Rapidly-eroding support among Democrats driving Biden approval ratings to new lows: Poll

President Biden‘s handling of the pandemic and the economy is costing him support even among his base, according to a survey released Tuesday by Pew Research Center.

The president’s job approval rating of 41% is down 3% overall since September, but support among Democrats and Democratic Party-leaning voters is falling even faster: Mr. Biden is down 7% among that group over the same period.

The report found that 68% of Democrats still give the president high marks, but that is down from 75% in September and 88% in July.

The Worst Ally

Germany, the laggard of NATO with a deep conflict of interest regarding Russia, is the weak link.

President Joe Biden’s press conference last week was atrocious, but one of his worst missteps amounted to telling the truth about Germany, if not by name.

Biden said there’d be divisions within NATO over a “minor incursion” by Russia into Ukraine. This is true enough, and the chief cause would be a Germany that is staking a strong claim to being our worst European ally.

Afghan evacuee convicted of sexual contact with toddler at military base

An Afghan evacuee was convicted of having sexual contact with a toddler while they resided on a U.S. military base that was providing temporary housing for those who departed Afghanistan at the end of the war.

Mohammad Tariq, 24, was convicted on charges of abusive sexual contact with a 3-year-old girl on Monday, and he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. He will be sentenced on April 26.

A British Columbia First Nation has announced the grim discovery of 93 potential burial sites on the grounds of a former residential school.

According to the Williams Lake First Nation, a recent geophysical survey, which included ground-penetrating radar, revealed the existence of the potential graves.

Far-right groups hope trucker protest will be Canada’s ‘January 6th’

Canadian far-right and white nationalist groups see the so-called “Freedom Convoy” as an opportunity, with some hoping the protests will be Canada’s version of last year’s Jan. 6 riot in Washington.

Hundreds of truckers and their supporters are making their way from B.C. to Ottawa for a planned protest outside Parliament on Saturday.

Update- Organizer of anti-vaccine mandate convoy says it won’t tolerate extremists or violence

A key player behind a convoy travelling to Ottawa to protest a vaccine mandate for truckers is warning that those planning to use the event for acts of violence or vandalism won’t be tolerated.

Addressing her Facebook followers in a video posted on the Freedom Convoy 2022 Facebook page, Tamara Lich said the convoy is expected to arrive at Parliament Hill in Ottawa over the weekend to protest what she calls infringements of personal liberty caused by public health orders.

“If you see participants along the way that are misbehaving, acting aggressively in any way or inciting any type of violence or hatred, please take down the truck number and their licence plate number so that we can forward that to the police,” she said.

Federal government won’t budge on vaccine mandate for truckers as convoy heads for Ottawa

In an interview with CBC’s Power & Politics, Alghabra said the government is not interested in alternatives like rapid testing for unvaccinated truckers. He said truckers and the wider industry have had months to prepare for the new regulations and drivers must now get the shot or stop driving over the border.

Should the CBC run ads? It depends on a number of facts, most of which are not firmly established.

Is topping-up the CBC’s budget so as to free it from the necessity of selling $250 million of ads per year really the best use of public money? It’s hard to believe it is. Making CBC ad-free, as cultural nationalists have long demanded, seems a marginal sort of expenditure whose only saving grace is that many of the other things this government would do with the money are even lesser-value spending. Could we not buy the front end of an ice-breaker instead? Or a few guns for our soldiers? Or cut tax rates by a decimal point or two? Of course, in our system the government gets to decide and if no other party opposes it, and none seems ready to, ad-free will probably go through.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear two cases challenging racial preferences in university admissions. It’s an important move that could pave the way toward restoring the equality principles that our Constitution and laws afford. The Court granted petitions for writs of certiorari in lawsuits brought by the nonprofit Students for Fair Admissions against Harvard University and the University of North Carolina and consolidated the cases into one.

Iran’s Palestinian Proxy: Jihad against Israel and America

The Iran-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), the second largest and hugely influential group in the Gaza Strip after Hamas, does not believe that the conflict with Israel is over Jerusalem, settlements, borders, checkpoints or Palestinian prisoners.

Like Hamas, PIJ’s “logical intellectual vision considers all of Palestine still occupied from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea.” For PIJ, the only way for solving the conflict is by eliminating Israel and killing as many Jews as possible. PIJ sees Israel as one big settlement and a foreign implant that needs to be dismantled as soon as possible.
