NYC rules crack down on coal, wood-fired pizzerias — must cut carbon emissions up to 75%

Mamma Mia!

Historic Big Apple pizza joints could be forced to dish out mounds of dough under a proposed city edict targeting pollutant-spewing coal-and-wood-fired ovens, The Post has learned.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection has drafted new rules that would order eateries using the decades-old baking method to slice carbon emissions by up to 75%.

Toronto mayoral poll tracker: Toronto chooses new mayor today and final opinion polls are in

Toronto chooses a new mayor today and the final opinion polls are in. They suggest that Olivia Chow ends the race with a lead that is significant but smaller than at any time since the early campaign days. Mayor John Tory’s endorsement last week of former councillor Ana Bailão has propelled Bailão firmly into second place with the best shot, it appears, of an upset victory over Chow, a former NDP MP.

May as well elect Chow, Toronto deserves the pain.

Obi Gon Gonadi: Disney‘s ‘Star Wars‘ Casts First Transgender Actor in a Major Role

Star Wars transvestite – Obi Gon Gonadi

Disney’s Star Wars has cast its first transgender actor in a major role, hiring British male-to-female YouTube personality Abigail Thorn for the role in the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte, according to multiple reports.

Apparently the franchise is already in the dumpster so I guess this makes sense in a fiddle while it burns kinda way.

Canada will soon end ‘inefficient’ fossil fuel subsidies. But what does that mean?

Canada has for years forked over billions of dollars in subsidies to oil and gas companies — an approach that critics say flies in the face of the country’s climate goals, and impinges on efforts to turn toward renewable energy sources.

Now, the federal government is preparing to release a new policy that will put an end to “inefficient fossil fuel subsidies,” a commitment Canada made more than a decade ago.

A spokesperson for Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said the new policy will be released in July.

Because wind and sun are so reliable and need no subsidy.

Heroic IRS whistleblower testimony ensnarls Hunter and Joe Biden in bribery scheme

Every taxpayer who dutifully hands over their hard-earned cash every year to the government should be enraged by IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley’s testimony about how senior leaders at the Department of Justice, the FBI and the IRS sabotaged the five-year investigation into Hunter Biden and allowed him to walk away with a laughably lenient plea deal and unpaid taxes.

When Intel Services Go Public, You Know It’s Serious

I don’t know how many times I have heard Canadians say that CSIS stands for the “Canadian Secret Intelligence Service.” It does not. The first “s” stand for “security,” and a security intelligence service is different than a foreign intelligence one, although in some countries the mandates overlap (think CIA). Similarly, many are convinced that CSE is short for “Canadian Security Establishment.” Again, wrong. The “c” stands for communications and is a hint into what this agency does – it collects signals intelligence, a.k.a. SIGINT, and helps to keep our communications secure.

The choice to vote for Toronto’s next mayor comes at a critical time. None of us should pass that up.

I believe that democracy is not an event, it’s a process. One that works best when as many people as possible stay engaged and involved.

But elections are events. And this one is here.

On Monday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Toronto voters have the chance to decide who will lead their city government. The choice could hardly come at a more important time.

Killing of Sikh Leader Raises Fears in British Columbia

Members of the Sikh community in Surrey believe that Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the president of a local temple, was killed because of his political views.

On Sunday, after riddling a car with bullets in a parking lot, two masked, heavyset men made a run for it and jumped into a getaway vehicle near a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia, the police said.

The victim, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, 45, was a prominent Sikh community leader and president of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, a temple where he was shot. He advocated the creation of Khalistan, an independent Sikh nation carved out of areas including the Indian state of Punjab.

Russian agents’ threat to family made Prigozhin call off Moscow advance

Russian intelligence services threatened to harm the families of Wagner leaders before Yevgeny Prigozhin called off his advance on Moscow, according to UK security sources.

It has also been assessed that the mercenary force had only 8,000 fighters rather than the 25,000 claimed and faced likely defeat in any attempt to take the Russian capital.

Vladimir Putin will now try to assimilate Wagner Group soldiers into the Russian military and take out its former leaders, according to insights shared with The Telegraph.

Yes, US elections can be hacked

A long-suppressed expert report settles the argument

After years of lawfare, a smoking gun report on US election machinery has come to light – and it shreds the supposed security of electronic voting machines in the 2020 election. The report says the system’s flaws would allow vote switching and the alteration of election results ‘without detection’.

The report’s author says wryly it’s not even hard to do: ‘No grand conspiracies would be necessary to commit large-scale fraud, but rather only moderate technical skills….’ And while the report focuses on Georgia, it notes that the same unsafe equipment was used in 15 other states in the 2020 election, including swing states such as Arizona, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

It’s Not Racist to Say Basketball Players Are Tall

Getting some jobs requires a more elite level of talent than others. For example, it appears that a post as an op-ed contributor to USA Today these days demands a talent for awfulness that would far exceed the grasp of most Americans. Witness left-wing columnist Mike Freeman, whose job description is “Race and Inequality Editor-Sports.” His column entitled “Ron DeSantis pushes racist tropes in latest comments about basketball and baseball players” must be read to be believed. For a symptom of how much partisan dreck this column is, Freeman asserts that “DeSantis is one of the most prominent anti-Black politicians alive,” citing with a straight face the ridiculous NAACP “travel advisory” against Florida and linking to an article quoting notorious bigot Al Sharpton.
