From snakes to Spartans: The meaning behind some of the flags convoy protesters are carrying as smeared by the usual “CBC Experts”

Thousands of people have taken to the streets in the nation’s capital and other cities across Canada over the last three weeks to protest vaccine mandates, pandemic restrictions and lockdowns.

While many protesters have been carrying the Canadian flag, some have been waving flags that are less recognizable.

But for experts who study extremism in Canada, the symbols on some of these flags are familiar.

After Vaccine Mandate Victory, Freedom Convoy Faces off Against Angry Prime Minister

The premier claims his vaccine about-face has nothing to do with the protests.

And on the 24th Day of the Freedom Convoy, Doug Ford announced freedom.

Kinda. Sorta.

The Ontario premier lifted most vaccine-requirement restrictions in public places as of March 1. So, in two weeks, arenas, bars, restaurants, and gyms can admit people in Canada’s most populous province without checking for a COVID card. Capacity restrictions soon loosen, but Ford put off lifting the indoor mask requirement for at least another month.

San Francisco’s Heart of Darkness

Overrun by drug addiction and squalor, the City by the Bay wants to bring its disastrous experiment in harm-reduction to the rest of California.

Over the past two years, San Francisco has seen more than 1,360 drug overdose fatalities—more than double the number of Covid-19 deaths over roughly the same period. Open drug use and escalating violence in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood forced Mayor London Breed to make an “emergency declaration” last December, resulting in the opening of a “Linkage Center” intended to connect the mentally ill or addicted homeless to basic services. The city selected Urban Alchemy—the 800-pound gorilla in the world of private, nonprofit social-services contractors—as the site’s operator. Mere days after opening, news emerged that the Linkage Center was also operating as a drug-consumption site, in apparent violation of the federal Controlled Substances Act.

Israelis mount their own COVID ‘Freedom Convoy’

(February 14, 2022 / JNS) Despite nearly blackout by much of the Israeli press, as many as 20,000 vehicles participated in a “Freedom Convoy” to Jerusalem on Monday, culminating with large protests outside Israel’s parliament and Supreme Court.

Vehicles set off on Monday morning from forty cities across Israel, calling on the government to lift the state of emergency declared due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the event’s organizers.

As blockades clear elsewhere, protesters in Ottawa remain defiant

OTTAWA — Defying an emergency order to disperse, protesters in trucks and other vehicles vowed on Tuesday to stand their ground outside the Canadian parliament until the government lifts vaccine mandates and other COVID-19 restrictions.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday became only the second Canadian leader to invoke the Emergencies Act in peacetime, giving the government broad powers to end border blockages that have hit trade and paralyzed downtown Ottawa.

A plague of phony experts and elites

Totalitarian ideas are now out in the open

Quick: what do you think when someone tries to convince you of something by prefacing their remarks with the phase “Experts say”?

I think of that rude, two-word imperative of Germanic origin that ends in “You.”

As Laplace said in another context, it is par expériences nombreuses et funestes that I have this almost Pavlovian reaction.

The “experts,” alas, are not expert, i.e, “possessing a high degree of skill in or knowledge of” a certain subject.

One of the self-appointed “experts” cited by the CBC operates out of the Kommunity Kollege Of KKK Knowledge and claims 300 active “white supremacist” groups in Canada – but can’t name them.

Twitter Declines To Censor Tweets Reportedly Linking To Hacked Freedom Convoy Donor List

Twitter is allowing posts to remain on its platform containing the private information of Freedom Convoy donors reportedly obtained through hacking, according to a review of Twitter’s platform by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Crowdfunding service GiveSendGo was reportedly hacked late Sunday and the personal information of donors to the Freedom Convoy, a group of truckers and individuals protesting Canada’s COVID-19 restrictions, was given to leak-hosting site Distributed Denial of Secrets, the organization said on its website. GiveSendGo has yet to publicly confirm the hack, and the company did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment early Monday.

Trudeauscu slammed for invoking emergency powers to stop protests

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been criticized by several civil liberties groups and politicians for invoking emergency powers to stop the protests across the country against COVID-19 restrictions.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association has argued that the protests, which have snarled traffic in cities and at the border, did not meet the standard to have invoked the Emergencies Act.

Biden Administration Kills Israel-to-Europe Gas Pipeline

The Biden administration has abruptly withdrawn American support for the Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) pipeline, a project aimed at shipping natural gas from Israel to European markets. The White House said the project was antithetical to its “climate goals.”

In reaching its decision, which effectively kills EastMed, the White House appears to have caved to pressure from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has vociferously opposed the underwater pipeline because it would bypass Turkey.
