GUNTER: Mark Carney on hot seat now that Parliament is in session

Canadians are about to see what Prime Minister Mark Carney is really made of now that Parliament is back.

Many voters may not have warm, fuzzy feelings about Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre or think he would make a better prime minister than the Liberal leader. But Poilievre is a masterful performer in the House of Commons — well prepared, quick with a quip, skilled at thinking on his feet.

Ottawa admits nearly half a billion blown on dental plan overhead

Taxpayers have been billed almost $500 million just to run the Trudeau government’s Canada Dental Care Plan, with most of the money going to administration instead of patients.

Cabinet admitted in a Commons filing that as of March 31, 2025, the program’s overhead costs totaled $472.9 million, including payments to third-party administrators.

Can We Finally Admit The T In LGBT Stands For Terrorism?

The assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the “transgender” movement is, in fact, a serious domestic terror threat to Christian conservatives in this country.

The revelation that the suspect in Kirk’s assassination was romantically involved with a man who identifies as a woman came as both a shock and as an all-too-common addendum to yet another tragedy.

What the tech giants aren’t telling us

Superintelligent AI could still kill us

Outside the AI company Anthropic’s offices in San Francisco, a guy is on a hunger strike. He’s been there two weeks. Another was doing something similar outside Google DeepMind in London, but never quite hit his straps: he started tweeting about it on the first day, which seems a grandiose way of saying “I skipped breakfast”, and then gave up after doctors told him it was dangerous — a surprise to those of us who rather thought that was the point.

Jokes aside, the intention is to stop the tech companies from building superintelligent AI, which they say “threatens to destroy life on Earth”. But here’s the thing: if these protesters believe that superintelligent AI has a high chance of killing everyone, then they’re not overreacting. If anything, they’re underreacting. Since I, too, think that there is a non-trivial chance of AI killing everyone, I should really be applauding them, not sneering.

Ontario Panel Questions MAID Eligibility as Report Says Some Recipients Refused Health Care

Members of Ontario’s government-appointed medical assistance in dying (MAID) review panel are raising concerns about doctors’ eligibility determinations under the expanded rules, noting that in some cases, patients qualified for assisted death after refusing available health care.

The review of three recent MAID cases has prompted “significant” discussion among members of Ontario’s MAID Death Review Committee, as some of the patients involved had conditions that could have improved if they had accepted care, according to the committee’s latest report, titled “Evaluating Incurability, Advanced State of Irreversible Decline in Capability, and Reasonably Foreseeable Natural Death.”

I left the Tommy Robinson rally with the worrying realisation: this movement is only going to get bigger

Determined to get a good spot on Whitehall, the woman from Liverpool had woken her nieces at 3am to travel to London. Her dedication paid off. By the time the march reached her on Saturday afternoon, she was sitting on a wall outside Downing Street, the little girls in camping chairs at her feet, engrossed in their iPads.

She had unfurled two banners. One said “Keir Starmer is a wanker” and the other read: “We’re not far right, we are England’s mothers and we will not stay silent. Stop the rape of our children, mothers across Britain are taking a stand.”

I asked her why she was there and she looked incredulous. Wasn’t it obvious? “Because Keir Starmer’s a wanker.” Why? “He’s taking our speech away.” Even though you’re allowed to sit outside his house and call him a wanker? “Well he is.”

The Guardian is fainting again.

Kill Charlie, blame Trump

Charlie Kirk tried to have polite discussions with liberals. He was a well-organized and low-keyed debater who let the facts tell the story. Last week, the male lover of a tranny drag queen assassinated Charlie.

Incredibly, Democrats are demanding Republicans tone down the rhetoric. Charlie’s rhetoric was as low as you can go without being silent. Nevertheless, a leftist silenced him.

Carney gov’t will only be “A Little Bit Pregnant” by Palestinian State

Canada’s recognition of Palestine will be a ‘step-by-step process,’ Anita Anand says

OTTAWA—Canada will recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations later this month, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says, but will hold off fully normalizing diplomatic relations until there is real democratic progress from the Palestinian Authority.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada’s intention to recognize a Palestinian state in July, on the conditions that the Palestinian Authority commit to governance reforms, hold general elections in 2026 and demilitarize. He also said Hamas cannot be part of any future Palestinian government.

The Palestinian Authority, which controls the government in the West Bank, has promised elections but no dates have been set, and it has not yet met any of the other conditions.

Two flying cars crashed into each other at a rehearsal for an air show in China which was meant to be a showcase for the technology.

The Xpeng AeroHT vehicles collided in mid-air, with one catching fire during landing, the company said in a statement to Reuters.

The company said people at the scene were safe, but CNN reported one person was injured in the crash, citing an anonymous company employee.

The rehearsals on Tuesday were for the Changchun Air Show, set to start later this week in north-east China.

Chinese drivers. Sheesh.

Bernier claims Freeland’s new position will allow her to send ‘billions to the country of her grandparents’

People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier has criticized the appointment of Chrystia Freeland as Canada’s new Special Representative for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, arguing that Ottawa has already spent too much supporting the war-torn country.

In a post on X, Bernier claimed that Canada has committed $22 billion to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, alleging that such funding has “unnecessarily prolonged the war” and “destroyed Ukraine.”

Ukraine has a corruption problem and forever wars are grifter nirvana. Look no further than Afghanistan.

When your fighting age men flee the country in droves it’s time to seek peace.

I fully expect to see Zelensky bugging out via helicopter one day with Freeland clinging to the struts.

OPP will not participate in federal gun buyback program, minister says

OTTAWA—The Ontario Provincial Police is refusing to participate in the Carney government’s upcoming gun buyback program, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said Wednesday, as he vowed the federal government will still have a “robust” ability to collect banned weapons in the province.

The OPP’s refusal comes after months of negotiations and throws a wrench in Ottawa’s plans, with the provincial force responsible for more than a quarter of the policing in Ontario. It means the federal government will have to reach agreements with municipal police forces such as Toronto Police, Peel Police and others, while finding a solution to cover areas without a local force.

Has the OPP made any additional progress on the Sikh Shooter file? I know they arrested the genius who filmed his own vehicle but since then?

Spanish police arrest 19 for torturing and killing up to 50 fellow migrants on boat

Up to 50 passengers aboard a vessel sailing from Senegal to the Canaries were allegedly tortured or thrown overboard, with some victims even accused of witchcraft

Spanish police have arrested 19 people accused of killing and torturing up to 50 fellow passengers aboard a migrant vessel, allegedly throwing overboard victims accused of witchcraft.

The wooden vessel from Senegal was rescued adrift south of Gran Canaria on August 24 with 248 survivors aboard, Spanish police said. Authorities believe the boat originally carried about 300 people and many of the missing are presumed to have been cast into the Atlantic during the 11-day voyage.

Canada’s submarine choice could break tradition, embrace South Korea in Indo-Pacific shift

Baking Powder Submarine

A South Korean company has made the short list to supply this country with a fleet of submarines, and if Ottawa ultimately picks Seoul-based Hanwha it would be the first time Canada has purchased a major weapons platform from a non-Western supplier.

It would represent a significant pivot from American and European contractors and forge a new relationship with an Asian country that faces major security challenges of its own, including a heavily-militarized Korean Peninsula and an increasingly aggressive People’s Republic of China.

Fearless Prediction: The Sub program will never come to fruition.
