A prominent war journalist said she was threatened with jail if she did not tweet an apology to the Taliban over an article that accused Afghanistan’s Islamist rulers of forcing teenage girls into marriage and sex slavery.

“l apologize for 3 or 4 reports written by me accusing the present authorities of forcefully marrying teenage girls and using teenage girls as sexual slaves by Taliban commanders,” tweeted Lynne O’Donnell, an Australian journalist who is currently a columnist for Foreign Policy magazine.

AOC and Ilhan Omar coordinated Supreme Court arrest stunt with Soros-funded dark money group

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and the 15 other Democratic lawmakers who were arrested Tuesday outside the Supreme Court coordinated the stunt with a progressive dark money group funded by billionaire George Soros.

Getting arrested was the whole point of the stunt, Ocasio-Cortez said in an Instagram post on Tuesday. She said organizers of the Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund asked her and her colleagues to “submit themselves for arrest in front of the Supreme Court.”

The New York lawmaker insisted in the post what she and her colleagues did was “very different than a ‘publicity stunt.'”

WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) – The Biden administration is investigating Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei over concerns that U.S. cell towers fitted with its gear could capture sensitive information from military bases and missile silos that the company could then transmit to China, two people familiar with the matter said.

Authorities are concerned Huawei (HWT.UL) could obtain sensitive data on military drills and the readiness status of bases and personnel via the equipment, one of the people said, requesting anonymity because the investigation is confidential and involves national security.

A couple of weeks ago, Patrick Brown was running to be prime minister of Canada. Now he has signed papers to run for re-election as mayor of Brampton, Ont. This is either a considerable downscaling of his ambitions or a return to a more moderate assessment of his capacity.

There is really nothing to fear in Poilievre, I find myself in agreement with Christy Clark – he will move or be managed to the mushy middle. Frankly he isn’t offering much different to begin with so I don’t know what all the fuss is about. A little red meat from time to time but nothing substantive like a reversal of our disastrous immigration policy.

“If Mr. Poilievre wins, he’s going to have a choice to make about how he wants to speak to Canadians about the things we share in common,” she said in a Wednesday interview with The Globe and Mail.

When I survey the current roster of those who have been empowered to govern Canada, it is hard to avoid the onset of severe depression. None are serious people, none even remotely competent, all are driven by the ideological drivel of the day, and they are to a man and woman decoupled from the ordinary folk who make — or made — this country run.

Moreover, beginning with the prime minister and descending to the least member of cabinet, these are people who seem to have no idea what real work and economic survival consist of. Passing legislation on climate change, health policies, agriculture, energy, and supply-and-manufacturing sectors that almost inevitably tend to harm the prospects of the actual people affected while the legislators themselves are protected from the ravages of their virtue comprises the trademark of the parasitic class, which disqualifies the present bunch from serving in their official capacity. (It is only fair to mention parenthetically an astronaut and a hockey goaltender, but neither now serves in cabinet, and neither was especially distinguished.)

Canadian military looking at blocking real-time tracking of flights, including PM’s plane

The military says it’s exploring ways to add a layer of secrecy to the movement of some Canadian Armed Forces flights, including the planes that carry the Prime Minister and the Governor-General.

The Royal Canadian Air Force says no decision has been made on how to proceed, but it’s investigating how it might prevent the real-time tracking of military aircraft. One option would be taking steps to ensure that flight-tracking websites, which sell their services for a fee, are unable to display the movement of some Canadian military planes.
