Labour Board to Hear Case of Ontario Teachers Who Say They Were Fired for Not Supporting LGBT Celebrations

Two Ontario teachers who say they were fired for not celebrating LGBT pride at school will have their case heard before the provincial labour relations board.

Matt and Nicole Alexander allege they were suspended and then fired from the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) in October of 2023 for declining to participate in and affirm LGBT events and policies at their schools, according to the non-profit Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), which is providing them with legal aid.

Rightwing influencer accompanied Ice agents during raids in Chicago

A rightwing influencer accompanied officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) in Chicago on Sunday as the agency ramps up arrests in the city. Ice agents arrested four people on the city’s south-west side.

Ben Bergquam, the rightwing internet personality, was with agents, filming and making content as well as getting into altercations with local residents along the way, according to a video the Guardian viewed on X. In the video, he appears to be in the car with Ice agents and nearby as they arrest people; later on he yells at a group of Chicagoans who are gathered to prevent Ice operations that they are “the enemy within”.

Because they are the enemy within.

Eby spoke the truth on the immigration causing his fellow NDP’ers to have a shit hemorrhage.

B.C. Premier David Eby faces internal backlash from usual commies over immigration comments

B.C. Premier David Eby is facing pushback after linking Canada’s temporary foreign worker program to high youth unemployment and strains on social services, with New Democrats calling his remarks out of step with party values.

In response to a question about provincial belt-tightening at an unrelated news conference last week, Mr. Eby noted Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s call for Ottawa to axe the program and said it was a timely issue that should be considered.

Truth hurts.

More than half of Canadians no longer feel safe in their neighbourhoods, poll finds

2023 BOLO

A strong majority of Canadians feel they have the right to defend their home against intruders — and more than half say they don’t always feel safe in their neighbourhoods and that the justice system is working against their interests, new polling shows.

“I don’t think that’s a healthy sentiment in Canada if over half don’t really feel the justice system is working in their interest,” Andrew Enns, Leger’s executive vice-president, said Tuesday about the findings of a new national Postmedia-Leger poll.

Anti-Islamic US biker gang members run security at deadly Gaza aid sites

The firm guarding sites where aid is distributed in Gaza has been using members of a US biker gang with a history of hostility to Islam to run its armed security, a BBC investigation has found.

BBC News has confirmed the identities of 10 members of the Infidels Motorcycle Club working in Gaza for UG Solutions – a private contractor providing security at Gaza Humanitarian Foundation sites, where hundreds of civilians seeking food have been killed in scenes of chaos and gunfire.

We can reveal that seven members of the gang are in senior positions overseeing sites at the controversial aid operation backed by Israel and US President Donald Trump.

Poland Says ‘Hostile Objects’ Downed in Its Airspace During Russian Attack on Ukraine

Poland said Wednesday it had scrambled aircraft alongside allies to shoot down “hostile objects” violating its airspace during a Russian attack on neighboring Ukraine, a first for a NATO country during the war.

“Aircraft have used weapons against hostile objects,” Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on social media, adding: “We are in constant contact with NATO command.”

The incursion came as Russia unleashed a barrage of strikes across Ukraine, including in the western city of Lviv, around 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the Polish border.

Ford government declines to say if temporary foreign worker program should end

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says young people aren’t looking “hard enough” for work in the province and suggested unemployed people should consider “fast food” as a potential job choice.

At the same time, the Ford government has declined to take a position on whether the federal government should eliminate the temporary foreign worker program, which other Canadian premiers have suggested is one of the root causes of the country’s employment woes.

Channel migrants in line for millions in compensation

Channel migrants are in line for millions of pounds in compensation from the Home Office for being “unlawfully” detained in “inhumane” conditions.

Almost 200 asylum seekers have lodged legal claims for their unlawful detention and mistreatment by the Home Office at the Manston migrant holding centre near Dover, citing the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

Allegations include sexual assault, physical abuse and theft of property by guards, as well as disease-ridden, dirty and cold conditions, with outbreaks of diphtheria and scabies, forcible separation of families and denial of medical aid.

Ottawa considered monetary penalties and ‘binding legislation’ to lower grocery prices

The federal government considered using “binding legislation” and monetary penalties to make grocery giants stabilize prices, a sign the government was at one point willing to take sweeping action to address public anger over soaring grocery costs and rising corporate profits.

A 2024 document obtained by the IJF through its Open By Default database reveals public servants in Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada proposed legislation forcing grocers to adopt a “code of conduct” meant to reduce food inflation.
