Former President Trump has asked a federal judge in Florida to force Twitter to restore his account, arguing the company improperly suspended him after receiving pressure from members of Congress.
Twitter “exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate,” the Friday filing read, Bloomberg reported.
New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard has been named sportswoman of the year by the University of Otago.
She was awarded this title by the university based in Dunedin on the South Island of New Zealand at the Blues awards on Tuesday.

It was likely spotted in Lockheed’s Helendale Radar Cross Section Facility, said Twitter user Ruben Hofs, who analyzed the video.

Toronto city council has just approved a five-year plan to deal with food insecurity in the Black community in a culturally sensitive way.
The plan, approved Friday, is the first of its sort in North America and lays out a multi-million dollar commitment to advance food sovereignty in Black communities over the next five years.
Melana Roberts, a policy development officer with the city’s Confronting Anti-Black Racism unit (CABR) who worked on the plan, said the team did not come across anything similar globally — a Black-led food plan funded municipally.
“We can’t just have a charitable approach to this,” Roberts tells the Star. “We need a human-rights-based approach that’s based in not only addressing the challenges Black communities face, but positioning them as leaders.”
It can’t just be charitable that would be racist.

Pfizer says it has submitted initial COVID-19 vaccine trial data for kids to Health Canada
TORONTO — Pfizer says it has submitted initial trial data for the use of its COVID-19 vaccine in children aged five to 11 to Health Canada.
In an email to CTVNews.ca, Pfizer Canada confirmed the company has sent findings regarding its COVID-19 vaccine in children for review and continues to work with Heath Canada as it aims to file a formal submission by mid-October.
In 2015, during the Obama administration, the Supreme Court ruled that the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment requires states to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. This decision — which made the final pronouncement on the first major battle about gender confusion — rendered meaningless the distinction between men and women. It was no longer necessary for a married couple to comprise a male and a female. In a marriage, there could now be two husbands or two wives.

As reported by Douglas Belkin in the WSJ, a recent study by a nonprofit research group reveals that the college enrollment gap between men and women has reached new records. Last year, women made up about 60% of college students, and if the trend continues, it is predicted that in the next few years women earning degrees will outnumber men two to one.
The trend has been shown to be especially pronounced among white men, whose enrollment is often lower than minority men within the same income range. Lower-income white males were the demographic group least likely to enroll in college, more than 20% less likely than white women in the same income bracket.

Rose is not on the radical right; he’s a Catholic and the director of the Berkeley Institute, and a contributor to First Things magazine. In fact, a superb 2019 essay he wrote for First Things about the far-right journalist and essayist Samuel Francis forms the basis for his new book.
Rose’s new book profiles some of the leading contemporary thinkers of the radical right, showcasing why they appeal to some people today. He neither lionizes them nor demonizes them, though he certainly does not whitewash their beliefs. What’s so valuable about this book — you’ll get this if you read the Sam Francis essay linked above — is that Rose looks at these figures squarely and fairly, and explains why they matter today. You don’t have to like any of them, but you need to know who they are and what they thought.
