A-list actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and others have all vowed to strike against the studios if they do not meet the proposed demands from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) union.

I forgot all about the writer’s strike. Frankly Hollywood on strike is probably good for the collective mind.

Rex Murphy: Ontario school board ‘cultivates’ vapid verbiage while its students and teachers suffer

Joseph Brean very recently wrote an excellent article about a school in crisis in Mississauga, Ont. The substance of his article was a cri de coeur about rampant violence in the hallways, threats against staff, and the school board’s heavy-handed response to a teacher who dared to speak out. It is a frightening account.

The article included comments from a Peel District School Board spokesperson. It is these remarks I’d like to deal with, particularly the jargon-infested, warm-dough language, non-substance reply to Brean’s questions.

The officials said they are trying to learn if Gen. Sergei Surovikin, the former top Russian commander in Ukraine, helped plan Mr. Prigozhin’s actions last weekend, which posed the most dramatic threat to President Vladimir V. Putin in his 23 years in power.

GUNTER: Toronto mayor’s victory will hurt Canada

Why should Canadians outside of Toronto care about this past Monday’s mayoral election there?

The rest of us aren’t going to have to pay the taxes needed to cover the winner’s grandiose, lefty dreams or live with the crime caused by her ultra-progressive approaches to policing, addiction, homelessness and unemployment or put up with the frustration of her transit and bike-lane expansion or added regulations.
