Hollywood actors union eyes video game strike

The union representing actors in the US is looking to authorise a second strike against major video game companies.

Talks between SAG-AFTRA and companies like Activision and Electronic Arts have reached a “stalemate”, the union said on Friday, particularly on wage increases and artificial intelligence.

Hollywood actors have been on strike since 13 July against major TV and film companies.

Rishi Sunak can learn from Canadian Conservatives on housing

In Canada, something that would be unthinkable in UK politics is occurring. Young people are voting centre-right, with Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party (CPC) enjoying a seven-point lead among 18-29 year-olds, rising to 19 points among 30-44 year-olds. By contrast, in the UK the Tories trail Labour by 44 points among 18-24 year-olds, and by 43 points among 25-49 year-olds.

Ukraine war: Putin influencers profiting from war propaganda

Russia’s pro-war influencers are generating big advertising revenues from their social media coverage of the conflict, the BBC has found.

Alongside a daily ration of gruesome videos of drone strikes and false claims about Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, they share ads for anything from cryptocurrency to fashion.

Known in Russia as “Z-Bloggers” because of their support for a war often symbolised by the letter Z, they are often embedded with the Russian army and post footage from the front line where they call on young Russians to enlist.

Glavin: Muslim conference pulls a controversial speaker amid antisemitism accusations

Another year, another conference, another tableau of speakers, some associated with antisemitism, homophobia, misogyny and hatred.

The convening organization is not the grotesque Goyim Defense League, a Hitler-admiring American neo-fascist groupuscule linked to a spate of graffiti, leaflets and posters the RCMP has begun investigating in the Toronto area. It’s the federally funded Muslim Association of Canada (MAC).

Federally funded? Of course it is, has been for years.

I used to monitor conferences like this but came to the conclusion it wasn’t worth my time.

A speaker may be pulled once in awhile but those responsible will cry innocence til next time and there is always a next time.

Federal funding by our vote whoring UNIPARTY was one reason I left it behind but the Kumbaya crowd was the last straw.

They have convinced themselves that their moderate crocodile friends will eat them last.

The effort wasn’t worth the static from these appeasers.

And the conferences go on and on and on because diversity!

Soon we will be as sophisticated and multicultural as London, Paris, Brussels or Berlin and soon we will have our own Leicster’s.

The Daily Beast Suggests Trump Interview Was Fake. There’s Just One Problem…

It’s a perfect example of the state of modern journalism. A “National Politics Reporter” for The Daily Beast set out to dunk on an interview John Solomon did with former President Donald Trump at Real America’s Voice, suggesting the voice on the phone was either an impersonator or AI, and ended up getting punked himself.

TERRAZZANO: Gas tax hikes show Trudeau doesn’t care about affordability

Fanatics will always show their true colours

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refuses to do the one thing that would immediately make life more affordable: cut gas taxes.

The federal government makes you pay a fuel tax, a carbon tax, a second carbon tax and a sales tax every time you fuel up. In total, federal taxes add about 31 cents per litre to the price of gas, or about $20 extra to fuel up a large sedan.

Net-zero policy hurts everyone but especially the poor. It is class warfare.

Chicago‘s Steppenwolf Theatre Company Announces Layoffs as Audience Craters — Leaders Embraced DEI, Trans Pronouns

Chicago’s famed Steppenwolf Theatre Company is the latest major performing arts institution to report plummeting ticket sales and layoffs, with more than ten percent of employees set to lose their jobs. Leaders are blaming soaring operating costs due to inflation and a slower-than-expected “post-pandemic” economy.

2nd Afghan Canadian sues feds, claiming fleeing Ukrainians treated better

The federal government is asking a judge to combine two separate lawsuits, after another Afghan Canadian alleged Canada discriminated against Afghan refugees by treating them differently than they did Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion.

A former Canadian language and culture adviser who served NATO in Afghanistan filed a lawsuit at the end of July alleging the government has not allowed his family in Afghanistan to seek refuge in Canada.

How many thousands of interpreters or other local staff did the CAF and other Canadian organizations really employ or actually need in Afghanistan?

It seems every single soldier must have had at least a half dozen of them and we left in 2014.

This is beginning to look like post WW II France when suddenly even the collaboraters were all secret resistance fighters.

Did someone have a “School for Interpreters” scam going?

It must still be in operation.

Ulez: 171 reports of vandalised cameras logged by Met Police in two weeks

There have been 171 reports of crimes relating to Ulez cameras logged since 17 August, the Met Police has said.

The BBC previously revealed that more than 300 cameras had been vandalised between April and mid-August.

The actual number of cameras affected is likely to be even higher as one report can represent attacks on multiple cameras.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s Ultra Low Emission Zone expanded across all of the capital’s boroughs on 29 August.

It’s a good bet Chairman Chow will implement a similar tin pot tyranny.

As we see with Trudeau if a policy amounts to nothing more than virtue signaling without actual benefit but hurts the poor then double down.

Cory Morgan: It’s Time to Start Excavating the Kamloops Residential School Site

In May 2021, the world was shocked when it was reported ground penetrating radar (GPR) had identified as many as 200 possible grave sites at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in B.C. Protests and memorials erupted across Canada. The flag was kept at half mast for over six months while a new national holiday was created to recognize damage caused by residential schools. Dozens of churches were burned, and Pope Francis came to Canada to personally apologize for the schools.

Since then, all further investigation of the Kamloops site appears to have inexplicably halted.

Elon Musk reveals Twitter takeover driven by hatred of ‘woke mind virus that infected trans daughter’

Elon Musk was driven to take over Twitter after fearing his transgender daughter had been infected with a “woke mind virus” incubated on the social media platform.

Mr Musk had initially rushed to embrace the news when Jenna, formally known as Xavier, transitioned at age 16.

But when she later cut him out of her life entirely, he knew he had a fight on his hands, a battle which would eventually culminate in the world’s richest man buying Twitter for $44 billion.

Kherson at centre of Ukraine battle to repel Russians

It was just after dawn on the Kherson delta when the Ukrainian armoured personal carrier began subjecting Russian positions to a barrage of fire with its mounted cannon. A torrent of high-explosive tracer rounds pulsed across the Dnipro river, shattering the early morning calm. Moments later, further down the dusty riverside road, a Ukrainian heavy machine gunner opened covering fire.

The surprise attack continued for a few minutes, the sound of a blast echoing somewhere in Russian-held territory before the Ukrainian special operation forces sped back towards their base. The Russians did not return fire. “There’s nothing up there,” said Serhiy, as he monitored the skies for drones on a hand-held electronic device.

Why Russian tanks are falling short of their Western counterparts

The three main attributes of the tank are firepower protection and mobility.

The Russians very much focus on firepower and mobility whereas Western tanks favour protection, that is physical protection of the crew. A lot of us who’ve been looking at this closely, we’re very interested in data coming out of Ukraine this week that of the 71 Leopard 2 German tanks that have been operating right at the front, in Ukraine, only five have been destroyed and no tank crew have been killed, which is quite phenomenal.
