Prince Harry is here to help

The Duke of Sussex has got a job flogging expensive pseudo-therapy to corporate droids the world over

Nothing duller for those of us not in therapy than listening to people who are in therapy talking about it, something they seem to like to do incessantly, at every opportunity. For this reason, my heart sank during the Oprah interview — which I’d been looking forward to tremendously — when early into his appearance, Prince Harry made an unsmiling reference to the ‘many years’ he had spent ‘doing the work — and doing my own learning’. Here we go, I thought.

Arkansas Governor signs bill banning biological males from girls’ sports amid criticism of it being ‘cruel’ & ‘illegal’

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signed into law a bill that bans biological males from competing in female school sports programs, marking the third Republican-controlled state to enact such legislation.

“This law simply says that female athletes should not have to compete in a sport against a student of the male sex when the sport is designed for women’s competition,” Hutchinson said in a statement after signing the bill on Thursday. “As I have stated previously, I agree with the intention of this law. This will help promote and maintain fairness in women’s sporting events.”

The Courts and the Election of 2020

The Courts and the Election of 2020

While the mainstream news media continues to shout down anyone raising even the slightest penumbral emanations of possible 2020 election irregularities, and social media giants suspend, and even erase, people for similar “violations of community standards” (whatever that means) — a Supreme Court justice and a Michigan Secretary of State have issued written opinions that refute what every sensible MSNBC viewer desperately wants to believe is true.

Rights groups say Xinjiang’s Uighur minority (also spelled as “Uyghur”) are being persecuted and conscripted for forced labour.

Evidence shown to the BBC suggests that upwards of half a million Uighur minority workers a year are being marshalled into seasonal cotton picking under conditions that appear to raise a high risk of coercion.

Terence Corcoran: Carbon-tax green light flashing red

Terence Corcoran: Carbon-tax green light flashing red

It is better not to get too deeply immersed in the constitutional labyrinth embedded in the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision to legally green light the Trudeau government’s carbon tax plan. Beyond the 200-plus pages of convoluted and contradictory legal verbiage lie the real issues, which are economic, environmental and political, not legal. And those issues are festooned with flashing red warning lights: Danger ahead.

Canada’s COVID case count set to hit 1 million next week as variants spread

After two months of relative stability, Canada’s COVID-19 case count is expected to rise rapidly in the coming weeks as virus variants take hold.

Canada is projected to hit roughly 1 million total cases next week, according to data released today by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

While the vaccination campaign has ramped up after a period of scarcity, the rollout can’t keep pace with the spread of the virus, said Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer. Tam today urged Canadians to reduce their contacts in the medium-term while provinces and territories deploy more shots in the months to come.

…Senior government officials who spoke to Radio-Canada/CBC said they often perceived Bercovici as more of a spokesperson for the Israeli government than the ambassador for Canada.

In her lawsuit, Bercovici described the allegations of disloyalty as “vicious and unmeritorious attacks on her integrity and loyalty.”

Senior government officials say Bercovici often met with Israeli government representatives without her Canadian embassy advisers present.
