CBC must face WE Charity defamation lawsuit in a U.S. court, judge rules

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) must face a defamation lawsuit by a U.S. charity alleging the publicly funded news outlet repeatedly aired false claims that it deceived its donors, a Washington, D.C., federal judge has ruled.

U.S. District Judge Randolph D. Moss on Tuesday rejected the CBC’s bid to dismiss the case on the grounds that a Canadian court would be the more appropriate venue.

WE Charity, which once operated in Canada but is suing through its U.S. affiliate based in upstate New York, alleged in its February 2022 complaint that the CBC knowingly aired false claims that the nonprofit inflated the number of schoolhouses it had built in Kenya and deceived donors about how their money was being spent, among other things

France: Worst Riots In 20 Years

Video showed officer allegedly telling 17-year-old victim, ‘I’m going to put a bullet in your head’, before he shot him

Youths hurled fireworks and stones at police and torched cars on the fringes of a march in a Paris suburb in memory of a 17-year-old French-Algerian boy shot by police.

The youths disrupted the march, which was led by the teenager’s mother. She and most of the more than 6,000 people who were taking part dispersed after violence broke out, leaving the troublemakers to face armed and helmeted police. Palls of acrid black smoke rose from burning, overturned cars.

France will mobilise 40,000 police officers across the country this evening to deal with the protests.

Refugee who first fled Afghanistan then Trump’s America graduates U of T with goal to help others

… However, his stay in the U.S. didn’t last long. He arrived in the country in 2018, during the Donald Trump administration, and Malikyar said it “wasn’t a good idea for me to stay” because of the then-president’s anti-immigration agenda.

During his month-long stay in the U.S., Malikyar heard his hometown was under attack by the Taliban, so he reckoned his next best option would be to cross into Canada through Roxham Road and claim asylum. And so he did.

What horseshit.

Supreme Court Bans Affirmative Action in College Admissions

The Supreme Court has ruled that it is unlawful for colleges and universities to use race as a factor in admissions, overturning rulings from as far back as 1978 that claimed institutions of higher education had a valid interest in promoting racial diversity on campus and could thus give favorable consideration to black and Latino applicants in their admissions process.

The scope of the fire risk posed by electric vehicles (EVs) is not well-understood, says a National Research Council of Canada report.

Multi-Faith Coalition Of Immigrant Parents Protest Maryland Public Schools’ Woke Sex Ed

ROCKVILLE, Md.—Here at the crossroads of Mannakee Street and College Drive in the suburbs of the nation’s capital, woke intersectionalism came to die.

Outside the headquarters of Montgomery County Public Schools, a cleric at a local Ethiopian Orthodox church stood in a white turban, gold-colored robe, and church insignia. Like Seyouman Getahun was in an interfaith crowd of about 1,000 parents, students, and community members. The crowd of largely “brown and black” people, as equity warriors so often colorize minorities, rallied for the right of parents to opt children out of age-inappropriate sex education in local public schools.

Chasing the ‘Aldi effect’: Why it’s hard for discount grocers to break into Canada

But Charlebois also points the finger at the Competition Bureau, arguing its policing of the industry “devalues” Canada’s reputation as a good place to do business.

A push to bring more competition into the Canadian grocery sector in the form of discount European brands such as Aldi and Lidl would face steep obstacles in Canada’s fragmented marketplace, experts say.

The Competition Bureau’s probe into concentration among Canada’s grocers released Tuesday highlighted the role international competitors could play in lowering prices as food inflation continues to cause pain at the grocery store.

When you let Billionaires off with a slap on the wrist for a 14 year long price fixing grift foreign competion gets the message that the hometown Oligopolies rule in Canada.

Racist Canadian Smoke Stalks Blacks Warns Great White Weather Girl!

Smoke from Canada wildfires is increasing health risks in Black and poorer U.S. communities

DETROIT – Smoky air from Canada’s wildfires shrouded broad swaths of the U.S. from Minnesota to New York and Kentucky on Wednesday, prompting warnings to stay inside and exacerbating health risks for people already suffering from industrial pollution.

The impacts are particularly hard on poor and minority communities that are more likely to live near polluting plants and have higher rates of asthma. Detroit, a mostly Black city with a poverty rate of about 30 per cent, had some of the worst air quality in the U.S. on Wednesday, prompting the Environmental Protection Agency to warn that “everyone should stay indoors.”

I guess poor White people or Chinese or Himalayans don’t merit special mention other than to be relegated to a 2nd class “othering”.

They must think Blacks need the Great White Weather Girl’s benevolent guidance.

Oh look! The EPA has an excuse to desensitize you to the prospect of a climate lockdown! Once a genie is out of the bottle….
