The American Medical Association (AMA) and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) have jointly published a language guide that tells readers to no longer use the words “handicapped,” “morbidly obese,” or “homeless.”
Rather, the document, “Advancing Health Equity: A Guide to Language, Narrative and Concepts,” stipulates that these terms should be referred to as “people who are experiencing (condition or disability type).”

I’m Facebook friends with a woman who has been in Democratic Party politics since we attended high school together. Since then, she’s worked for power politicians, (unsuccessfully) run for office, and played a central role in the public takedown of an elected official. She has a degree from an Ivy League institution, as does her husband, who works in finance. Hers is the quintessential lifestyle of the urban elites.

That beast’s apocalyptic hour has come around again, its rebirth announced by the galloping horsemen of war and pestilence, with what looks to be famine trailing in the dusty distance. It calls itself Legion, but is today better known as Ideology.
The Russian navy appears to have accidentally blown up one of its own ships in the black sea in the latest blunder for Putin’s forces.
A landing craft is reported to have exploded when it hit a Russian sea mine near Mariupol.
The crew is said to have survived the friendly-fire incident, but the reputation of Russia’s naval commanders is not so unscathed.

For Ukraine to win, the West still has to answer painful questions of itself
One minute the pundits believe Ukraine will win, the next we are warned that Russia is winning. But what does “victory” mean — and is the West really prepared to pay its price?
There is a tragic irony here. In their own ways, Russia, Ukraine and the West are all committed to a struggle without knowing for sure how the endgame should or will look. For Moscow and Kyiv, this is essentially because they are still waiting on the verdict of the battlefield — but for the West, it is because we are not yet willing to discuss the most difficult questions.
A lot of this sort of reflection going around these days.
I’m not sure if they are hoping to sleepwalk us into a wider conflict or test the waters for an abandonment of Ukraine.
Maybe both.

Allegations of political interference in the investigation of the mass shooting in Nova Scotia highlight continuing problems with politicization of the RCMP, say former Mounties.
