Canadian gov’t spent millions on private consultants to censor documents requested by the public

In the last two years alone, multiple Canadian federal governmental departments spent $39 million hiring contractors to comb through and censor documents requested by the public under the Access to Information Act.

As per Blacklock’s Reporter, information revealed from an Inquiry of Ministry requested by Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) MP Kelly McCauley last June shows the large payouts to multiple firms and individuals.

According to the Inquiry, “Each file is different based on the complexity and the volume of pages.”

Germany arrests second suspect in Russia espionage case

German authorities have arrested a man alleged to have passed intelligence information to Russia, German prosecutors said on Thursday.

The suspect, identified as Arthur E. in line with Germany’s privacy laws, was arrested on Sunday in Munich airport, as he arrived from the US.

German authorities were aided in their efforts by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“Arthur E. took the information to Russia and handed it over to the intelligence service there,” said a statement from prosecutors.

Justin Trudeau is looking past the ‘Freedom Convoy’ — but Ottawa is holding its breath

They love Junior in Hamilton!

Ottawa doesn’t need to brace this weekend for a replay of the convoy protest, says the new police chief, because “lots has changed since last year.”

For one thing, the chief has changed. Eric Stubbs, who took over late in 2022, told CBC’s Ottawa Morning on Wednesday that while he hasn’t talked to the man he replaced — former chief Peter Sloly — he is confident the city can avoid the occupation that gripped the capital one year ago and cost Sloly his job.

After Sweden, Dutch politician tears pages of Quran; burns it

After the first instance of disrespect towards the holy book of Muslims in Sweden this week, where a copy of the Quran was burned, the leader of the extremist anti-Islam group Pegida in the Netherlands, Edwin Wagensfeld, tore up pages and burn another copy of the Holy Quran in the city of Den Haag, under the protection of the Dutch police.

On Monday, the far-right politician Edwin Wagensveld shared a video clip of his provocative act, which took place in front of the parliament building in The Hague, on Twitter.

Big Brother Gets a Seat in Your Car

Federal infrastructure law empowers the feds to monitor impaired driving and shut off your car. What could go wrong?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Conservatives continually step into the trap set by progressives. The process is simple and is repeated constantly, especially in California. Liberal activists envision some far-reaching policy or regulation — such as the elimination of internal combustion engines or a ban on new gas stove installations — but they do so incrementally.

Guardian in ‘institutional racism’ storm

Oh dear. It seems that the world’s wokest newspaper is in a bit of a mess of its own making. Stung by criticism of its historic slave trade links and support for the Confederacy in 2020, the Guardian resolved to create an editorial project on its past. This included an upcoming podcast about the connections between its founder, John Edward Taylor, and transatlantic slavery. But in an unfortunate twist, three producers who were working on the series have accused the holier-than-thou media outlet of ‘institutional racism.’

Denmark plans compulsory military conscription for women

The move can help Denmark meet its requirements under its NATO membership but it would also be “beneficial” for the military if it had more women employed, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, the country’s defense minister and deputy prime minister, said in an interview with broadcaster TV2.

Currently, women can join on a voluntary basis while men generally are required to serve if they are called on under a lottery system, for a duration of four months for most. The new measure has the backing of several women’s organizations and comes as Denmark, like the rest of Europe, provides increasing levels of support to Ukraine in the war to oust Russia from the country.

I’m sure this will go over well among the woke.

‘I Survived a School Shooting, Then I Became Pro-Gun’

I moved to Santa Clarita, California from Phoenix, Arizona, when I was 12 years old. Instantly, I loved it. In my opinion, the suburbs of Los Angeles County are much nicer than the city itself—it felt like the type of safe community you would see on a television show. At such a young age I didn’t really have any political views. I knew my dad owned guns, but I never thought much of it.

Why Net Zero is nonsense: a briefing document for opponents

I’M increasingly alarmed at how all the UK’s major political parties are committed to the Net Zero policy. If implemented, it will have appalling consequences for the economy and for most people, few of whom understand the quite simple issues involved. I have therefore put together a ‘briefing document’ which marshals three arguments that I hope may contribute to curtailing the policy before it’s too late.

Tucker Carlson eviscerates Department of Justice coverup of Jeffrey Epstein’s death

It’s been long enough since the highly suspicious death of Jeffrey Epstein in the federal lockup in Manhattan that the very popular meme “Jeffrey Epstein didn’t kill himself” is no longer as pervasive as it once was. But in the interim, the coverup has continued and deepened. Kudos to Tucker Carlson for using the opening segment of his show last night, the highest-rated cable news program, to go over the insulting propositions that federal officials, notably including former AG William Barr, have tried to get the public to accept. Tucker dryly noted that Barr did not accept an invitation to appear on the show to respond.

The Caesars of the Information Age

Donald Trump has been unbanned, but Silicon Valley censorship is still a menace to humanity.

I thought I would feel some relief when the social-media giants came to their senses and let Donald Trump back on their platforms. Yet now that it’s happened, now that Meta has decreed that Trump has served his time in the virtual wilderness and may once again post on Facebook and Instagram, I just feel unnerved. Unnerved by the extraordinary power these people wield over who may and who may not engage with the billions of souls who gather online. Unnerved by their supranational authority to grant or rescind a licence to speak in the global town square. Unnerved by the historically unprecedented dominion this small clique of the woke rich enjoys over the liberty to utter.
