backfired spectacularly

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have accidentally broadcast their sins to the entire world.

Like many fans of other football clubs (Liverpool here), I’ve long had a soft spot for Newcastle. David Ginola, young Gazza, Keegan’s ‘I will love it’ meltdown, the iconic striped shirt, Viz magazine, big Les Ferdinand, that wonderful lilting accent, Newkie Brown, Shearer’s amusingly utilitarian ‘one hand in the air’ goal celebration, Jimmy Nail… what’s not to love about the Toon, like?

So when Newcastle United was bought by the Public Investment Fund – essentially, the nation state of Saudi Arabia – I was, like most, disappointed to say the least.

Scientists believed Covid leaked from Wuhan lab – but decided to lie about it lest the gravy train be upset

Scientists believed Covid leaked from Wuhan lab – but feared debate could hurt ‘international harmony’

Leading British and US scientists thought it was likely that Covid accidentally leaked from a laboratory but were concerned that further debate would harm science in China, emails show.

An email from Sir Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust, on February 2 2020 said that “a likely explanation” was that Covid had rapidly evolved from a Sars-like virus inside human tissue in a low-security lab.

The email, to Dr Anthony Fauci and Dr Francis Collins of the US National Institutes of Health, went on to say that such evolution may have “accidentally created a virus primed for rapid transmission between humans”.

But a leading scientist told Sir Jeremy that “further debate would do unnecessary harm to science in general and science in China in particular”. Dr Collins, the former director of the US National Institutes of Health, warned it could damage “international harmony”.

Gee Wiz! I’m old enough to remember when this was a conspiracy theory. Just like the CIA buying off journalists. “International Harmony” should be read as “Free Money from the ChiComs & Faucis etc”

Scandal: German LGBT magazine profanes the Virgin Mary, Holy Family

In a German LGBT magazine, EU LGBT ambassador and LGBT activist Riccardo Simonetti is depicted as the Virgin Mary just in time for its December publication.

The photo has its critics, who say that the magazine is going out of its way to mock Christians during the holidest moment of the season. Unlike Muslims, who have been known to kill those who mock the prophet Muhammad, Germany’s Siegessaule Magazin published the photos knowing that Christians tend to protest but do not react with violence to such profanity.

NYC’s Tenement Museum faces backlash after it REPLACES story of white Irish immigrants with woke tale of black New Jersey family who never even lived in the Lower East Side building

The Tenement Museum is facing backlash for scrubbing the history of the white immigrants who inhabited the building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side with stories about black and other races that never stepped foot in its now-hallowed hallways.

Chief among the complaints is the museum replacing the story of an Irish family who resided at the building at 103 Orchard Street in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with that of a black man – who worked near the building and lived in New Jersey for much of his life.

When the museum opened in 1988, it was devoted to re-creating the immigrant experience of the more than 7,000 people who inhabited the 22 apartments in the five-story building during the 19th and 20th centuries.
