Thousands of military members to be cut off as Ottawa introduces expanded housing benefit

After working on it for almost a decade and a half, the Department of National Defence (DND) is rolling out a new benefit to help military members deal with the high cost of housing — but it’s not going over very well with everyone.

Military members learned at a virtual town hall Tuesday that a new, highly-anticipated housing benefit is coming in July. It’s meant to help lower-ranking members cope with steep housing costs in dozens of additional Canadian locations.

But not everyone is getting it. The military estimates the new policy will mean roughly 7,700 military members who have been receiving a monthly housing allowance will soon be cut off. That news sparked an angry online backlash from those who say they will receive less than before.

Hotter than Taylor Swift: ‘Trump won, and you know it’

Despite shadow-banning and some outright censorship, the new music video “Trump Won” has skyrocketed to the top of the music world, joining former President Donald Trump’s tribute to Jan. 6 inmates on the Billboard and iTunes charts.

The new video from Natasha Owens hit No. 1 on iTunes when it debuted. It is now at No. 5 and ahead of Taylor Swift’s “All of the Girls You Loved Before” and just behind “Justice for All,” featuring Trump and the J6 Prison Choir.

Terry Glavin: David Johnston the right man to whitewash Chinese interference

He has spent a half century supporting Beijing’s strategy to draw Canada into its orbit of influence

There are so many crazy things the Trudeau government has been expecting Canadians to believe about the partisan advantage the Liberals have accrued to themselves owing to their cozy relationships with China’s agents of influence in this country that it’s really difficult to decide which is the most objectively unbelievable and easily disprovable.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he will be discussing China-related issues with U.S. President Joe Biden during the latter’s two-day visit to Canada set to begin on March 23.

However, Trudeau said China is not among the main points he plans to address with Biden, and that topics like climate change, job growth, and the supply of critical minerals will take higher priority.

European young adults are critical of both US and China – study

Young people in three European countries are sharply critical of the world’s two most powerful countries, a study has found.

They are concerned about the US’s role as the “world’s policeman” and China’s growing economic might, says US-based Pew Research Center.

The findings are based on focus groups with some 120 adults aged 18-29 in the UK, France and Germany.

Participants were from across the ideological spectrum.

Many voiced concerns about how the US has wielded its power on the global stage and criticised its actions abroad as self-interested.

Electric cars are creating a new economy — and leaving some towns behind

Workers and small businesses in Belvidere, Ill., are dealing with the aftermath of mass layoffs, after Stellantis idled its Jeep factory

BELVIDERE, Ill. — Early last year, workers at a Jeep factory here hoped their plant would be converted to an electric vehicle facility as the auto industry revamps for a green-energy future. Engineers came to take measurements for a possible retooling, and rumors spread that electric sports cars were on the agenda.

But those hopes crumbled last month when the corporate parent company, Stellantis, ended production at the 58-year-old plant and laid off roughly 1,200 workers, ripping the heart out of this small town 70 miles northwest of Chicago.

This seems more about stripping America of its manufacturing capability. EV’s are not anyone’s savior.

Challenger 2 Tank UK

“Highly effective” depleted uranium munitions provided by the UK will be used by Ukrainian forces against Russian tanks.

On Monday, British Minister of State for Defense, Annabel Goldie, said that the U.K. would provide Ukraine with some depleted uranium armor-piercing rounds for donated Challenger 2 main battle tanks. The U.K. pledged 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine back in January.

Munich says Roger Waters concert cannot be halted

Several of Roger Waters’ scheduled tour dates in Germany in May have been called into question in recent weeks, but Munich authorities said on Wednesday that they could not find cause to halt his planned May 21 concert at the city’s Olympic Hall.

This decision contrasts with the city of Frankfurt’s ongoing efforts to cancel a May 28 event, which Waters says he is resisting legally. Poland also canceled shows by the former Pink Floyd member, who left the band in the 1980s, late last year.

The U.N.’s ‘Final Warning’ about Climate Change Won’t Be the Last

Its new report is just the latest in a long line of doomsaying missives on the subject. Their predictions have a funny habit of failing to come true.

The U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released an assessment report eight years in the making on Monday, and one climate scientist billed it as the “final warning” that catastrophic climate change is imminent.

The depopulation agenda, Part 2: Creating food scarcity

This is the second in a series tracing the history of population control through to present day depopulation ambitions and intent. You can read Part 1 here.

HENRY Kissinger, one of the most influential politicians of the last 50 years, who said ‘the elderly are useless eaters’, considered the idea of using food to control the population. In his 1974 ‘National Security Study Memorandum 200’ he outlined a number of countries of strategic importance for the US that he claimed had problems with population growth that might give them more economic and military strength. He advocated birth control programmes for those countries and suggested that if they did not do this willingly, withdrawing food aid to them may act as an incentive to make them comply.

We Are at War with Mexico

Are military invasion and annexation the only solutions?

There is a great deal of agonizing handwringing over the crisis that the United States faces at our southern border. Legislators from both ends of the political spectrum talk about comprehensive political reform, increasing border patrol at the U.S./Mexico border, and granting a pathway to citizenship to DACA residents living in America.

Few dare to diagnose and declare the nature of our real problem and proffer viable solutions: that Mexico is a hostile foreign power located at our border, that we are actually at war with Mexico, and that the only solution might be air strikes, military invasion, placing the country into political receivership or, more—outright annexation.

Barbie Kardashian: the grisly reality of self-ID

In Ireland, even the most violent and unhinged sex offenders are being housed in women’s prisons.

Last night, Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was asked about the decision to place an extremely dangerous young man, Barbie Kardashian, in a women’s prison. Averting his eyes for a moment, Varadkar claimed that until reading the Sunday papers, he had been unaware of the case, adding that he ‘may have to consider changing the law’. One might have hoped that Ireland’s premier would have been more on top of his brief given the gravity of the situation.

Toulouse and the birth of modern jihadism

The attack exposed the myth of the lone wolf

When two young men embellish a Toulouse FC replica shirt with the name of the city’s most notorious mass murderer, is it just a sick and provocative gag, or evidence of sympathy for the killer’s worldview? Earlier this month, the French courts decided it was “terrorism apologia” and handed out three and four-month sentences to two men who, posted a photo on Snapchat wearing a football shirt with the name of the delinquent jihadist, Mohammed Merah, across it, with the number seven — for the number he killed.

Your government lies to you about Islam.

Trudeau-Biden talks to tackle asylum seekers surge at migration hotspot

A five-mile stretch of dirt road linking New York state to the Canadian province of Quebec is expected to be a focal point of Joe Biden’s first official visit to Canada later this week, as Justin Trudeau seeks to slow a surge in asylum claims amid criticism that his government is failing refugees.

Last year nearly 40,000 people entered Canada at Roxham Road, an informal crossing in the forests of upstate New York that has become a political flashpoint in recent years.
