Roommates were home when 4 University of Idaho students slaughtered — but called 911 hours later

Two roommates were inside the home where four University of Idaho students were slaughtered, authorities revealed Wednesday – but the 911 call wasn’t made until hours later.

City of Moscow Police Chief James Fry also said the two roommates were home when police responded to a call of an unconscious person and discovered a gory slaying described as “the worst they’ve ever seen.”

The latest revelation came during a press conference held by police and school officials where Fry also backtracked about how concerned the community should be about an ongoing threat after authorities originally said the public was not in danger following the quadruple homicide.

Not exactly inspiring police work. This has gone from “crime of passion” & no further community danger to 2 roommates were home but only called 911 hours after the fact and be on the lookout for a Kabar knife.

Brenda Lucki vows to keep top RCMP job amid cabinet discontent

Embattled RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki says she wants to remain at the helm of the federal police force even as she faces growing dissatisfaction at the highest levels of the government over her leadership.

Commissioner Lucki, who has dealt with a series of controversies that has put the government on the defensive, said she does not want to step aside. Her five-year term comes up for renewal in March.

“I’m absolutely staying on as Commissioner of the RCMP,” she told reporters late Tuesday evening after testifying at the inquiry into the invocation of the Emergencies Act.

Brenda Lucki is untroubled, even in hindsight

… Again and again the same pattern played out: A lawyer would probe in a few different ways to get at a piece of information, and Commissioner Lucki would repeatedly answer a question just off-centre of what was actually being asked. It was impossible to tell whether it was obfuscation or genuine confusion, and she was affably apologetic after each clarification.

Unfit.

MANDEL: Senior cop accused of interfering in probe of nephew’s car crash

It’s another potential black eye for the men and women in blue.

Another high-ranking Toronto Police officer is before the disciplinary tribunal on misconduct charges — and these latest allegations are an especially bad look: Insp. Joyce Schertzer is accused of interfering in an investigation into her nephew’s car crash and letting him leave the scene before any possible impairment investigation could take place.

… The well-respected officer has known all too well how allegations can torpedo a career — she was married to John Schertzer, the former head of a Toronto Police drug squad who was convicted of attempted obstruction of justice in 2013.
