Donald Trump Floats Launching New Social Media Platform After Twitter Ban

Following Wednesday’s violent attacks on the Capitol building, virtually all major social media platforms decided to suspend President Donald Trump, accusing him of inciting violence. The latest tech giant to remove the president’s account was Twitter, a network he has often used to communicate with supporters and opponents alike.

Almost immediately after he was banned, Trump returned to Twitter using the @POTUS account. As The Hill reported, in a series of messages that have since been removed, the commander-in-chief floated the idea of launching his own network in order to avoid censorship and allow conservatives to have a voice.

The new dark age of silencing

With the Democrats in control of the government, these leftist internet platforms know they have nothing to fear by doing this, that if anything the Democrats controlling Congress will applaud them and encourage them to censor more conservative and Republican outlets, to shut them all down if possible.

Swedish Alternative Media Organise Blackout to Protest YouTube Censorship

Sweden’s largest alternative media outlets have claimed that IT giants fully control the infrastructure that people need to make use of their freedom of expression, and called on the government to protect it from digital censorship, amid the public outrage as YouTube deleted a popular channel.

Five of Sweden’s largest alternative media have organised a daily blackout to protest the disappearance of SwebbTV, a popular channel with tens of thousands of subscribers, from YouTube, and published an open letter accusing the government of complicity in censorship by IT giants.

Tech censorship: how paranoid should we be?

Tech censorship: how paranoid should we be?

Recently, in the comments underneath our LockdownTV YouTube videos, people have been saying that our videos are being ‘downrated’ on YouTube search. Type in Aella, or Michael Levitt, for example, and videos come above ours in the search results that are much older, viewed much fewer times, and come from channels that have much smaller followings. I hate the idea of being conspiracist, and feel it’s a bit rich to make accusations of censorship against a platform that has brought us so many views and followers, but could it be that heterodox channels like ours have found their way onto a blacklist of channels that should be ever so gently… suppressed?

‘Does Congress Know That This Is How Communism Starts?’: Trump Condemns Big Tech Policing of Free Speech

‘Does Congress Know That This Is How Communism Starts?’: Trump Condemns Big Tech Policing of Free Speech

President Donald Trump on Christmas Eve repeated his concerns over Big Tech censorship a day after he vetoed a defense-spending bill over Congress’s failure to remove liability protections for Silicon Valley’s social media companies.

“Twitter is going wild with their flags, trying hard to suppress even the truth. Just shows how dangerous they are, purposely stifling free speech. Very dangerous for our Country. Does Congress know that this is how Communism starts?” Trump said in a Twitter post on Thursday night.

“Cancel Culture at its worst. End Section 230!” he said.

Polish Bill Threatens $2.2 Million Fines For Social Media Companies Who Censor Lawful Speech

As UK lawmakers consider a 2021 ‘Online Safety Bill,’ which would allow fines of up to £18 million (US$24 million) against online platforms that ‘fail to protect users or remove harmful content,” (including ‘disinformation and cyberbullying‘) things are a little different in Poland, where sticks and stones still have an advantage over words and political opinions.

Toward a Better Social Media

Toward a Better Social Media

It isn’t just the censorship and bogus fact-checking that make Facebook and Twitter so awful.

…Since we began this process a few years ago and throughout our research period we have seen many companies rushing to market in our space. Each of these companies have the best of intentions trying to create a solution in this era of censorship and cancel culture. The biggest for these startups is that unless they understand the depths of big tech and have the right team in place to build an infrastructure they will all be reliant on competitor technology and always at risk for being shut down. Amazon AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure control the market when it comes to hosting. Unfortunately, all run their cloud technology through Chinese data centers….

Bill Gates Smears Parler and its Users

Social(ist) Media finally has a serious competitor, and leftists are having a tantrum.

Here’s the latest endorsement for Parler:

“If somebody goes to Parler, they are saying, “I like crazy stuff.” -Bill Gates

Bad enough that leftists like Gates are all for banning those they disagree with, but now they’re targeting a platform that is the first truly viable alternative to the mess that Facebook and Twitter have made of themselves, for not being ban crazy.
