Jamie Sarkonak: How Ottawa is pursuing ‘land back’ policies could undermine Canadian sovereignty

Courts have noted since the 1990s and early 2000s that negotiations outside the courts are the ideal way to resolve Indigenous land claims, but these disputes are still dealt with by courts and administrative tribunals. As of early June, the federal government reports that 1,082 specific claims for compensation have been settled, with another 590 in progress.

Now, Parliament is taking steps to bring the ball into its own court. This should be a positive development, but under the leadership of the Liberals and the passive response from Conservatives, it’s possible we could end up with a worse land claims system than the status quo. The frameworks being studied and considered lack regard for what the consequences would be for Canada’s very existence, especially if the government became overgenerous with land.

Senator Admits UFO Whistleblower Report Tracks With Official Briefing

Senator Josh Hawley said a recent UFO whistleblower’s report is “pretty close” to information he received in a briefing after the United States shot down a spy balloon and other unidentified flying objects this past winter.

The Missouri Republican said he wasn’t surprised, but he was “disturbed” by David Grusch’s claims that not only has the government found proof of but also covered up several “non-human” crafts and remains.

Grusch, a 36-year-old Airforce veteran, told NewsNation earlier this month that a top-secret military program found fully intact UFOs, or “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAPs). Grusch, who previously worked as the National Reconnaissance Office’s representative to the UAP Task Force, said that the U.S. covered up several “non-human origin” crafts and “dead pilots.”

The MP is concerned future announcements will be made through AUKUS and not 5 EYES squeezing Canada out. My concern is that CAF was asked to leave when they insisted 5 EYES refuse contact with NHI who are not onboard with Transgender rights.

Titanic tourist submersible: Rescuers scan ocean as clock ticks

Search teams are racing against time to find a tourist submersible that went missing during a dive to the Titanic’s wreck on Sunday.

Five people were on board when contact with the small sub was lost about an hour and 45 minutes into its dive.

The rescue operation has continued overnight in the mid-Atlantic but so far there has been no sign of it.

The five on board include British businessman Hamish Harding, and father and son Shahzada and Suleman Dawood.

‘Terminal Decline’: Ontario Teachers Plead for Help as Schools Descend into Violent Mayhem

James Murphy has been part of Ontario’s Dufferin-Peel Catholic school district since he was five years old. After graduating and going through teacher’s college, he was hired in 1981 by his former high-school principal. Over the coming decades Murphy’s kids would matriculate through the district.

“Anything that needed to be done in my school, I would do,” Murphy told National Review.

The high-school biology teacher, now 60 with a thick shock of flowing white hair, fondly recalls playing guitar for students, serving as a liaison for the district’s Environmental Youth Alliance, being a union representative, and coaching football.

How can we be having these issues when we give the teachers all the money and more that they ask for?

We’re always told that extravagant raises and benefits are for the students.

Hunter Biden, the sex and drug crazed pervert son of President Creepy Joe reaches deal to plead guilty in tax, gun case

President Biden’s son Hunter has reached a tentative agreement with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to two minor tax crimes and admit to the facts of a gun charge under terms that would likely keep him out of jail, according to court papers filed Tuesday.

Any proposed plea deal would have to be approved by a federal judge, and it was not immediately clear what day Hunter Biden, 53, might appear in court to enter his guilty plea.

The agreement caps an investigation that was opened in 2018 during the Trump administration, and has generated intense interest and criticism since 2020 from Republican politicians who accused the Biden administration of reluctance to pursue the case. The terms of the proposed deal — negotiated with Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a holdover from President Donald Trump’s administration — are likely to face similar scrutiny.

Justin Trudeau will be remembered for his ‘leadership’ — not ‘the trash and the rumours,’ says sketchy Ex-Pm who took cash in envelopes from sketchy German

Justin Trudeau will be remembered for his ‘leadership’ — not ‘the trash and the rumours,’ Brian Mulroney says

OTTAWA — It wasn’t the flattering words, but the bitter context, that made Brian Mulroney’s introduction of Justin Trudeau on Monday night an extraordinary political moment.

Far from Parliament Hill, in Nova Scotia the former Progressive Conservative prime minister hailed Trudeau for his “leadership” of Canada through repeated crises, saying that’s what history will remember, not “trivia and the trash and the rumours that make the rounds” in Ottawa.

Mulroney: nothing wrong accepting envelopes of $1,000 bills

OTTAWA – Former prime minister Brian Mulroney cited the brazen public nature of his cash transactions with Karlheinz Schreiber as evidence today that there was nothing untoward in their business arrangement.

Mulroney told a public inquiry that he accepted an envelope stuffed with 75 one-thousand-dollar bills from Schreiber at a hotel at Montreal’s Mirabel Airport and then climbed into a car with his RCMP escort with the envelope in full view.

Grifters or what?

Pride protests strain America’s multicultural project

A clash of ideologies is tearing the country apart

Earlier this month, the White House unfurled a Progress Pride flag flanked by two national flags. This prompted some to read the act as symbolising defeat of the Stars and Stripes by a new ruling ideology. Republican Senator Roger Marshall introduced a new bill to ban government buildings from flying any flag except the national one.

Liberals, Conservatives take 2 seats apiece in 4 federal byelections

Voters in four federal ridings are sticking with the status quo, returning two Liberals and two Conservatives to Parliament after byelections in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

CBC News projects Liberals Ben Carr in Winnipeg South Centre and Anna Gainey in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount and Conservatives Arpan Khanna in Oxford and Branden Leslie in Portage-Lisgar will win their respective races.

That means the party standings in the House of Commons are unchanged after Monday’s vote.

All were safe seats for the LibCons, Bernier and the PPC will just have to soldier on.

Toronto’s housing affordability crisis poses threat to city’s future

Toronto has had a net loss of more than 11,000 young families over the past decade, a sign that the housing affordability crisis at the heart of the mayoral campaign is becoming an existential threat to the city’s future.

The statistic is one of a series of stark numbers pointing to the scale of the problem. Real estate prices and rents have soared, construction of new homes has lagged population growth, and development approvals can take years.

Tories Say Sustainable Jobs Act Will Cause Significant Job Loss

The Conservative Party says the Liberal government’s recently introduced Sustainable Jobs Act will “kill thousands of jobs” across Canada as it aims to move oil- and gas-sector workers into green-energy jobs over the coming years.

Conservative MP and natural resources critic Shannon Stubbs said in a statement on June 19 that the proposed Bill C-50—which has been referred to as the federal “just transition” legislation—is a “job-killing plan” that will displace “450,000 direct and indirect jobs” across the country.

The Ukraine-American Gordian Knot

The illegal efforts of Ukrainians to lobby for arms shipments will prove counter-productive. And if not curtailed, the interference will turn off Americans enough to cut this tangled Ukrainian knot.

Most Americans sympathize with Ukraine and were and are willing to supply it with defensive weapons to repel Russian aggression.

Proof of that goodwill is the virtual draining of U.S. weapon stocks—from stockpiles of anti-tank weapons and large-caliber artillery shells to anti-aircraft and surface-to-surface missiles. Yet the more the United States gives, the more Volodymyr Zelenskyy demands—and the more the American people acquiesce in sympathy for his plight.
