Jesse Kline: Trudeau demands climate sacrifice, while China burns coal with abandon

Last week, my son announced at the dinner table that his school had turned off the lights for a time to “celebrate” Earth Day. To my mind, it seemed more of a lesson in why we need electricity to power our modern civilization, yet the kids were apparently allowed to spend the time playing computer games, which makes the overall point of the exercise hard to decipher.

Nightmare for Russia: Attack of the Kamikaze Chinese Drones

Wearing video goggles, 1,000 newly Ukrainian-trained drone operators plan to fly swarms of small but deadly Chinese-made kamikaze drones across southeastern Ukraine’s front lines next month. This futuristic vision of warfare is not the nightmare of Russian military planners tossing in their sleep but of a Russian military blogger known as “Russian Engineer.”

In a blog post that drew 2.1 million readers, Russian Engineer claims that Ukrainian military cutouts cornered the market last winter on cheap, racing drones produced by the world’s largest drone producer, DJI Technology Company. The Russian blogger claims that the Ukrainians have bought up to 100,000 of these drones from the Shenzhen-based producer.

Sajjan says he was unaware of senator sending travel documents to Afghans because ‘I wasn’t reading my e-mail’

Minister Harjit Sajjan says he wasn’t checking his e-mail during the 2021 fall of Afghanistan and it’s possible his inbox includes correspondence that a senator’s office was distributing Canadian government travel documents but he didn’t authorize the practice.

Mr. Sajjan told the House of Commons immigration committee Wednesday evening that he also wasn’t aware that his then chief of staff, George Young, had sent templates of the federal documents to Senator Marilou McPhedran’s office, or that the senator then helped distribute them to hundreds of Afghans trying to escape the brutal Taliban regime.

Pride committee to file human rights complaint after Norwich, Ont. bans flags on civic property

The president of a Pride committee is filing a human rights complaint after the Township of Norwich passed a motion to ban non-government flags, including Pride flags, on municipal properties.

The controversial debate in the rural southwestern Ontario community located east of London drew in large opposing crowds from across Oxford County to council’s meeting chambers Tuesday night. Amid growing boos from the public gallery, council voted 3-2 to approve the flag ban, with Mayor Jim Palmer breaking the tie.

No one has the right to dictate that you raise a flag glorifying the sexual mutilation of children.

Joe Biden will face fresh questions about his fitness for office after he unwittingly brandished a cheatsheet that contained a vetted question from a journalist.

The cards, prepared by aides, featured a list of Biden’s own senior officials who were taking part in the ceremony at the White House and possible talking points.

Jamie Sarkonak: Justin Trudeau’s Great Canadian Gun Confiscation

When governments take private property, such takings are usually done to carry out some larger public project — like building roads and other infrastructure. Unlike property seizures of the past, the Trudeau Liberals’ gun confiscation (“buyback”) isn’t supporting some larger project for the benefit of the public. It’s a confiscation of private property for the sake of fulfilling a platform point.

Russia can fund war in Ukraine for another year despite sanctions, leaked document says

U.S. intelligence holds that Russia will be able to fund the war in Ukraine for at least another year, even under the heavy and increasing weight of unprecedented sanctions, according to leaked U.S. military documents.

The previously unreported documents provide a rare glimpse into Washington’s understanding of the effectiveness of its own economic measures, and of the tenor of the response they have met in Russia, where U.S. intelligence finds that senior officials, agencies and the staff of oligarchs are fretting over the painful disruptions — and adapting to them.

While some of Russia’s economic elites might not agree with the country’s course in Ukraine, and sanctions have hurt their businesses, they are unlikely to withdraw support for Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to an assessment that appears to date from early March.

Canadian Military 2021 Memo Stated COVID Vaccine Mandate Would Not Be ‘Informed Consent’

Canada’s top soldier received a memo from his advisory body in August 2021 telling him that imposing a vaccination mandate under threat of discipline would “not constitute informed consent.”

“Medical ethical restrictions prevent CAF [Canadian Armed Forces] Health Services personnel from administering vaccines without the informed consent of the recipients. Coercion of CAF members to accept vaccination under threat of military discipline would not constitute informed consent,” the memo reads.

Canadian government was warned for weeks that Sudan conflict was coming: sources

Canadian officials were warned three weeks ago that Sudan was sliding towards a major civil conflict, raising questions about the Liberal government’s statements that the situation took the world by “surprise” amid concerns over the pace of evacuation efforts, multiple sources tell Global News.

While Canadian Armed Forces members and assets are already in the region, as of Wednesday they had yet to begin military evacuations for diplomatic personnel and Canadian nationals. The 180 Canadians that have been evacuated as of Wednesday have done so on aircraft operated by Canada’s allies.

Canadian civil servants have a great pension system – why can’t that be expanded to us all?

In an aging world, the design and management of a country’s retirement income system becomes an increasingly important determinant of its future social and economic performance.

The Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index ranks Canada’s system No. 11 out of 44 countries, ahead of many countries, but behind the Nordic nations, the Netherlands, Australia and Britain. What will it take for Canada to catch up with, or even surpass, these top countries in pension system quality? The answer is surprisingly obvious, but it will take extraordinary leadership efforts to get us from here to there.

Makes way too much sense for the UNIPARTY.

Trudeau Says Marijuana Legalization Kept Drug From Kids; Stats Show Otherwise

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on April 20—a celebratory day ritualized by cannabis users known as 4/20—that he has successfully kept cannabis out of kids’ hands by legalizing the drug.

The main studies on youth cannabis use, however, “are not very conclusive,” says Chantal Vallerand, executive director of Drug Free Kids Canada.
