What if the ‘out of Africa’ theory is wrong?

Those who have lived through the last two decades will be well acquainted with the increasing rigidity applied to scientific theories that also hold political value.

We have returned to an age where the truth of a theory comes second to its significance as scaffolding maintaining the validity of lucrative ideological and economic causes. This is what happens when the proverb ‘knowledge is power’ becomes corrupted by the idea of ‘divine knowledge used by the powerful’ – the latter being little more than a cynical dogma protected by a mixture of censorship and propaganda.

A Silly Scheme by Green Zealots to Appease the Global Warming Gods?

On the evening of Feb. 22, 2020, Satartia, a small town in Yazoo County, Mississippi, was enveloped in a fog of fetid gas following a loud boom. People collapsed, shaking and breathless, vehicles choked to a halt, and first responders were bewildered. It took four hours to bring the situation under control. Two hundred people were evacuated to safety; 49 had to be hospitalized. Three years later, respiratory problems still plague many residents.

It’s not a conspiracy theory – there really is a war on the car

Of all the callous things the state could do to its citizens during a cost-of-living crisis, making them pay to drive their own cars is surely one of the worst. As if it wasn’t bad enough that the cost of foodstuffs has risen by 15 per cent, now you’ll have to pay through the nose just to get to the shop that sells those foodstuffs. As if it wasn’t tough enough forking out for your kids’ school uniforms and stationery, now you’ll have to pay for the privilege of dropping the kids at the schoolgates. As if it wasn’t hard enough getting time off work to visit your poorly mother in a care home, now you’ll have to stump up £12.50 to get to that care home.

John Mellencamp: Only 1-2% of Black People in Modern America Have Better Lives than Slaves

He and Springsteen should record an album of Negro Spirituals

80s rock singer John Mellencamp says that nearly all blacks in America today are no better off than they were during slavery.

Appearing on Bill Maher’s Club Random Podcast, the Jack and Diane singer made the outrageous claim that only “1% or 2% of black people in America” have it any better than the slaves did 200 years ago.

Canada’s Fashionable Lie

The California man who shot and killed the owner of the Mag.Pi clothing store in Cedar Glen, Calif. , on August 18 did so after making “disparaging remarks” about the Pride flag that adorned the establishment. The suspect, who was later killed by police, is alleged to have attempted to take down Pride-related regalia outside the store and issued homophobic remarks ahead of the violence. The sequence of events suggests that anti-LGBT sentiment at least partly inspired this attack. The event made headlines across the United States, in part, because atrocities like these are so blessedly rare.

Politicians should stop using confusion over trans issues as dog whistle for intolerance

Scott Moe’s conservative government in Saskatchewan is emulating Blaine Higgs’s conservative government in New Brunswick by requiring teachers to obtain the consent of parents before a student may change their name or pronoun at school.

Polls suggest a large majority of Canadians support the measures. The majority is wrong. The politicians are wrong.

Conservative politicians are using confusion over trans issues as a dog whistle for LGBTQ+ intolerance. They should stop.

Well-meaning people can be forgiven for believing that parents, not the state, are best equipped to handle gender dysphoria among youth.

Another Trudeau Lie: A million more non-permanent residents live in Canada than official figures, ministers told

A leading economist warned federal ministers at their cabinet retreat last week that there are around one million more non-permanent residents living in Canada, including foreign students, than government estimates suggest.

The warning came in a briefing from Benjamin Tal, deputy chief economist at CIBC Capital Markets. He told the Liberal government gathering in Charlottetown that the undercounting in the official statistics means Canada is underestimating the number of new homes required to meet the country’s increasing housing needs.

What happened to Canada’s ‘mass graves’?

The story of ‘mass graves’ at Canada’s infamous residential schools continues to unravel.

Two years ago, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys revealed what were said to be mass burial sites near or on the grounds of numerous former ‘residential schools’. These schools were set up at the end of the 19th century to educate Inuit and First Nations children, in order to assimilate them into Canadian society. Undoubtedly, many indigenous children were mistreated in residential schools, but mass killings had never been alleged before.

When “Professionalism” Means Politics

An Ontario appeals court rules that Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson must undergo social-media training because of the “harm” caused by his political speech.

An Ontario court has ruled that the College of Psychologists of Ontario can require Jordan Peterson to take social-media training with a board-chosen therapist. Failing to abide by the college’s orders could mean that Peterson would lose his clinical license.

The college had claimed earlier this year that several of Peterson’s tweets were “problematic, unethical or unprofessional,” leading it to demand that he take the social-media training. It also demanded that Peterson, who stopped practicing as a clinical psychologist in 2017, make the following public statement: “I may have lacked professionalism in public statements and during a January 25, 2022, podcast appearance [on The Joe Rogan Experience].”

The Magical Thinking of Never Trump

Why do they believe the problems he has faced will miraculously disappear for their preferred candidate?

Why does the Never-Trump crowd, the earnest viewers of the Republican primary debate, believe that the tactics used against Donald Trump won’t be used against their preferred candidate? Why can’t they explain how Nikki Haley wins the primary, never mind the general election? Or how does Ron DeSantis overcome the structural fraud problems in every state with a Soros secretary of state?

Fear and complacency in Taiwan

Taiwanese officials talk tough. Are they as prepared as they claim?

On a recent trip to Taiwan as a guest of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I knew that war with an increasingly belligerent China is a daily possibility. Chinese ships are in constant circulation in the Taiwan Strait. Chinese aircraft unceasingly fly near the island, getting close to Taiwanese air space. Beijing’s increasingly threatening language about forced “unification” seems to bring a catastrophic attack closer. Genuine fear fluttered in the wake of Nancy Pelosi’s visit in August last year when China launched three days of drills that paid no regard to what they called the “imaginary” median line, which divides Chinese from Taiwanese territory.
