In Epping, it’s the left vs the people

Locals are being smeared as far right and racist by posh, privileged so-called socialists.

For over a week, protests have rumbled outside a taxpayer-funded refugee hotel in Epping, Essex. Protesters, mostly local, have been angered by allegations an Ethiopian migrant housed at the Bell Hotel sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl. The unrest was further fuelled by the hotel’s proximity to a local school, and the fact that the suspect had arrived on a small boat just eight days prior to being charged.

Don Cherry, one of the greatest Canadians in the nation’s history — for a time

What people want to know these days about the hockey coach, bad-boy television persona and Kingston icon is whether they’ll hear from Grapes again

On a July morning, Dan and Theresa Mosier put on their sunglasses and park as usual in their chairs on the porch, waving at passersby driving into the village of Marysville, Ont., or neighbours on foot, waiting for grandkids to drop in. This is their retirement idyll.

Dan had been the proprietor of the Oco gas station next to their house for 35 years, but he boarded it up three years ago. In bygone days, it’d be open for business, cars pulling up to the pumps, tourists unfamiliar with Wolfe Island walking into the shop to ask for directions.

Is this the end of genderism?

We are reaching trans tipping point

Sometimes, I wonder how I will know when the reign of genderism is definitively over. As philosophers say, I like to consider various possible worlds. Will it be when a national inquiry is held into child transition? Or when a whole month goes by without a drag queen story on the BBC website? Or when the head of MI6 finally takes the pronouns out of his X bio? “Gradually, then suddenly” is how Hemingway described going bankrupt. One hopes this applies to the morally bankrupt too.

It’s a Miracle! I can hear again!

I picked up my Rexton Reach hearing aids from Costco today.

After a bit of measurement and set-up which involved some woman screaming at me in German we paired the aids to my phone and I was off to the races.

The app allows me to pick up my calls or stream podcasts etc.

Popping the aids into the ear canal is easy enough, if things are too loud you shoved ’em in a little too far. The little rubber tips (see pic above) are soft and malleable. I don’t notice them at all. You get a lifetime supply of these as needed courtesy of Costco.

I am pleasantly surprised at how discreet they are, you have to look hard to know they’re there.

The directional hearing feature accessed in the Phone App works as advertised.  I can if I wish focus on the person/people in front of me or capture the room.

Then I learned all about changing the “bug screen” aka “filter” and how to use the tool to manage this monthly task. The good news is the screens come preloaded on the tool and replacements are free forever.

Charging is easy peasy and the case itself will hold 3 full charges without needing to be re-juiced.

There’s a tinny sound to my own voice, lessened by a volume adjustment which should dissipate over a few weeks.

I am surprised at the sounds I pick up now and simply never heard before.

I can now hear my keyboard click as each key is pressed.

Costco has great prices, aftercare and warranty etc. Worth a look.

All six Canadian venues cancel Christian musician Sean Feucht’s shows

U.S. Christian musician Sean Feucht is continuing his Canadian tour in spite of having to find new venues for all six shows.

The City of Vaughan, Ont., where Feucht was to have finished the first leg of the Let Us Worship: Revive in 25 tour on Sunday afternoon at the Dufferin District Park, confirmed to National Post that it had cancelled the special event permit “on the basis of health and safety as well as community standards and well-being.”

The Ugly Canadian is not a myth.

John Carpay: The Glaring Double Standard in the Prosecution of Lich and Barber

If Chris Barber and Tamara Lich had organized a series of massive rallies in Ottawa to protest the federal government’s failure to control the earth’s climate, would they have been criminally charged with mischief and held responsible for clogging up Ottawa’s downtown core?

If Tamara Lich had urged thousands of Canadians to come to Ottawa to support indigenous rights, and if this very large protest had inconvenienced some Ottawa residents for weeks on end, would they have been portrayed in the media (even before they arrived in Ottawa) as dangerous and potentially violent members of a “fringe minority” with “unacceptable views”?

Trump’s steel tariffs against Canada have been working just how he wants

For the hundreds of Canadian steelworkers who lost their jobs this year amid President Donald Trump’s trade war, talk of reaching a trade deal between Canada and the U.S. is coming too little, too late.

For Trump, the effects — driving down imports, boosting the U.S. steel industry and winning concessions from Canada — seem to be getting him what he wants.

This man wants to build UFO technology for America

Salvatore Pais, who filed a space-travel patent on behalf of the US navy, believes that aliens are real and that China wants to steal his science

Ten years ago, the US navy filed a patent that seemed to describe aircraft that could soar into space and accelerate at speeds faster than light.

At the time, conspiracy theorists said it was evidence that the military had discovered UFOs and was re-engineering alien technology. The navy did not address such claims and has since let the patents lapse.

But now Salvatore Pais, 57, the aerospace engineer who invented the science behind the patents and filed them on behalf of the navy, said he was worried the Chinese were developing the same technology.

Grading the Second Trump Presidency, Six Months In

His second administration is off to a very strong — and fast — start.

Over the course of four years’ banishment to America’s political wilderness while subjected to both a would-be assassin’s bullets and the humiliating and unprecedented spectacle of criminal prosecution by his political opponents, Donald Trump seems to have intuited a key life lesson: Time is of the essence. Carpe diem, seize the day. And so it has been. Like a thoroughbred bursting out of the Kentucky Derby starting gate, the second Trump administration has been racing full speed ahead ever since Trump was inaugurated once again as president of the United States. If the Derby is the “fastest two minutes in sports,” then this has surely been the fastest six months in modern presidential history.

Judge in Hockey Canada sex assault trial came out swinging in her verdict, and she got it right

The complainant’s testimony was not credible (that’s the judge speaking) but she certainly did take the stand with an attitude of presumed credibility (that’s me speaking).

She did those things, said those things, enticed those things — a succubus who aggressively demanded the sex acts that unfolded in room 209 of the Delta Armouries Hotel more than seven years ago — maybe even initiated them. No evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that consent wasn’t given, from hookup start with a hunky hockey player to tawdry finish with five hockey players variously sexually serviced. Oral sex, vaginal sex and moaning masturbatory sex for their stunned amusement.
