Justices in the Supreme Court’s conservative majority on Wednesday raised substantial doubts about the jurisprudence behind the 1973 case establishing abortion rights in the United States, Roe v. Wade , during arguments over a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks gestation.
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, combined with arguments on Nov. 1 over a Texas anti-abortion law , represents the most direct challenge in decades to Roe, which made abortion a national right rather than letting states decide the issue. The rulings, which will be issued by June 2022, have the potential to sway politics substantially, with the underlying issue a motivating one at the ballot box for opponents of abortion and supporters of abortion rights.

On 31 October, police officer Irfan Ahsan was posted to provide security at Wazirabad town in Pakistan’s Punjab Province, where hundreds of TLP protestors had been camping for more than a week with the aim marching to the capital Islamabad to force the government to expel the French envoy over the reprinting of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in a satirical magazine.
The protesters were also demanding the release of their leader, Saad Rizvi, who had been jailed under anti-terrorism laws.
BDS measure bans ‘pro-Israel’ kosher caterers at Toronto University
(November 30, 2021 / JNS) Just days before a report concerning anti-Semitism on campus is set to be released, the student union at a branch of the University of Toronto voted in favor of a radical BDS measure against Israel.
The resolution by the Scarborough Center Students Union, which was passed on Nov. 24, says, in part, that it will “refrain from engaging with organizations, services or participating in events that further normalize Israeli apartheid.” That includes “inviting speakers who are representing the Israel Defense Force or support the military occupation of Palestine, the displacement, incarceration and/or killing of Palestinian people.”
