Canadian officials have met with Taliban more than a dozen times to discuss women’s rights: documents

Ottawa has been pressing the Taliban for months on women’s rights, fighting terrorism

Canadian government officials have met with representatives of the Taliban on at least 13 occasions in Qatar since it swept to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, documents obtained by CBC News reveal.

The documents, obtained through access to information law, show David Sproule, Canada’s senior official for Afghanistan, has been — along with various Global Affairs Canada (GAC) officials and representatives of allied countries — pressing the Taliban for commitments on extending the right to an education to women, fighting terrorism and granting safe passage to Afghans who want to leave the country.

U.K. company denies cutting Canadian forests to fuel ‘sustainable’ power plant

Wood from primary forests in British Columbia has been used to fuel the U.K.’s largest power plant, according to a BBC investigation. The company that runs it, which denies the allegations, has received over $9 billion in green energy subsidies from the British government.

Those allegations are troubling for Mike Morris, the provincial representative for Prince George-Mackenzie in central B.C., near where the company operates.

‘Do not fight’: Toronto police announce carjacking arrests, warn residents of ‘troubling’ rise

Toronto police have made a series of arrests in connection with the “troubling” rise in carjackings, Insp. Richard Harris of the hold-up squad said Tuesday.

The arrests of several teenagers — including an 18-year-old woman — come as Toronto has 182 reported carjackings so far this year compared to 102 in all of 2021. Fifty-six of the vehicles stolen this year have been recovered.

Time to start shutting down basketball courts.

Liberals face credibility questions over whether announced Iran sanctions will actually happen

I hate this asshole.

OTTAWA — The Liberal government’s announcement of new sanctions against the Iranian regime Monday, in response to protests there over government oppression, was met with skepticism by observers concerned about Ottawa’s lack of transparency and “follow-through” with past sanctions.

I’m coming out as a ‘far right’ extremist

ONLY a few decades ago, the far right were defined by hating Jews and non-whites and opposing all immigration while trying to convince people that Hitler was a victim of demonisation. In Western countries, people who espouse such views haven’t come anywhere close to power since the end of World War Two. And no, Italy’s newly elected leader Giorgia Meloni isn’t one of them.

However, over the past decade or so, the predominantly left-leaning media and their woke activist allies are constantly warning us of the ever increasing threat from the ‘far right’.

America’s Dependence on China Is a Crisis in the Making

America’s supply chain crisis is far from over. Persistent backlogs at West Coast ports have led shippers to reroute their cargoes to the east. As a result, container ships now sit offshore at ports such as New York, Houston, and Savannah, waiting in queue to offload.

What first triggered the unfamiliar phenomenon of our barren shop shelves was COVID-19 and a series of ill-advised policies implemented to “stop the spread.” Suddenly, there were too few dockworkers, too few warehouse workers, and too few truckers, creating what Lori Fellmer, chair of the ocean committee for the National Industrial Transportation League, called “a horror show.”

From Superpower to Paper Tiger: Part Two

This is a recipe for losing the next big war.

Last week, I illuminated how President Joe Biden is forcing “wokeness” on our military and explained its inevitable effect, which is to lower both the lethality and readiness of our forces.

This is worse than the social experimentation of the Clinton and Obama days. Biden’s policies are changing the culture of the military, perhaps irreparably.

The other half of the equation is how we are — and aren’t — planning our military budgets to meet the threats we face from China, Russia, Iran, and other adversary nations.

I wanted to leave California before it was cool

When I was about eleven years old my favorite Barbie was Midge from the California Dream collection. Barbie’s BFF, she had auburn hair and freckles. Midge came with roller skates and a blue visor and I loved her. My sister had California Dream Barbie and we would pop in the Beach Boys Greatest Hits cassette tape and pretend we were living in California for hours upon hours, day after day. We wore that cassette tape out, screaming the lyrics to “California Dreamin’” on cold winter days in Connecticut. I imagined Midge was me, cruising down the boardwalk with the wind in my hair and the sun on my cheeks. My dreams of being a California girl began in those afternoons lost in fantasyland.

A New Tall Tale for the Winter: ‘Europe Is a Victim of the Americans’

A common line of argument between Russian state propaganda and American conspiracy circles is proliferating these days, namely: the war in Ukraine was allegedly fomented by the Americans to destroy Europe.

For example, the American conspiracy website Revolver News easily refers to the geostrategic considerations of a leading expert on the war in Ukraine, Andrew Korybko. Incidentally, Korybko is also a ‘Moscow-based analyst’ financed by Russia’s autocratic government: a mere detail.

In this thesis, which charges Europe with being the victim of an American plot, everything is false. It is a childish and disempowering falsehood — which makes it attractive to unquestioning minds.

Imagine What a Group That Bans White People Could Do if It Had Real Political Power

Did you see the news out of Chicago? A group at the prestigious University of Chicago decided to have a discussion on race – because we need another one of those so much – but they cut one race out of the discussion. Guess which one?

If you guessed white people, you guessed correctly.
