Several now well known religious and political leaders came out on Saturday to speak at a protest at the Remand Centre for Tim Stephens, pastor of Fairview Baptist Church, who is currently in prison for holding an outdoors Sunday service because the RCMP had seized Fairview Church’s property.

Up to 5 years prison for attending Tiananmen Massacre vigil, Hong Kong gov’t warns – 1 year jail for publicising it

Hong Kong’s Security Bureau has warned Hongkongers not to take part in this year’s Tiananmen Massacre vigil on June 4, or commemorative long-distance run this Sunday.

“The relevant meetings and procession are unauthorised assemblies. No one should take part in it, or advertise or publicise it, or else he or she may violate the law,” a statement said on Saturday.

Tiny House Warriors on trial

The trial of three members of an outspoken First Nations protest group is a case about “suppression of Indigenous voices” and “over-policing” of Canada’s First Nations people, a judge has been told.

Nicole Manuel, Chantel Manuel and Isha Jules, members of the Tiny House Warriors, are facing charges of mischief, causing a disturbance and assault stemming from an altercation with security and police outside a December 2018 meeting about the ongoing Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.

Toronto, Montreal see thousands protest against COVID restrictions

Canada’s largest city saw what appeared to be its largest protest against municipal and provincial lockdown restrictions yet. On a day where temperatures were above the seasonal average, a crowd that seemed to be in the thousands gathered on the lawns of Ontario’s legislature, Queen’s Park, just as they had nearly a year earlier.

Protesters started to fill the area shortly before noon, with police taking a mostly hands-off approach to the crowd, unlike previous weeks.

Oklahoma House passes bill that would protect drivers who hit protestors

According to a news release, the bill would create a new section of law to protect motor vehicle operators fleeing a riot under a reasonable belief their actions were necessary to protect them from serious injury or death. It also would update language in statute relating to those who are convicted of illegal activity during the course of riots.
