Ontario reports 2,244 new Covid cases … and The Rise Of Omicron 2.0

Ontario reports 14 more COVID-19 deaths; under 1,200 hospitalizations

Ontario reported under 1,200 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and 14 net new deaths on Saturday, as hospitalizations continue to steadily decline.

There are currently 1,191 people battling the virus in Ontario hospitals, down from 1,704 a week ago, according to the Ministry of Health.

More contagious BA.2 sub-variant spreading in Canada, complicating opening plans

The highly contagious Omicron sub-variant known as BA.2 is gaining a foothold in Canada just as provinces begin removing pandemic restrictions, according to newly released data.

The spread of BA.2, which is believed to be 1.4 times as contagious as the already highly transmissible BA.1 Omicron sub-variant, could complicate reopening plans now underway, or announced, in most provinces.

As he wandered the red zone of the protest site in Ottawa, David Freiheit appeared bashful about the reception he received, but also energized by it.

People wanted pictures with him, embraced him with whispers of support in his ear, and treated him like a celebrity. He was livestreaming for hours at a time, his quick legal mind providing commentary in between interviews with the people drawn to the protest, and to him.

I do not have a Rumble account. Given Justin’s pending internet control grab I assumed Rumble would be a ready target as it is Canadian and consequently all your data will be if it isn’t already in Justin’s pocket. I don’t think I was wrong as this hit piece attests. My Youtube channel was demonitized before demonitization was cool. Hell I was suspended for copyright violation for posting my own video. We’re watched we know it.

Group involved in Ottawa protest asks court to halt federal use of Emergencies Act

OTTAWA — A group involved in the anti-government protest against COVID-19 measures in Ottawa is asking a court to put the brakes on federal use of the Emergencies Act to clamp down on demonstrators.

In submissions Friday to the Federal Court, Canadian Frontline Nurses and member Kristen Nagle seek an injunction staying the Liberal government’s use of the emergencies law and associated measures while their full case plays out in court.

Multiple USA governors demand Trudeau drop mandates for cross-border truckers

A group of Canadian premiers and U.S. governors has urged U.S. President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to abandon a vaccine mandate for truckers traveling across borders. On Wednesday, a coalition of 16 governors and two premiers sent a letter to Canadian and U.S. governments requesting that truckers crossing between the two countries be granted vaccine and quarantine exemptions. The mandate, according to the letter, is putting additional strain on already stressed supply chains.

Turns out the lasting image of the Freedom Convoy protest at Parliament Hill will not be bouncy castles but that of a woman with a walker being trampled by a police horse.

The violence the Prime Minister has expressed concern about during the three-week protest in Ottawa didn’t unfold until Justin Trudeau’s Emergencies Act police army was sent in to disperse the crowd.

The three major incidents Friday, under a form of martial law, were grotesque.

Indian court sentences 38 Muslim terrorists to death over 2008 bombings

A court in India has sentenced to death a record 38 people for a deadly terror attack in the Indian city of Ahmedabad in 2008, in which up to 20 bombs were set off across the city in hospitals, shopping centres and parks, leaving 56 dead.

It was the first time so many accused have received death sentences in a single case in the country. The sentence must be confirmed by a higher court. Judge AR Patel also sentenced 11 people to life imprisonment in the case.

… A previously unknown Islamist terror organisation, the Indian Mujahideen, claimed responsibility for the attack but Gujarat police said a nationwide network of radical Islamist groups were involved in the blasts. The Indian Mujahadeen is believed to be a faction of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi), a group of young extremists who had declared jihad against India. Among those given death sentences on Friday was Safdar Nagori, the former Simi leader.
