Some Canadian prisons now have clinics where inmates can freely use smuggled drugs

Although it’s still prohibited to bring drugs into a Canadian prison, the Correctional Service of Canada has now ordained that if you do manage to sneak in narcotics, they’ll help you consume them safely.

Kingston, Ont.’s Collins Bay Institution will soon be opening an “overdose prevention service” (OPS) at which inmates can consume smuggled drugs under medical supervision.

Poilievre fires back at WestJet union after speaking on flight’s PA system

Pierre Poilievre is accusing a union representing WestJet employees of “trying to silence freedom of speech” by demanding an apology from the company after the Conservative leader spoke on the PA system on a recent flight.

A video circulating online shows Poilievre making short remarks on a flight that was leaving Quebec City for Calgary Sunday night after the Conservative Party of Canada’s convention.

This is the sort of crap that should get the CBC defunded.

On The Bright Side More Dead Canadians Good For The Environment

The average life expectancy for Canadians decreased, and 4 other takeaways from a just-released health report

The data collected mid-way through the pandemic shows the impact of COVID-19, especially when it comes to how long Canadians are living.

The life expectancy for Canadians, which was at a steady incline since the 1980s, began to decline in 2020 and again in 2021, as a direct result of staggering death rates related to COVID-19, as well as substance-related harms that increased during the pandemic. In 2021, the life expectancy at birth dropped to 81.6 from 81.7 in 2020.

To hell with woke publishers

The gatekeepers of the creative industry are riddled with a nasty strain of identity politics.

ASH Literary is on the hunt for budding children’s book authors. ‘We are actively seeking voices that have historically been underrepresented’, the submissions section of the agency’s website tells us. ‘For example, we are not interested in stories about white, able-bodied [Second World War] evacuees, but would welcome that story from a disabled, LGBTQ+ or BIPOC [black, indigenous or people of colour] perspective’, it explains.

A grim report about climate change in Ontario was kept quiet for 8 months

Southern Ontario to see 60 days of temperatures over 30 degrees by 2080s: report

A new report commissioned by Premier Doug Ford’s government warns that climate change poses high risks to Ontario, with impacts on everything from food production to infrastructure to businesses.

The report – called the Provincial Climate Change Impact Assessment – projects a soaring number of days with extreme heat across Ontario, as well as increases in flooding and more frequent wildfires.

Presented to the government in January but only posted publicly in late August, the government did not issue a news release about the report. It follows a summer where Ontarians faced at times extreme heat, heavy rainstorms and unprecedented wildfire smoke.

Boy that’s some entrail reader they must have. Imagine being able to predict the temperature in the 2080’s.

These are the same guys who think EV’s are a smart move.

No new money for asylum seekers in Toronto after Chow meets with federal Immigration Minister

… “Toronto has time and time again begged for some crumbs,” Chow said. “I met with the minister, I pled my case about refugees and they’re thinking about it.”
