Is trans surgery just state-sanctioned mutilation?

Severe body modification is never good, whether it’s done for Islamic reasons or trans reasons.

There is a question about body modification among the young that nobody wants to ask, let alone try to answer. But it’s time we put it out there. Why is it ‘mutilation’ when a young woman’s vagina is cut for religious reasons, but ‘affirmation’ when it is done for trans reasons? Why do we balk in horror at the ritualistic removal of parts of the outer vagina in young women in certain countries in Africa, but we cheer ‘bottom surgery’ as a form of ‘trans healthcare’ in the West? We need a reckoning with this moral disparity in how we view the ideological alteration of women’s bodies. We live in a world in which you can be arrested for subjecting your daughter to body modification for Islamic reasons but you will become a star on TikTok for allowing your daughter to have her breasts removed for gender-affirmation reasons. And we need to talk about that.

The Causes and Consequences of the Ukraine Crisis

The war in Ukraine is a multi-dimensional disaster, which is likely to get much worse in the foreseeable future. When a war is successful, little attention is paid to its causes, but when the outcome is disastrous, understanding how it happened becomes paramount. People want to know: how did we get into this terrible situation?

I have witnessed this phenomenon twice in my lifetime—first with the Vietnam war and second with the Iraq war. In both cases, Americans wanted to know how their country could have miscalculated so badly. Given that the United States and its NATO allies played a crucial role in the events that led to the Ukraine war—and are now playing a central role in the conduct of that war—it is appropriate to evaluate the West’s responsibility for this calamity.

Cheaper at the Bay

It was Kathy who decided we would be wed in Vegas having abandoned our original plans for a church wedding thanks to the Kennedy clan’s sinister reach.

Payback for Kathy’s JFK conspiracy fascination? Who knows what evil lurks in Hyannis Port?

Well not quite.

To marry in the church we would have to take marriage classes for 2 years. This was in part, at least as I recall, a sort of penance for my previous marriage and divorce.

Fine and good until a Kennedy scion got divorced and was allowed to remarry in a church blessed ceremony all within 6 months.

Kathy was rightly incensed at this two tiered Catholicism.

So it was arrivederci Roma and Viva Las Vegas.

I can’t say I was sorry to miss out on 2 years of classes.

Kathy made arrangements at “The Little Church of The West” and I secured our flight and booked us into the MGM Grand.

We were not long moved into our condo so to save a bit of money Kathy decided she would use her Grandma’s wedding and engagement rings.

We had them resized and polished up at Birks on Bay and Bloor.

They looked great on Kathy’s finger that Saturday morning we went to pick them up.

Then the matter of my wedding ring came up.

The salesperson brought out a selection of their finest or whatever they had on hand after sizing up my wallet and likelihood to purchase.

Bottom line the cheapest of the lot would have run me a thousand bucks. I have never been a fan of jewelry and own only a couple of cheap watches. A thousand bucks did not make sense to me.

Kathy was mortified explaining in a voice cracking with hurt that money should not be an object at a time like this.

I explained that I could get a pretty good band at the Bay for 100 to 150 bucks and we could use the rest as spending money on our Vegas honeymoon.

We walked in dead silence to the Bay. If looks could kill every living thing between Birks and the Bay would have been wiped out in a Kathygeddon.

I bought the band. It remains on my finger and I do not believe I have taken it off more than a half dozen times since we were married.

Kathy forgave me and I apologized for tarnishing her expectations. Give and take. I would not trade my band for anything. Meaning cannot be quantified in a ledger.

It was our anniversary this week. We were married in 2008.

Vegas was in the middle of a heat wave. We were hot on the slot machines.

Pip was left behind in the care of a friend who graciously volunteered as a cat sitter.

I recall Kathy remarking some years later that we sure talked about Pip a lot. She loved her little pal.

It was a wonderful week.

The pic I took of Kathy when we went walking in a Hamilton park.

It was then she told me that the pain in her side was growing worse.

Neither of us mentioned Ovarian cancer though I am certain we both feared the worst.

On the way home our route took us past the cemetery. Kathy did not wish to stop to visit her Mom’s resting place.

I felt a chill as an inner voice told me we would be back.

About ten days later at Mt. Sinai Kathy was informed of a “malignancy.”

Today was lovely. A perfect day to stop by Kathy’s resting place with a small bouquet to say hello and give thanks.

Later I stopped by to see my brother in hospice. He is as good as it gets under the circumstances.

We’re still waiting for the OK to bring him some beers.

Hamilton elementary school cancels ‘Lightyear’ viewing due to ‘questionable content’ in Disney groomer flick

A Hamilton elementary school planning a field trip to the movies this week deemed Disney’s Pixar film ‘Lightyear’ unsuitable for students due to “questionable content,” announcing a last minute decision to see a different movie in a letter to parents.

The animated ‘Toy Story’ spin-off, with main character Buzz voiced by actor Chris Evans, contains the inclusion of a brief kiss between a lesbian couple.

The field trip, organized by St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Elementary School in Hamilton, took place on June 22 and the students, ranging in age from junior kindergarten to Grade 3, were initially meant to see ‘Lightyear’ at Cineplex Cinemas.

Good call. The film is bombing for reasons few wish to discuss openly.

Abortion protesters swarm conservative SCOTUS justices’ homes

 

Enraged pro-choice protesters vowed to descend on the homes of the six conservative Supreme Court justices on Saturday after posting their addresses online in the wake Roe v. Wade being overturned.

The pro-abortion group, Ruth Sent Us, started circulating the justices’ addresses in the hours after the high court struck down the landmark abortion case Friday and as violent protests broke out nationwide.

Dozens of protesters showed up outside Justice Clarence Thomas’ home overnight, chanting “no privacy for us, no peace for you!” and accusing his wife, Ginni, of being an “insurrectionist.”

Commonwealth falls short of condemning Russia as Trudeau prepares for G7

In the final communique from the summit, the 54 Commonwealth countries said they discussed the conflict in Ukraine, ” underscored the need to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states,” and ” emphasized that all countries must seek peaceful resolution to all disputes in accordance with international law.”

The countries stopped short of condemning Russia, as Trudeau and United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson have done throughout the summit.

“I can assure you that the topic of standing up for Ukraine was much discussed,” Trudeau said at a press conference following the conclusion of the summit, referencing “strong language” in the communique.

… Trudeau had attempted to meet with the chair of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, for several days during the Commonwealth summit but the sit-down was repeatedly postponed and eventually cancelled.

I doubt anyone takes the airhead seriously.

Justice Canada says it should have consulted the inquiry looking into Canada’s worst mass shooting in history instead of withholding critical information from them for nearly four months.

This admission of fault came on Friday after the Mass Casualty Commission confirmed that it did not receive the entirety of RCMP superintendent Darren Campbell’s handwritten notes, including the pages that describe allegations of political interference in order to advance the Liberals’ gun-control agenda.

This says the Trudeau Liberals corrupt everything they touch.

Netflix’s New Woke Comedy Special Is Deeply Unfunny

Netflix Is a Joke is the name of a Netflix comedy festival that was held in Los Angeles from April 28 to May 8. It’s a curious title, because in comedy circles Netflix is indeed a joke — a streaming service that you’d think would be eager to snap up the very best comics around, but that instead, with a couple of famous exceptions (Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais), prefers to present stand-ups whose material ranges from the safely banal to the aggressively PC — Jim Gaffigan, Aziz Ansari, Marc Maron, Patton Oswalt, Hannah Gadsby, Amy Schumer. Among the festival’s offerings is an hour-and-a-half special entitled Bill Burr Presents Friends Who Kill. “Kill,” of course, is used here in the same way that it’s used among comics — to convey the fact that some fellow comedian’s material is so strong that it makes the audiences weep with helpless laughter and sends the competition running for the hills. As it turned out, alas, the “friends” on this show were more likely to make an audience die of boredom.

Mother arrested over disturbing video appearing to show ‘her EAT her daughter’s hamster in exchange for drugs’

A 39-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after video footage was posted online showing her eat her daughter’s hamster.

The distressing clip was uploaded to Facebook and allegedly showed the rodent being eaten in exchange for crack cocaine.

The footage appears to show the woman killing the hamster, which belonged to her daughter, before eating the rodent.

Two people dead, three injured in overnight shooting in Oshawa, Ont.

Police say two people were killed and three injured in an overnight shooting at a bar in Oshawa, Ont.

Durham Regional Police say the incident happened on Saturday at around 12:45 a.m. at the BLVD restaurant and bar located at 1812 Simcoe Street North.

Officers were dispatched to the area after reports of shots being fired. When they arrived on scene, they identified five victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
