Ford despite being a Progress Conservative politician has been quite warm with Justin Trudeau over the last couple of years, even seeming to help him win reelection in 2021 by distancing himself from Erin O’Toole and complementing the Liberals leadership during COVID.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau doubled down on his rhetoric against the Freedom Convoy and the border blockades during a press conference Friday. He threatened “real consequences with respect to their [truckers’] licenses to their jobs.”
CTV News Ottawa first reported last week that local towing companies were rejecting Ottawa police requests for help towing vehicles from the ‘red zone.” A source said police were considering launching a criminal investigation into whether intimidation of the tow truck companies is leading to a lack of cooperation.
In defiance of the order, the U.S. based organization said that the court has no jurisdiction over its decisions and plans to disburse the funds to the protesters for whom the crowdfund was created.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as is to be expected, is repeating himself like a trained parrot, saying nothing but out of touch slogans about vaccines and science and swastikas to avoid the questions.
However, there is a mutiny brewing within the Liberal Party, and things are not going Trudeau’s way. So far two Liberal Members of Parliament (MPs) have broken ranks and accused the Prime Minister of dividing Canadians, using COVID as an excuse to put a wedge between people for political gain. Both MPs say they represent a growing faction in Trudeau’s own party.
On Feb. 7, Canadians protesting the nation’s cross-border vaccine mandate and other pandemic-related restrictions began a blockade of the Ambassador Bridge, a vital crossing over the Detroit River between the Motor City and Windsor, Ontario. Constructed in 1929, the bridge is a vital trade artery between the two nations with $323 million worth of goods crossing over it each day—over a quarter of the trade between the U.S. and its neighbor to the north.
Trudeau is becoming the ultimate example. Truckers last month began protesting a January 22nd rule that required the production of vaccine passports before crossing the U.S.-Canadian border. Canadian truckers are reportedly 90% vaccinated, above the country’s 78% total, a key detail that’s been brazenly ignored by media in both countries determined to depict these more as “anti-vax” than “anti-mandate” protests (which seem to be about many things at once, but that’s another story). When an angry convoy descended upon the capital, Trudeau dismissed them in a soliloquy that can only be described as inspired political arson:
The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa, who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing, do not represent the views of Canadians…who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to ensure our rights, our freedoms, our values as a country.
So Trudeau comes out and condemns the massive freedom protests, saying that “individuals are trying to blockade our economy, our democracy, and our fellow citizens’ daily lives. It has to stop.”
Oh, honey. Bless your little authoritarian heart. You can’t be serious. You can’t be this dense.

Since the freedom convoy has rolled into Ottawa, the Conservatives have ousted their leader, Saskatchewan has announced an end to all Covid restrictions, Alberta has ditched its vaccine passport, and Quebec has abandoned its tax on the unvaccinated and started to phase out its restrictions. Whenever any of the politicians behind these moves have been asked, they’ve said the convoy has nothing to do with it, but that honking you hear in the distance begs to differ.

Without any evidence, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said during a Monday council meeting that a weekend arson attempt at an apartment building in the city “clearly demonstrates the malicious intent” of the truckers’ convoy on Parliament Hill.
Good grief, when the leftist government in Canada gets pushback, they really don’t know how to handle it. Earlier today, the Canadian government expressed extreme anger toward any American citizen who may have made a financial contribution to the Freedom Protest.
