Ottawa police must confront bias, right-wing extremism to rebuild trust: ex-chief

Ottawa’s former police chief says the force needs to confront bias and right-wing extremism in order to repair trust with its citizens in the aftermath of the “Freedom Convoy” protest.

Peter Sloly is continuing his testimony at the public inquiry investigating the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act.

A lawyer representing downtown businesses and community members asked Sloly this afternoon if he was aware of a double standard being applied to left-wing protests like Black Lives Matter in comparison to the treatment of convoy protesters who occupied the city for weeks.

Sloly but surely he’s blaming everyone but himself.

Texts show feds planning communications strategy before ‘Freedom Convoy’ arrival

Newly released text messages show how the federal government was planning its communications strategy before the arrival of “Freedom Convoy” protesters in Ottawa back in late January.

Messages between a senior member of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s staff and Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino’s press secretary on Jan. 24 have been released by the inquiry investigating the government’s use of the Emergencies Act.

Canadian veteran James Topp facing more charges for calling out COVID vaccine mandates

James Topp, a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who walked across Canada in protest of COVID jab decrees, is now facing four new charges by the military for speaking out against injection mandates.

According to the Canadian Press, Topp is facing a total of six counts of conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline.

Two of Topp’s new charges relate to video statements he gave which were posted on social media in February blasting the military’s COVID jab mandate. The charges come under Canada’s National Defence Act.

Editor-in-Chief of Renowned Science Journal Ousted for Publishing Science Questioning COVID-19 Vaccine Safety

Dr. José Luis Domingo, who has served as editor-in-chief of a prestigious scientific journal, Food and Chemical Toxicology (FCT), for the past seven years, said that he has essentially been forced to resign.

His resignation, he alleged, has come about because of gaping problems with scientific integrity and industry influence when it comes to scientific discussions about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Finland Says Ukraine Arms Ending Up In Hands Of Criminal Gangs

Critics of the massive US weapons pipeline to Ukraine have long pointed out there’s no accountability or appropriate tracking once those arms enter the country, presenting ripe opportunities for criminals, terrorists, or lucrative black market arms sellers to take advantage.

So it was perhaps only a matter of time before headlines like this began showing up in international publications – “NBI: Arms sent to Ukraine in criminal hands.” The NBI is Finland’s federal National Bureau of Investigation, and the report is from Finland’s national public broadcasting company Yle, and provides confirmation that arms intended for Ukrainian forces are going outside the country.

UK Police chief: Petty disputes being recorded as crime in ‘completely mad way’

Petty disputes are being recorded as crime in a “completely mad way” that is scaring the public, a police chief has said.

Sir David Thompson, chief constable of the West Midlands, told The Times that verbal spats between neighbours were being registered as criminal incidents in official data submitted to the government.

Police-recorded crime in England and Wales hit a new high last week with a total of 6.5 million offences in the 12 months to June 2022, up from the previous all-time high of 6.3 million in the year to March.

Everyone Is Laughing at the Ridiculous Pelosi Big Lie

How dare you reject the Official Approved Narrative™ parroted by the regime media about the weird Schiff that went down at Casa de Pelosi the other night. There’s only one possible explanation, according to experts, licensed journalists, and our betters – an underwear-clad MAGA assassin from a hippie commune in Berkeley who is best known for his nudist activism broke into the oddly unguarded mansion of the Speaker of the House, a wealthy woman who has her police force and has not been shy about expounding on the perilous peril she faces from murderous insurrectionists, carrying a hammer and encountered the wide-awake Paul Pelosi, also in his skivvies, who the intruder then let go off and call the cops wherein Mr. Pelosi referred to the guy as his friend.

I think he hired the wrong guy.

Continental Breakfast (Open Thread)

Is this the worst political ad ever? I’m not Jewish, but shande-wise this is embarrassing to me as a human. (I’m picturing Nancy Pelosi’s version. “Putani, eh? Dassa Italiano for Republicans. Pazzo! Imma talking anyone who vota for these stronzi…” Then Biden can get in on it with his fake Irish act, although that would take a while to record. Ilhan Omar, we could learn Somali…)

It’s sinister and anti-human to stop growth

Shrinking the global economy to consume fewer resources is the green lobby’s latest bad idea

Last month’s prime minister, Liz Truss, came to grief because her fanatical belief in economic growth crashed the economy into a wall. While condemning her recklessness, many nevertheless sympathised with the goal of growing the economy to produce increased prosperity and progress. After all, who wouldn’t agree with that?

It turns out that plenty of people wouldn’t, including the World Economic Forum.

Greta Thunberg throws in her lot with the anti-capitalist Left

The activist has been showing a more overtly political stance in London

Last night, London’s Royal Festival Hall hosted a children’s crusade. The purpose? To “celebrate” the launch of The Climate Book, Greta Thunberg’s coffee-table manifesto which collects essays from climate scholars, interspersed with photography and doom data (the cover itself is a colour chart of global temperature, moving from halcyon blue to DEFCON red). London answered the call.

Whom does perpetual immigration serve?

When we consider the lie that America is a nation of immigrants, the really important question to ask is: how does this lie serve the regime? What’s the instrumental purpose of this lie? And I think, that, if we inquire a bit, it’s political purpose is clear. If we’re a nation of immigrants, fundamentally, then we are wrong not to just throw open the door. We’d be violating our most sacred and eternal traditions not to do that. If you don’t want to do that, you’re not just a bigot, you’re not just a racist, but you’re fundamentally anti-American in some way. That is the narrative that this lie serves.

By contrast, David Azerrad said in a recent speech: “There is simply no precedent in human history for sovereign states voluntarily importing into their homelands untold millions of people of different colors, creeds, and cultures for decades on end. This is what tyrants do to conquer a broken people, to pacify them. It is not something that the natives willfully do to themselves.” And I think that that is pretty much right on the money.

Liz Truss’s phone hack and the crisis of leadership

We live in serious times – yet our leaders are woefully inept.

During this summer’s Tory leadership contest, when the UK’s then foreign secretary, Liz Truss, was battling to become prime minister, the security services discovered that her personal mobile phone had been hacked. A year’s worth of messages – including sensitive discussions with foreign colleagues about the war in Ukraine as well as private conversations with her political allies – are believed to have been compromised. Then prime minister Boris Johnson and cabinet secretary Simon Case managed to suppress the news of the hack, until it was revealed in yesterday’s Mail on Sunday.

A year’s worth of messages between allies compromised? It makes me wonder if the speculation the US and Britain teamed up to destroy the Nordstream pipelines is true and has been exposed by the Truss hack.
