Trial for ‘Freedom Convoy’ organizers not about their political beliefs, Crown says

OTTAWA – “Freedom Convoy” organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber are not on trial for their political beliefs, a Crown prosecutor told an Ottawa courtroom Tuesday.

Rather, they must answer to charges related to the means they used to achieve their goal.

Tim Radcliffe told the court the two organizers didn’t just “hold the line” during their illegal occupation of downtown Ottawa last year, they “crossed the line, and in so doing they committed multiple crimes.”

What the Left Did to Our Country

In the last 20 years, the Left has boasted that it has gained control of most of America institutions of power and influence—the corporate boardroom, media, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, the administrative state, academia, foundations, social media, entertainment, professional sports, and Hollywood.

With such support, between 2009-17, Barack Obama was empowered to transform the Democratic Party from its middle-class roots and class concerns into the party of the bicoastal rich and subsidized poor—obsessions with big money, race, a new intolerant green religion, and dividing the country into a binary of oppressors and oppressed.

The Misogyny Myth: Women aren’t discriminated against in twenty-first-century America—but men increasingly are.

Misogyny is supposedly rampant in modern society, but where, exactly, does it lurk? For decades, researchers have hunted for evidence of overt discrimination against women as well as subtler varieties, like “systemic sexism” or “implicit bias.” But instead of detecting misogyny, they keep spotting something else.

How Terrorist Leaders, Backed by Iran, Exploit Palestinians

The leaders of Iran’s Palestinian terror proxies, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), say they are “not afraid” of Israeli threats to assassinate them for their responsibility in the ongoing wave of terror attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.

If the Hamas and PIJ leaders are not afraid of the threats, why are they taking extreme precautionary measures to avoid being killed by Israel? If they are not afraid of the threats, why have many of them evacuated their offices and gone into hiding? Why do the terror leaders seem so nervous about the possibility that they may be killed that they are threatening to retaliate against Israel if any one of them is targeted?

French schools send home girls wearing abayas

Dozens of girls who turned up for school in France on Monday wearing abayas in defiance of a ban on the Muslim garment were sent home when they refused to remove them, a government minister told French broadcaster BFM on Tuesday.

The abaya, an over-garment covering the body from shoulders to feet that some Muslim women wear, was banned in schools by the French government last month.

The government says the abaya constitutes a display of religious affiliation, banned at schools under a 2004 law.

Trudeau Floodtide: Undercounting of an estimated million non-permanent residents means GDP & housing crisis are worse than reported

Undercounting of an estimated million non-permanent residents could affect per-capita GDP, say economists

Economists are warning that Ottawa’s reported undercounting of non-permanent residents by around one million in the official figures could have an impact on Canada’s per capita GDP – a global measure used to gauge a country’s prosperity.

They say that understating the number of non-permanent residents could skew assessments of how Canada’s economy is growing along with its population, and that actual per capita gross domestic product might be lower than reported.

How a parts shortage and corporate infighting hamper efforts to repair Ukraine’s Leopard tanks

High prices, corporate rivalries and a shortage of spare parts hobbled efforts this spring to set up a new repair facility in Poland for Ukraine’s Leopard tanks — and in some cases have limited the usefulness of the donated Western vehicles, CBC News has learned.

Poland, Germany and Canada began discussions back in the spring to set up a maintenance hub for dozens of armoured vehicles donated to the embattled Eastern European country.

The sophisticated main battle tanks were touted in western capitals as a war-winning strategy — one that would help Ukrainians turn the tide and drive Russian troops out of the country.

Former Canadian fighter pilots face RCMP probe over training work in China

The RCMP are investigating three former Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilots who are training military and civilian pilots in China, even though their employer, a South African flying academy, insists no sensitive information is being passed on to Chinese authorities.

The work the three pilots are doing in China has also come under scrutiny from Canadian security officials, who reached out to the former top guns in late August. The Department of National Defence says it referred the matter to the RCMP.

Trudeau’s Shithole Canada: The housing crisis is leaving Ukrainian evacuees homeless in Calgary. Here’s why

Snizhana Bora was forced from her home in Kharkiv by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

She left her father, a brother and husband behind to bring her mother and four-year-old daughter to safety in Canada — only to spend the last three months in a desperate search for somewhere to live.

“It was terrible. I really cried every day,” she told CBC News.
