‘Quite troubled’: MPs demand explanation from OPP over ‘wildly different’ statements on Freedom Convoy

OTTAWA — MPs unanimously voted to demand answers from the Ontario Provincial Police on its “wildly different” testimony about the security threat posed by the Freedom Convoy protests.

In a rare show of parliamentary unity, members of all parties on the Commons public safety and national security committee approved a motion requiring an “immediate response” from the OPP regarding an apparent “contradiction” between what its commissioner told the committee in March about the protests and what its head of intelligence said to the Emergencies Act inquiry last week.

Ukraine arms manufacturer charged with treason over bugged phone calls

Alleged recordings of the head of a major Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer accused of aiding the Russian military – saying he “completely understands” why a Russian missile was fired at his factory – have been released by Kyiv’s security services after his arrest at the weekend.

Vyacheslav Boguslaev, the president of Motor Sich, has been charged with treason after a raid at the weekend on his home in the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia. The manufacturing heavyweight is suspected of selling engines – before and after the invasion – for Russian attack helicopters that have been used extensively against Ukrainian troops.

Muslim Preacher Wants to Visit Attacker in Jail, San Diego District Attorney Says ‘What Attack?’

Uthman Ibn Farooq, the San Diego Muslim preacher who told the world he was stabbed by an “Islamophobic” Christian in March 2022, has responded to an FWI story indicating that the stabbing never took place.

In a YouTube video posted earlier today (Oct. 20), Uthman claimed to debunk FWI’s reporting, but provided no details about the identity of the attacker. He did state however, that his unnamed attacker had been arrested on hate crime charges, pleaded guilty to lesser charges, and is now serving time in jail and could be transferred to a prison for the rest of his sentence. Uthman said he has forgiven his attacker and hopes to visit him in jail so he can invite him into the fold of Islam.

Dr. Michael Egnor, a professor of neurosurgery and pediatrics at the Stony Brook University’s medical school in New York, spoke with The Federalist editor Emily Jashinky during a podcast interview on Friday about the issue of so-called “gender transitions” in modern medicine.

Russian court rejects Brittney Griner’s appeal of 9-year sentence

A Russian court on Tuesday rejected Brittney Griner’s appeal after the jailed WNBA star begged for forgiveness for her “mistake” — upholding her nine-year sentence on drug charges.

Griner and her lawyers had asked for acquittal or at least a more lenient sentence, which they said was disproportionate to the offense and at odds with Russian judicial practice.

I have to wonder how George Zimmerman felt upon reading about the shooting death of Kansas City firefighter Anthony Santi, 41.

Ten years ago, after getting his head pounded into the concrete for a minute or more, Zimmerman famously shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Although Martin attacked the much smaller Zimmerman without provocation, and eyewitness evidence supported Zimmerman’s claims of self-defense, the media and the woke mobs frightened state prosecutors into charging Zimmerman with second-degree murder and ruining his life.

Uproar Continues in France Over Muslim Charged with Torture, Rape, Murder of 12-Year-old French Girl

In France there is a continuing uproar over the torture, rape, and murder of 12-year-old Lola Daviet by an Algerian woman. “The suspect had boasted about selling body parts,” one investigator told Le Parisien. “Evidence suggests that the girl was taken into the basement of the flat, where she was tortured, and raped, before being strangled and having her throat cut.” The woman had then stuffed her body in a suitcase and dragged it to the street.

One province helping another. I can’t think of a better model for a country built on mutual interdependence, which is why it’s styled a Confederation.

Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez’s Credibility Problem, Part One: The Laith Marouf/CMAC Issue

Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez appeared before the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage on Friday for one hour and walked away with a serious credibility problem. Rodriguez has already been repeatedly contradicted on Bill C-11, claiming that the bill doesn’t cover user content or algorithms. On both issues, the CRTC Chair (and virtually every expert) say otherwise. Friday’s hearing focused on two issues – the Laith Marouf/CMAC issue of government funding for an anti-semite and Bill C-18, the Online News Act. Given his responses to MP questions, Rodriguez now faces credibility questions on both. This post will focus on his responses to questions about Canadian Heritage funding for CMAC/Marouf and a second post tomorrow will examine his misleading statements on the bill.

The inclusion of questions on Canadian Heritage funding an anti-semite as part of its anti-hate program appeared to take Rodriguez by surprise. The questions began with Conservative MP Rachael Thomas, who noted Rodriguez’s silence this summer and pressed him on whether he would come to committee to answer questions.

Trudeau government’s $1B nuclear reactor investment shows the political bargains that have to be made

Ottawa is going nuclear in a big way, putting almost $1 billion into building a new reactor at Darlington, near Toronto.

It’s a move that has been years in the making and comes with plenty of controversy — as well as prospects to test a new low-emissions technology to generate electricity, and enough power for 300,000 homes.

It’s the latest sign that Canada’s climate change commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 will have to be a voyage full of political compromise and big bucks that come not just from government but from the private sector.

The Canada Infrastructure Bank will announce on Tuesday that it is lending Ontario Power Generation a total of $970 million to prepare the ground for Canada’s first small modular reactor, with the goal of having it up and running by 2029.

The future is not Solar Powered Unicorn Fart Turbines. Anyone who suggests Nuclear has no place is an idiot, irradiate them.

SMR’s and lots of them must be part of the solution. Those electric cars are not gonna run long on Pride Parade Power. Hell we already know EV’s aren’t sustainable on a large scale, they’re just window dressing to fool a gullible public into going along with the program of deliberate impoverishment.
