Pope Francis wades in to Roe vs Wade abortion ruling as he compares termination to ‘hiring a hitman to solve a problem’

Pope Francis has strongly condemned abortion and compared terminating a baby to ‘hiring a hitman to solve a problem’ after the landmark court ruling Roe v. Wade was overturned by Supreme Court justices.

Speaking from his Vatican residence, the 85-year-old pontiff said he respected the Supreme Court’s decision to unravel nearly 50 years’ worth of precedent by overturning the 1973 landmark decision that granted federal abortion protections under the Constitution.

Francis said he said strongly condemned abortion, comparing it to ‘hiring a hit man’. The Catholic Church teaches that life begins at the moment of conception.

Compared to other countries this century, such as the U.K. and the United States, the modern wave of right-wing populism is late in coming to Canada. It is now, however, firmly entrenched in the People’s Party of Canada, the Alberta-based Maverick Party, the Conservative Party of Quebec, and increasingly in the CPC. As in other nations, it is the product both of circumstance, including economic, industrial, and social dislocation, and leadership, both that of left-leaning politicians like Justin Trudeau, who stoked the woke, and of right-of-centre politicians, who seized the opportunity.

P.E.I. church criticized for post about webinar designed to ‘protect’ children during Pride Month

A member of a Summerside, P.E.I., church is speaking out against a social media post he calls “homophobic,” and looking for a new faith community.

In the post, the Summerside Community Church directed its followers to a June 17 webinar offering “practical advice for parents and grandparents to protect children from what’s happening during Pride Month.”

The event included B.C. pastor Kevin Cavanaugh interviewing Wilna Van Beek, author of When Gay Comes Home, who details her journey working against her same-sex attractions by embracing Jesus instead.

Given the often louche behavior at pride events & parades advice to parents is entirely appropriate. Turning this into a grievance is just wrong headed.

Brothers in botched B.C. bank robbery had become angry and radical, obsessed with guns and ‘government tyranny’

A portrait has begun to emerge of Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie, 22-year-old brothers from central Vancouver Island who were named Saturday as suspects in a botched robbery last week at a Bank of Montreal branch in Saanich, B.C.

As children, according to their closest friends, they were shy, a little nerdy and liked fantasy novels and Star Wars figurines. One was rarely found without the other. Following graduation, they seemed to drop off the face of the Earth, ghosting their former friends. According to one of the brother’s online footprints, he was becoming increasingly angry and radical, obsessed with guns, explosives and perceptions of government tyranny.

One man’s perceptions are another man’s policy.

‘City gonna burn’: Akron police fire tear gas to quell rioters after black man, 27, was shot 60 times and killed by cops … after shooting at police

Police in Akron, Ohio, unleashed a wave of tear gas on protesters who gathered outside of the city’s main courthouse on Sunday night.

Several hundred protesters marched in the city in the hours after the Akron Police Department released the bodycam footage showing the shooting death of 25-year-old Jayland Walker.

Walker was killed after being shot at least 60 times by Akron cops following a traffic stop on June 27.

Motive likely not terror-related in ‘brutal’ Danish shooting

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A gunman who killed three people when he opened fire in a crowded shopping mall acted alone and apparently selected his victims at random, Danish police said Monday, all but ruling out that the attack was an “act of terrorism.”

Police have not identified a motive for Sunday’s attack inside one of Scandinavia’s biggest shopping centers. A suspect carrying a rifle and knife was quickly arrested, and Copenhagen chief police inspector Søren Thomassen said the 22-year-old Danish man also had access to another gun.

He said the firearms were obtained illegally and that the suspect was known to mental health services but gave no further details on either.

“We have seen a heightened threat environment … over the last several months over a number of different volatile issues that galvanize people on different sides of each issue,” Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told CBS News on Sunday. “We in the Department of Homeland Security become involved when there’s a connectivity between the- the opposition to a particular view or an ideology of hate, a false narrative, and violence.”

The Canadian government’s massive annual donations of foreign aid to Third World countries is one of the most overlooked issues in our country.

From the point of view of a debt and inflation-ridden society, the situation is absurd. While Canada has been bogged down by an economically damaging pandemic, billions of dollars have flowed from government coffers to so-called “developing nations.”
