A Toronto man who used COVID-relief funds to buy and illegally import gun parts from the southern United States — including a Donald Trump-branded semi-automatic pistol — is now looking at a penitentiary sentence.

Last fall, on the eve of trial, Devon Pelley pleaded guilty to 10 firearm importation and gun possession charges laid after the Canada Border Services Agency and Ontario Provincial Police in October 2020 intercepted packages containing four firearm slides and barrels, sent by the mail from Alpharetta, a city in northern Georgia, to a fictitious person at a budget hotel on Queen Street West in Toronto.

OMG! It has Trump on it!

The perp imported one Trump gun not multiple Trump gun parts.

Organized Crime Suspected of Operating Within Public Sector … Duh, they’re called the Liberal Party

A federal department briefing note says that organized crime is suspected to be operating in the public sector, although the specific federal offices that are allegedly involved went unnamed.

“It is also suspected that organized crime groups are also involved in areas of the public sector,” said the memo from the Department of Public Safety, titled “Organized Crime” and obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter through Access to Information.

The note estimated about 26 criminal gangs to be active “within Canadian public sector agencies or departments.”

At a Hanukkah celebration last month, President Biden stated: “Today we must all say clearly and forcefully: Antisemitism and all forms of hate and violence in this country have no safe harbor in America.” But simply saying it, no matter how forcefully, does not appear to carry much weight against the increasingly evident support among many black Americans for ideas and voices espousing violence toward Jews. Black and Hispanic youth report higher rates of anti-Semitic views than among white youth on the alt-Right.

FTX lawyer tied to poker scandal reportedly flipped on Sam Bankman-Fried

Daniel Friedberg — the former FTX “chief regulatory officer” who was tied to a notorious online poker cheating scandal — has reportedly flipped on Sam Bankman-Fried and has been cooperating with the feds in the epic crypto fraud case.

Friedberg, a member of Bankman-Fried’s inner circle and key legal adviser at FTX, met with investigators on Nov. 22 and detailed how the disgraced founder used customer funds “to finance his business empire,” Reuters reported on Thursday, citing a source with knowledge of the matter.

An 8 billion dollar fraud demands jail time, but Sam’s parents have the Democrat card to play. I expect a fairly quick pardon will be arranged once the dust has settled.

‘Native American’ artist Kay LeClaire accused of being white also ‘made up stories about visions,’ is married to researcher

There were already accusations of fraudulent behavior shadowing Kay LeClaire when they showed off their intricate bead- and basket-work on Etsy and social media over the last two years. The posts described the “visions” and dreams that led the Wisconsin artist — who identifies as non-binary and Native American — to create the elaborate pieces of art.

But more than once, the real creators of the work had come forward to take ownership of pieces that LeClaire, 28, tried to appropriate, said a Native American administrator who has known LeClaire since 2020.

“[LeClaire] passed off people’s crafts as their own, and made up stories about the visions,” said Jon Greendeer, the Health and Wellness Coordinator at the Ho-Chunk Nation, in Black River Falls, Wis. “In this way, they did more damage than any European colonizers did in the old days.”

In the past several years, Jews visiting the holy site of Joseph’s Tomb in the city of Nablus in the West Bank have been targeted by Palestinian rioters and gunmen.

The most recent attack took place on December 21, when Jewish worshippers and the Israeli soldiers guarding them came under heavy gunfire.

According to Palestinian sources, during the Palestinians’ attempt to prevent the Jews from entering the holy site, one gunman, Ahmed Atef Daraghmeh, was killed and four others injured.

Sinaloa cartel launches violent response as Mexico recaptures El Chapo’s son

Mexican authorities have captured Ovidio Guzmán, a son of incarcerated drugs kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, prompting a furious response from cartel gunmen in the northern city of Culiacán.

After a night of violence, gunmen exchanged fire with security forces, blocking roads with burning vehicles and shooting at army helicopters and police aeroplanes bringing reinforcements to the city.

According to one resident, heavy fighting raged for hours after Guzmán – a key figure in the Sinaloa cartel since the arrest of his father – was arrested early on Thursday.

Queen West takes yet another hit as H&M permanently closes its doors

Swedish fast-fashion retail giant H&M has permanently shuttered one of its first Toronto locations after more than a decade.

The store, at 427-429 Queen St. W., first opened in August 2007 in Toronto’s trendy Queen West neighbourhood, well known as a shopping, nightlife and tourist destination.

The news of its closure follows a spate of popular retail-chain departures on the famous Queen West strip throughout the pandemic, including stores like the Gap, Le Château, GUESS, EB Games and NYX.

I am rarely downtown anymore, perhaps I’m due for a drive through just to get a current sense of things,  closest I’ve been is King & Cowan a couple of times of late.

I wonder if this is the start of the world class urban decline downtown Toronto Liberals have been striving for.

And who cares about them anyway?

Toronto needs a revised motto. How bout’ “We hate you if you’re not diverse like us.”

Nuclear reactor pressure tubes are deteriorating faster than expected … so it’s full speed ahead on EV-topia

Early in the summer of 2021, Canada’s nuclear safety regulator received alarming news.

Inspections had revealed that two pressure tubes from different reactors at Canada’s largest nuclear power plant, the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station, had deteriorated far more quickly than expected. This meant the station’s operator, Bruce Power, had violated the terms of its operating licence. The revelation put the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in a tight spot. How were its leaders to respond?

Pressure tubes are commonly described as the heart of the CANDU reactor, Canada’s homegrown nuclear reactor design. The tubes contain uranium fuel bundles and heavy water, which serves as coolant.

We can barely keep current infrastructure working yet Junior assures us everything will be just dandy in Electric-La-La-Land.

Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohberger left DNA on knife sheath found by cops at crime scene: court docs

Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger was identified as a suspect in the gruesome murders after he left DNA on a knife sheath found by cops at the crime scene, it was revealed Thursday.

As he made his first appearance in a Moscow, Idaho, court, cops released paperwork detailing what led them to suspect Kohberger of killing four University of Idaho students as they slept on Nov. 13.

The affidavit describes how officers discovered a bloody scene over two floors and a leather knife sheath in one room where two victims were discovered in a single bed.

Bail hearing dates set for some teens charged in death of Toronto homeless man

Bail hearings are scheduled for later this month for four of eight girls facing second-degree murder charges in the death of a Toronto homeless man.

Police have said that three 13-year-olds, three 14-year-olds, and two 16-year-olds allegedly swarmed and stabbed a 59-year-old man in the city’s downtown core in mid-December.

One teen is set to appear in court for a bail hearing on Jan. 20, two others on Jan. 25, and another on Jan. 27.
