A Blight on the Presidency and the Nation

The Biden administration’s executive order encouraging “affirming care” and gender transition is final confirmation that support for procedures deforming and sterilizing children goes to the top of the American power structure.

Yesterday, President Biden signed an executive order instructing his administration to examine what steps it could take to end “conversion therapy” for minors who identify as transgender.

The Elite Press Remains The Handmaid Of War

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, pro-interventionist accounts have dominated the airwaves and op-ed pages.

Far too often, the elite U.S. press has been a reliable mouthpiece for Washington’s dubious foreign policies. That was true during the Cold War, except for a brief period of disillusionment and dissent once the Vietnam War became such an obvious debacle. That period of more vigorous scrutiny and skepticism did not last long, however. When George H. W. Bush launched his drive for U.S. military intervention in the Persian Gulf to expel Iraqi forces from Kuwait, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other elite outlets were fully on board with that agenda, as their shamelessly biased treatment of the relevant issues confirmed. That pro-interventionist bias became even more flagrant during the Balkan crises of the 1990s, the lead-up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, and Washington’s subsequent campaigns for forcible regime change in Libya and Syria. There was very little daylight between the official U.S. government positions on those issues and the dominant media narratives.

Hologram Zelensky promises Ukraine will defeat ‘the empire’

Volodymyr Zelenskiy referenced Star Wars and the second world war as the Ukrainian president appeared as a hologram at a conference in Paris to seek aid from big tech firms.

He told a crowd of hundreds at the VivaTech trade show that he was offering technology firms a unique chance to rebuild Ukraine as a fully digital democracy.

He asked for help on the terms of lend-lease – the way in which the United States helped the Allies during the second world war, offering aid without payment but on the understanding that hardware would be returned.

Pfizer Stops Covid Pill Trial After Latest Results Showed It DID NOT Reduce Symptoms, Hospitalizations, or Deaths

According to a statement by the company, Pfizer has stopped COVID pill trial after the latest results showed that it did not reduce symptoms, hospitalizations and deaths.

Pfizer has stated it will halt participation in a clinical trial for Paxlovid, its COVID-19 antiviral medication, for standard-risk COVID-19 patients after the most recent findings revealed the medication did not numerically greatly lower symptoms, hospitalizations, or fatalities.

In more than 65 nations, including the United States, Paxlovid, a combination of the antivirals nirmatrelvir and ritonavir, is presently approved or authorized for conditional or emergency use in the treatment of COVID-19 patients at high risk of developing severe illness, including hospitalization or death.

At least they’re consistent. I wonder what the side effects are?

John Ivison: Freeland’s magical spending won’t make inflation disappear

American writer Carl Sandburg once said politicians should have three hats: one for throwing into the ring, one for talking through and another to pull rabbits from.

Chrystia Freeland, having already made clear her ambition to succeed Justin Trudeau as prime minister, made good use of her other two hats in a speech on inflation to a Bay Street audience on Thursday.

So he’s for shadow bans?
