Alcohol ban for all Paris Olympics spectators… except VIPs

Spectators at next year’s Paris Olympics will have to make do with soft drinks while VIPs quaff wine, champagne and beer after organisers decided not to seek an exemption to a law prohibiting the sale of alcohol in stadiums.

Under la loi Evin, legislation in place since 1991, the sale of alcohol to the general public inside stadiums in France is banned.

Peter Menzies: Intolerance for Contrary Opinions Is Pushing Canada Closer to the Future Orwell Predicted

The Canadian government’s campaign for complete control over what you can hear, see, and say is rolling like a platoon of tanks across what once were the wide open spaces of the internet.

It’s not enough that its Online Streaming Act puts all audio and visual content under the sweeping Sauron-like eye of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), notorious for its spoon-feeding of approved content to consumers who gag on its broccoli.

Does Everyone Agree That Affirmative Action Has to Go?

As we hurtle toward a resolution of the matter, I am struggling to intuit what the principled case could be in favor of the Supreme Court’s failing to strike down affirmative action this time. It seems to me that, irrespective of one’s preferred judicial philosophy, the logic leads inexorably to the Court’s nixing the practice. Originalist, non-originalist, “living constitutionalist” — whatever. Unless you truly think that the Court ought to just do what you personally prefer — or you think that Americans should be governed indefinitely by an unmoored and unelected Council of Experts — the outcome should be clear, no?

Two short videos perfectly sum up the climate change scam

While it’s obvious that humankind can destroy its local environments (and has been doing that for millennia), it is equally obvious that the Earth’s climate trends are unaffected by humankind’s limited industrial abilities. I just caught up with two videos from May that show just how ridiculous the climate scam is…and how it’s being used to enrich our most powerful geopolitical opponent to our great detriment

What happened to QAnon?

“There’s a storm coming,” popular historian turned esoteric political commentator Neil Oliver posted on Twitter in May, “Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But there’s a storm coming.” As Mr. Oliver is a Scotsman who calls himself “the Coast Guy,” some of his followers might have thought he was referring to the weather. Others more acquainted with the tropes of modern conspiratorial thought, though, will see the reference to a “storm” as a reference to a time of social and political crisis. It comes — whether Mr. Oliver knows it or not — from the fevered discourse of QAnon.

Sweden’s PM Vows Change in Migration Policy to the ‘EU’s Strictest’

How the Left annihilated Sweden.

Center-Right Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has finally declared a drastic shift in the immigration policy of a once-peaceful country that has become a haven for the most violent foreign gangs, due to its infamous open-door welcome at the height of the migration crisis that has continued since 2015. Kristersson announced that Sweden is changing its “migration policy to the EU’s strictest.” The Sweden Democrats were handed a virtual no-win predicament when they joined the government in 2022, caused by the previous Socialist Democratic Party. “Almost all 5,000 gang members” in Sweden are migrants, and their proliferation is threatening to get worse without state intervention.

Falling Soldier image really was faked, says Spanish researcher

An image that became synonymous with the Spanish Civil War and catapulted the photographer Robert Capa to fame is a fake, new research has confirmed.

The Falling Soldier, showing a Spanish fighter apparently frozen in the moment of his death, was published by Life magazine in 1937. The caption read: “Robert Capa’s camera captures the instant when a Spanish soldier is shot in the head by a bullet on the Cordoba front”

Welcome to Fahrenheit 2023

Censors cut out writers’ tongues and obliterate worlds

Avid readers are a small and dwindling minority of the population. But even they can’t be expected to understand what it means to have one’s book locked away by literary wardens, or manhandled by fat-fingered editors who rifle through typescript like policemen conducting a search — something that’s happening with alarming frequency in the US today.

Ukraine recaptures territory held by Russia since 2014

Ukraine has for the first time liberated territory which has been under Russian control since 2014, British intelligence officials said.

The small patch of land is in an area near Krasnohorivka, some 10 miles south west of the city of Donetsk.

The capture marks the first time since Russia’s invasion in February last year that Ukraine’s forces have been able to retake land seized in the initial Donbas invasion eight years prior.

Congress doubles down on explosive claims of illegal UFO retrieval programs

Asked June 26 about allegations of secret UFO retrieval and reverse-engineering programs, Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) made several stunning statements.

In an exclusive interview, Rubio told NewsNation Washington correspondent Joe Khalil that multiple individuals with “very high clearances and high positions within our government” “have come forward to share” “first-hand” UFO-related claims “beyond the realm of what [the Senate Intelligence Committee] has ever dealt with.”

Canada considers Quebec woman with six children in Syria a security risk, lawyer says

OTTAWA – A lawyer says Canada will not repatriate a Quebec woman being held in Syria with her six children because officials believe she poses a security risk.

Lawyer Lawrence Greenspon, who has been working to bring the woman home, said he was advised of the decision recently by Global Affairs Canada.

The department wrote on June 21 that the woman has “extremist ideological beliefs” that may lead her to act violently, and the government cannot ensure no such conduct occurs, he said Monday.

None of them should have been allowed back. They are not victims.
