According to organic farming proponent and former U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) soil scientist Kelly Walker, in order to keep the billions of people around the world fed, a paced switch to a hybrid approach is needed over any extreme changes based on an arbitrary number to allow the soil the many years it needs to transition away from chemical fertilizers to a more organic future.

Justin Trudeau has joined the mad war on farmers. The king of virtue-signalling is insisting that nitrous oxide emissions be cut by 30 per cent by 2030. It’s all about Canada doing its bit for the planet, he says. But such a severe reduction in nitrogen-use would be disastrous for the planet. It would mean Canadian farmers being pressured to use less fertiliser, which would mean fewer crops, which would mean less food not only for the people of Canada but for people around the world. Saving the planet by starving human beings – even by the morally vacuous standards of a flimsy ruler like Trudeau, that is messed up.

There is something happening in the Netherlands that has been happening for weeks, which if anything even closely resembling it were happening in Canada, especially in Ottawa, it would surely be called an “insurrection.” It might even have cabinet ministers and the prime minister calling those participating an intolerable “fringe minority.” Come to think of it, it would probably have driven the government to invoke the civil-rights-denying Emergencies Act, and arrest any of its leaders, especially any of those from the rebellion hot spot of darkest and most menacing Medicine Hat.

The Dutch farmers have had it and they are not going to take it anymore. There has been burning of bales on major roadways, spraying manure at government buildings and even the police, blocking food distribution centers and roadways, and a supermarket company funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation went up in flames. There has even been a purchase of a tank and a tractor converted into a tank circulating on social media. At concerts the Dutch people have been supporting their farmers with everyone wearing red kerchiefs, straw hats, and throwing straw in the air like confetti. The grocery shelves in Holland are emptying rapidly with real food shortage: “No farmers. No Food.” is how the farmers have put it very succinctly.
